I loved your post Laila. Yes, I also believe Qubool Hai should show Ramadan because they are portraying Islam and Muslims. If they don't they are clearly disrespecting the religion and it's practices. Gul has done a fabulous job in the storyline but why couldn't she add in religion a little bit more? She could've made the storyline more realistic than just putting her own imagination( Hint: Jash-e-bahar and etc.). She needs to do her research but she shouldn't have to cause she's Muslim herself. Qubool Hai could be a whole package if she adds in some religion.

Just my opinion:)

What is so interesting is how people from different faiths are so intrigued in learning about the culture, the people, some of the religious practices. That's really awesome to read. It is tragic that the CVs and PH refuse to even address these or even bring in a consultant. Their goal is to keep anything related to the religion at a bear minimum in part because they do not know much.

I am waiting for the Eid celebrations
As a hindu i dont know much and would love to know more
Apart from facts that prayers are offered and biryani and sewai are made
I dont know anything else
I hope they show everything properly but we should not expect eid without a twist
As they always do in every festival on serials 😆

However, I woud like to see Gul have her characters celebrate Ramadan - specifically because the characterization for these character was based on their traditions and values. I would like to see It solely as an organic part of their lives as Muslims rather than have it be a plot point.

👏👏
Completely agree with you, build it into the story as a regular part of their life not as a plot point!

I understand your view point here; however, the point here is that if Gul is using QH as medium to promote a positive look of Muslims,
Given all the world events it would be nice to see a positive outlook without overdoing it. Having said that I am not sure the PH had any specific intention other than to make money 😛

it does not hurt to use elements of the faith as an influencing factor in their lives and decisions.
It is not used to preach, but to show that just like other faiths, Muslims too have elements of their faith that promote positive values. Even among liberal Muslims, religion does guide decisions. Bear in mind, as offensive as you find it, if other shows are comfortable showing this, why can't QH? I will be highly stunned if they show a single character fasting. Thus far it has ignored the birthday of Mohd. - Rabi-Al-Awwal. They did not even mention it. And while SOME Muslims do not acknowledge it, there are a number within India who do.

Again in all other shows they show the big festivals, and being a HIndu, I assure you if they show everything we will have nothing but pujas everyday in the serials. So yes the 80-20 rule must be followed, the big celebrations in a liberal but positive way. As with any religious ceremony, the really conservative traditions when shown on TV look like they are mocking them, more than displaying the culture

You will be shocked if I do not disagree with you so here we go😉 comments in green!

The answer to that question is a big fat 'No.' As far as what we've been shown in the story, I don't have any faith in the creatives to show the backdrop they utilized in the right manner anymore. They def can show Zoya praying to God to get strength to show Asad the truth about Tannu- but we don't even get some nice moments like that either. And please someone tell the creatives the dargah is not the OFFICIAL place for Muslims to pray. I'm sure India has mosques, don't they? I've really lost faith in the PH/creatives to show their backdrop in a positive light.

I'm not asking the show to be religious. But sometimes small things like these make all the difference in making your show more authentic to the audience rather than feeding them with information on 'mini skirts' and 'dargah shareefs'

This same PH has shown numerable amounts of pooja's in their previous shows...so why can't they show some realistic stuff to the audience? It's not like they haven't done it in the past, all they need to do is research. If you've taken up the trouble of having a Muslim BG, then research is the key. I'm not saying the show should be full of a full 20 minutes of nothing but religion. But utilize the religion in the show for a minute or two would be really nice too.
