These two love birds were happy in their own sanctuary at the poolside, in each other's embrace, starry eyed - gazing at each other when reality called--- If only they had not eaten the lemon pickle, the romance might have lasted a little longer, but...
At that moment began the journey of a beautiful guilt, stolen gazes and denials...
Today saw some more ...
Zoya asked Asad cautiously what he remembered after the bhang. Asad denied any rememberance despite having his own confession fresh in is mind. He was soft, boyish but mature in his denial. When he asked the same question to zoya, he almost hoped that she did not remember anything. Why this hesitation Asad? Zoya showed no reaction but some hesitation. But then, why did they both look at the poolside, the very spot that had witnessed their first confession, their first embrace? Their stolen gazes had a story to tell that will stay with Asad and Zoya at this time. The inhibitions, the hesitation, the denial is taking over their minds again.
To hide their uneasiness, their hesitation, they get in a childish argument over who would use the bathroom first. Still, when Zoya wraps her hand around Asad's hand over the door knob, the 'touch' works again. Zoya quickly blushes, starts breathing heavily and then gradually pulls her hand away. Asad once again witnesses the effect of his touch on Zoya. He secretly seems to enjoy this zoya. zoya, however, flips back in her innocent but immature ways of arguing. She continues in the same mood of an immature lover, almost teasing her beloved to hopelessly adore her, when she collides with him on the staircase and he holds her to save from falling once again.
When Zoya realizes that the pills of Phuphi and Asad have been exchanged, first thought rushes through her mind is of protecting Asad from taking wrong medication instead of saving Humeira, her dear sister, from Phupi's wrath - another first! She runs worried sick to make sure Asad does not take the wrong medication but then complicates the situation by misunderstanding what her eyes can see. She fails to see what her heart should see. Asad tries to explain repeatedly but zoya does not let him talk, does not listen. For the first time now Asad is on the receiving end.
Then comes another first, despite Zoya's repeated accusations, Asad does not get angry, does not scream or yell neither does he tell zoya to shut up. Instead he handles the whole Humeira situation beautifully and in a mature way. The contrast of Asad's mature love and zoya's immature love is immense. Asad has become gentle towards Zoya after realization of their love for each other but zoya is now caught up in the ambivalence of reality and perception.
When zoya admired Asad's handsome face in sleep and he asked her to shut up, it sounded very different - most likely he just wanted to say, "No, Sweety!"
Untold emotions: Asad almost wished that Zoya remembered. He almost wished that Zoya let him explain but he did not stop her. Neither did he get angry nor did he get upset that she cut him off! Asad just hoped that Zoya would understand him...However Asad is now on the receiving end and the more he puts up with Zoya's outbursts and her childish pranks, the more he is going to get teased as a first time lover...
