Please guys! Don't bring Quran and religion in all of this. It's just offensive and the other thing is that there's no need to debate over it here because it will just create problems. How many debates on IF ever lead to a good result? NONE. So calm down.

You do not speak for everyone.

Some Muslims don't wear this, others do. You cannot generalize and say every Muslim believes the same as you.
it is not what i believe it is what is written in our holy book quran n there it is written u can't wear such dresses which will show any part of your body without hands face n feet n if a muslim is saying no to that that means he is not muslim by keeping muslim name or born in muslim family never make u a muslim
my family is nt conservativ en is very modern family no one tell any what to wear or what not but being a muslimj v know our restrictions our limits and if any muslim is following it then allah knows

dont forget that zoya is from new york and their it is common for people to wear such clothes..
and even coming to india it might be wrong in muslim culture to wear short skirts but the muslim associations themselves gave permission in some instances like to the tennis star sania mirza to wear them as it is the only thing in which she can play her game comfortably.. not only in muslim religion even in hindus people will have problem with such clothing and there are many issues raised when any actress wear any such type of clothes to any temple or holy places...
here zoya neither insulted any religion nor is wearing it out she just wanted to show it to najma so i dont think any thing wrong in it..
and the famous proverb itself says never judge a book by its cover so never judge a person by clothes and this is what they want to convey... so pls dont bring religion into the show enjoy it as it is...

I have said this many times. What is Islamic and Muslim to you (general you) is not necessarily what is believed by the general population of Muslims.

I have many Muslim friends who wear skirts, shorts, bikinis, dresses and jeans. It does not mean they are disrespecting their religion or culture. They still pray, they still fast and more importantly they are good people.

If god exists he isn't going to question you on what you were wearing. His concern will be if you were a kind, truthful and a good person.

Just my opinion. :)

I'm sure Allah does care more about a persons deeds than their clothes but the fact of the matter is that Islam does state that a person should not show their skin, and actually specifies that this means the whole body, except for the feet, hands and face. So although your Muslim friends might be great people they are not following Islam in it's true form, and unfortunately that is the truth.

It is not about perception of Islam. It is actually written down in religious books, it is not about opinions. Your statement that 'What is Islamic and Muslim to you (general you) is not necessarily what is believed by the general population of Muslims' can't really apply to this situation. I'm sure most Muslims know that they are not allowed to show their skin, but they choose to ignore it.

If the religion explicitly states you can't do something, then that is part of the religion, it isn't an opinion. It is factual to that religion.

So people who wear short dresses, bikinis, short skirts etc. are not following Islam correctly, and this isn't an opinion of mine, it is actually stated in the Islamic books and they will be questioned about it, and I'm sure most Muslims know this, but some wish to ignore it.

It means that people aren't following the religion properly. I don't think these people are bad or anything like that, but it does mean they are doing wrong in accordance with religion.

I don't think anyone follows a religion perfectly. We all do wrong.
We can still be good Muslims/Christians/Hindu's/Jews/Sikhs/Buddhists etc. even if we do some wrong, but we can't pretend something is permissable in a religion when it is not, we have to accept we are doing wrong.

No offence intended to anyone.
But if we really are basing this on factual stuff i.e. books etc. and not opinions, then wearing such clothes is wrong. Just like eating beef is wrong in Hinduism, or eating non-Kosher food in Judaism, having sexual relationships before marriage, these are wrong in many religions, but it doesn't mean everyone follows it.

Fact remains that ALL religious text was written by MAN not GOD.

And since you asked - No I am NOT Muslim. I am an atheist.
