Hahaha... If Zoya's proposal story is anything like Magaret's in the movie then Asad will definitely kill her 😆

my two cents...

to be fair...a lot of the international "audience" are watching rips of the series uploaded on the internet without paying for cable...

and I agree two wrongs don't make a right...

a lot of entertainment in India is not original and for the amount of money one episode earns...the studios would rather go after the stolen movies...and music. I don't think even if someone alerted the studio they'd care...its a daily soap...and one scene...

It's like taking a paragraph in a thesis and the hypothesis and data...as long as the data is original ..Asad and Zoya are original...that IMHO is the data.

Studios will start caring when the revenue will matter...as far as ethics go there are bigger problems to be solved...

Hahaha... just imagine Asad's reaction to the ring box with tiny pictures of himself! 😆
He would walk out the moment she tells she thought he was cheating on her 😛

I think I mentioned in one of my posts before that they are going the proposal route but Proposal in itself wasnt the most original film. It might be the most popular latest movie in our minds to have captured the whole strangers(potential lovers) posing as an engaged couple but it isnt the only one. I'm pretty sure it has happened in real and reel life quite often(reason why immigration officers in Proposal or here in qubool hai are so skeptical). But definitely agree it isnt the most original track but again when do we see anything original on indian tv anyway.

Mary,
Its been ages since I watched The Proposal, so I don't remember the details of the scene you mentioned. If the scene had the exact same dialogues in English, with the puppy story, I'd call that plagiarism. 😡The creatives should come up with something different and better. I am with you, if that is the case.

What I appreciate about the track is the way they have brought in Dhurandhar Bhatavdekar- inspired by a character Utpal Dutt played in a comedy, along with Dolly. I mean, I am really impressed that they made a desi version. Hats off to them for the creativity that borrowed from the classics of Indian Cinema. I don't call that plagiarism, but inspired, or may be even transplanted.Whatever it is, it has a cute ring of old world in it. 😊

If you are having a problem just with the scene where DB interrogates them, isn't that the first Q a deportation Officer would ask? He will want to find out how genuine the engagement is. And I guess in any and every movie that has been made on this premise, this Q would be asked...the creativity is in how that Q was answered. If it is an exact translation, it was plagiarism, otherwise I'd call it inspired.😊

Editing to add:

I thought the Chicken Pox thing was a fab idea. I hope the movie did not have that! It was a wonderful surprise for me, because I always expect a lot from the team. And Zoya's dialogue:" I had Chicken Pox as a child, but then Mr. D wouldn't know about it!" 🤣

Look at the positives! Thanks for bringing it up, any way.

I maintain you have a right to raise this as a valid question...and it is valid...but until the scene has aired I don't think any of us have a case.

The dialogues matched Delena. Did you notice the one about the proposal and kneeling with the guys on both scenes saying no, they were standing?

I normally don't post but this comparison intrigued me. I haven't seen the movie itself I but watched the excerpt linked in the post. There were two things that matched with the movie scene - the note to meet somewhere and second the guy cutting short the girl's story about the romantic proposal. The description of the proposal - the kneeling and the flowers etc is so cliched in both that I didn't consider that.

I still don't think this counts as plagiarism - it seemed more like a 'nod' to the movie, which is a way to give some credit to the 'inspiration', a nice thing to do. Even the copied elements were presented differently. Overall I felt that the show has a lot of original content, as does this particular visa track.
