Plagiarism is the "wrongful appropriation" and "purloining and publication" of another author's "language, thoughts, ideas, or expressions," and the representation of them as one's own original work. The idea remains problematic with unclear definitions and unclear rules

I think the key here is "original work" The Proposal is NOT an original idea or work. As said by many there have been many movies/ tv shows that have shown this kind of story before.

Gul in no shape or form has paraphrased the dialogues. If on Monday the dialogues are similar to the Proposal then I believe you have a case for plagiarism but until then it's just an idea that is similar but not plagiarized.

Does asad work for zoya?

Is zoya stuck up?

Are they going to meet Asad's parents?

The concept of marrying for citizenship can't been owned. Just like concept of love/hate relationship can't be. So no the Proposal team can't sue QH.

I am by no means saying that QH or for that matter Indian TV is original but your point is moot.

I suggest you watch the video "copyright - forever minus one day" on YouTube by CGP Grey it's very insightful.

The concept is not original anywhere - marriage/engagement to avoid deportation, just like you said. That can be used by anyone and it is used in many stories.

But the high-lightened part is subject to question. The scene I am talking about is in the pre-cap on Friday. That is "ideas, thoughts or expressions" from The Proposal's two scenes (one in the immigration office and one is Alaska's family meeting). The dialogues are not the same but the expressions and thoughts are parallel.

As you said plagiarism is subject to debate. As Zoya Akter said, you know it when you do it. So this is on the CVs' conscience. If they feel any guilt, then they will know they have borrowed a tad bit too much. If they don't, then they can sleep peacefully with the thought that they were "inspired." I was asking the CVs, don't know why members are getting so offended I said something negative about their beloved show. Last time I checked, this was a free-thinking forum much like IPK.

I am pretty sure I haven't been rude to you and I have in fact said that I do agree with you in parts, so I sincerely hope your last couple of lines weren't directed at me.

The "love test" part well yes I agree it could be seen as contentious but we haven't actually seen the scene to actually say it was done with the intention to copy The Proposal. As I said if it does then you are definitely right in saying that the idea was plagiarized but until then the expression and idea is open to interpretation.

Go go way back Delena, it was not you at all. I was speaking generally.

I'm sure they are not going have "On what side of the bed does the other sleep"? type dialogs.. 😆

LOL just did. Clarified a lot! Thanks for the added clarification tho 😊

I maintain you have a right to raise this as a valid question...and it is valid...but until the scene has aired I don't think any of us have a case.

Do you have link for the story that they say to their family about how Andrew proposed? I think that would really help. If you can find it, let me know, I would like to post them on the first page.
