This thread seems to have become too personal.
I think everyone is entitled to their opinion.
Muslims believe in the words of the Qu'ran. And the Qu'ran along with other Islamic books, states what a Muslim can and cannot do, i.e. they cannot drink alcohol, dress showing their skin, having sexual realtions before marriage etc. These are not opinions. These are what is written in Islamic books. People however, choose whether to follow it or not. But Muslims know that the words of God cannot be changed.
@delena90, I have nothing against you. I think you're entitled to your opinion. Islam however existed since the beginning with Prophet Adam, the first man created, but God made it clear with Prophet Muhammad, and that's when the religion of Islam was perfectly formed.
I know you're an athiest and therefore you don't believe in any of this, but Muslims do believe in the Qu'ran, otherwise they can't be a Muslim. And if the Islamic books prohibit a Muslim from doing something, then it means it is forbidden, there's no two ways about it. People are either ignorant about their own religion or choose to be ignorant about it, but it doesn't mean what they do is actually allowed in the religion and I'm sure many know this but don't care. Unfortunately we can't pick and choose what we believe in a religion, you either believe in it or you don't. We can't make it up as we go along with it.
But you are right in the sense that God won't just look at someone's clothes, but it is a factor and it is clearly stated in Islamic books.
I have friends from many religions, they know they do wrong by their religion, but they don't see it as a big deal so carry on doing wrong, but it doesn't mean it's actually allowed in the religion.
I know you're probably thinking why is this person explaining all this to me when I'm an Atheist lol. But I just thought I'd explain so you understand why others might react strongly to your opinions.
My basic point was that religions do have certain things which are explicitly stated in religious books, but many choose to ignore it, but it doesn't make them a bad person, just that they give other factors more importance, but it doesn't mean the things which they do wrong are actually permissable in their religion.
Hope I made sense.
