The idea of deportation has no risk, happens and has been done many times. What is an issue is the copying of the scenes from the Proposal. Changing the dialogues a little doesn't make it any less of a copy in legal terms.

CVs, Gul described in the interview that you guys sat around brainstorming about the writing. While that scene is very nice, could you NOT have borrowed it from someone else's work?

Do you know what would happen if they sued you? You couldn't afford to fight against Sandra Bullock. Really expected better. Now many will flip out that I am being negative but the truth is the truth and if I didn't hold the CV team to a high standard, I would not have been disappointed. And I like this show a lot too, apart from the all knowing villains. I think it really picked up recently. They could have done the deportation thing without taking from someone else. I know the PH can do better. They have before.

And it may be a very small show compared to a Hollywood superstar but her company takes this stuff very seriously. As does all of Hollywood. How many warnings has Bollywood had in the past few years? They paid huge fines too, let's not forget. Gul's PH should stop right now and carry this on with their own brains rather than stealing someone else's work.

"Inspiration" or paraphrasing are pretty words for plagiarism. Let's call it what it is - STEALING.

Mary.

I am sure the moderators can decipher between what is bashing and what is criticism.

I wouldn't really call this plagiarism as the idea for the proposal itself wasnt original and the idea itself cannot be copyrighted...If QH had copied the premise then yes.. American soaps have done this story to the death. Back in 2007 on Days Ej and Sami got married to prove to an Immigration officer that Ej deserved to stay in the States...and I am pretty sure there are other movies that have done the story. I agree Gul could have played this out differently if she wanted to tho. 😊

The video is just one example of a positive post. I saw it online and posted it because it stood out.

Never said you shouldn't post what you don't like. Everyone on here does it at some point or the other. But when you only emphasize on what you don't like and never state anything good, when people see your name they automatically begin to think "Oh here she goes again" and think your "bashing".
Thats where comments like what Luckyforever made comes from.
Anyway...I dont think its stealing since everything that happened is not exactly like "The Proposal". Just my 2 cents.

You cannot copyright "ideas" but only the way you express it. Gul may have copied the idea, but has expressed(filmed) it very differently from the movie.. So don't worry, they are legally covered 😳

The deportation is the idea. That's can be done by anyone. The story of the proposal is not just an idea though.
