Thanks dear :) But I am an eternal optimist and as a proud Indian not willing to brush it all under the carpet. I will continue to press for quality on every platform I find.As a rule I do not watch and neither do I want to watch western serials as I find them worse except maybe a few like 'News Room ' . This is not because I am myopic but because I like to relax in an atmosphere that I am familiar with . Love some of the shows produced by our neighbours and am left wondering why we can't do it if they can. In fact when we try to adapt some of their iconic shows we butcher those too.
It would be a great idea if there was a mixed bag ..as it is elsewhere..at least something for us oldies also to relax with at the end of a tiring day.

Thank you for being informed but there is no reason that just because it is a Hindi serial we should not raise our expectations .I have seen some brilliant Hindi serials and am craving for the era to return . Let us also get our share of enjoyment on the National TV.

Fair enough - after all everything is a matter of taste and choice.

Part of the problem with Indian tv is the lack of initiative to try other avenues of story telling and that's mainly because an audience will not except a story without some romance. Or attempts at sitcoms lack the wit and panache needed to write them. Our dramas lack a sound base story (backstory).

Pakistani dramas work because they are well executed and have fleshed out characters. They also have a finite period on air - which is maybe something Indian tv can look at doing.

As for newsroom - that is a good show! 😳

delena ...there was a beautiful one when we started ..Buniyaad ..that surely was not plagiarised!

What about Tamas, Humlog, Saans, Nukkad ? Those were reasonably well textured and there was something for all to enjoy.Others too.

And I am not speaking of sonnets and rhymes...whatever that implies !
