There will be many people who say that we are taking a television serial too seriously, but the impact of such scenes is very great on impressionable teenage girls, who feel abuse is acceptable if a guy is hot. This can actually trigger a cycle of violence in their life also,
I really wish Indian television shows women character with high self esteem.
Your letter is the first step in a long drawn fight.
Kudos to you and will support you always.

Beautifully said. Thank you. 😊

Yeah, I saw the post is nearly two months old but what worried me is the recent responses! 😕 For me, QH was divided into two eras... BM (before Mangalpur) and PM (post Mangalpur) now it's BS and PS... 😉 NO points for guessing the S.

Anyway, what I meant was.. I liked Asad too, until that day, and even after, I hoped he he would apologise for what he did, without waiting for Dilshad's clarification. That may have saved him in my eyes. But I was sorely disappointed that he only apologised after his mother explained. And even then, it didn't come across as whole hearted.

The one big myth that these shows propagate is how women manage to change men with their love, and that such a friggin myth! Hope you address this sometime in your posts! 😊

I've seen this in a number of posts. A frightening myth. We can influence the lives of others - we can have a huge impact on them. However, here we are putting a lot of pressure on Zoya's character to fix Asad's behavior towards her as well including the "S"ing problem.

Great job Laila!Hopefully our efforts wont go in vain.I am really overwhelmed by the tremondous support we are getting as to when I first came on here and took a stand.I was on one side forum of the and the majority were on the other. Then you came along Laila and took a stand with me against the violence which was shown on the 4th of Feb with me.Your support gave me the courage to go on and carry on voicing my opinions and slowly but surely more people started to show us their support in taking a stand with us..so we are not alone,we may be the minority here now, but hopefully in taking this one step further in writing this letter to th BCCC will pave the way for many more to voice their opinions just like we did...so that most importantly the PH can stop endorsments and promotion of such issues on shouldering the bandwagon and using it to their advantage for the sake of TRP'S and manipulation of any kind to the audience/reader's especially on a paltform such as this...India Forums, should stop taking it's course. The channels in all, should start taking careful consideration into what they air ,as romanticising violence of any form as love can have drastic effects on impressionable minds regardless of age, gender and the sentiments of those who have been through such heinous crimes should be of utmost concern as when such victims are exposed to their past being reflected in a show it leads to mirroring their experiences to send off triggers...(psychological effect on the brain)...they are forced to go through the dreadeded experiences again. This cruelty and insensitvity on Indian TV needs to stop and shouldd be addresssed in the approprate manner.

Well done and thanks to everyone again for showing your support...Priyanka,Aaliya,Mira,Adeeti,JoJo,Riya,Delena,etc,etc... and many more and special thanks to Laila off course for taking it this one step further in giving us an opportunity for our voices to be heard and a biig shout out to Prianka for being such an inspiration in getting ,that inner voice out of me to express openly on this forum without being afraid what the inpressionable minds make of me... as long as I firmly stand up for what I believe..Thankyou Pri!🤗.
I am so priviledged to have met all you wonderful people on here and hope to be friends for a very long time to come!🤗Dnt ever forget me guys.!...or else...lol..

It takes one person to take a stand and others will follow. Look at what it did! This can never happen alone. Sheer team work.

Well done! I am genuinely happy that action was taken against this issue, and what actually happens, or does not happen, after they see the letter is secondary. The people who contributed should be very proud. I hope the PHs, of not just this show, but all shows on Indian TV, stop making rash decisions while shooting scenes, regarding such serious issues!

Thank you. I might not anything done...BCCC could see this and just delete it but it was sent.

Hey Shaz,
My thoughts mirror yours! I'm glad we spoke our minds, and Laila, I'm glad you took the step. Kudos girl!

I wanted to complain and did some initial research on the BCCI. Actually, I must them one of our critics got me thinking... What's the point of complaining on this forum where neither the channel nor anyone from the PH visits?

That led me to the BCCI website and I shared the link with a bunch of you guys. I wasn't well. Than I was traveling and all the while, was worried we would lose the one-week timeline specified in the guidelines. But Laila came though for us! Way to go!

The website clearly states categories where entertainment channels need to self regulate and even has an advisory on the portrayal of women on telly. I hope laila's letter receives a response... And the matter is taken up.

It's it about QH, its about romanticisation of violence on television. If anyone watches any other show which is guilty of this, please write back!

Thank you for the information - I would never have known where to start...this was a great first step. And that it went out to other journalists - I feel this was a big step in the right direction. Then the Times of India article was just the icing on the cake.

Why not? We should be speaking out against all these kinds of scenes that promote violence towards women. As a female we should all be concerned don't you think?

And soTBH...I actually dig the violence (only if its just a slap and nothing like the way Rihanna ended up)
...I know i shouldn't but I guess it is because of the way the CV's presented the issue. The BGM, Asad's regret/pain - how could I not swoon?

Anyone watch Suits? One of the characters was slapped- by a woman, that too twice...and the man didn't reciprocate. If so much is said and done to prevent abuse against woman, shouldn't men deserve the same (yeah, yeah - they're stronger and what not..). I actually know someone who is beat up often by his wife 😆 (I shouldn't be laughing but still) and films in South India include scenes in which the wife beats her husband - as comic relief!
Cheers to hoping India grows, at least where TV is concerned.
But this is just an opinion from an immature and irresponsible 22 year old! So, I don't know if I'm right- so anyone (Laila) point me in the right direction.

Sorry if this is out of topic or too long,
and respect to those who put int time and effort to send the letter!

It is a cultural issue. No woman in the west would give a man an excuse to slap her. However, in India and other eastern cultures (eg. Middle East, China etc) women are taught that if your spouse/boyfriend/future lover/host slaps you, it is his right and that you must have done something wrong. It's actually very degrading and humiliating. It should utter disrespect towards the person. Even if Zoya had put his mother's life in danger, she was not an evil person and no ill intent. She truly felt terrible and heartbroken. She would live her life with regret - is that not punishment enough? Fortunately she was not responsible, but still the act should not have happened.

The redemption track left many members very disappointed. And that only made matters worse.

Look at the support system we have built! 😊 Maybe not today but if this support continues something positive will happen eventually!

We're talking about QH...not other shows. Let us not detract from the issue.
