I don't think its a muslim mentality for women to wear traditional clothing while men can wear whatever. I live here in the USA, and I wear jeans and whatnot, just like Zoya. On the whole, from my summers in India, I saw that be it Hindu/Muslim/Sikh, regardless of religion, culturally it was more acceptable for women to wear cultural clothes and it was not okay to wear jeans and stuff (atleast not in the city). Conservatism reigns in every religion and India is tilted to the conservative side.

Besides depending on geographic/country region, urban vs rural setting, it also depends on family. My family from my father's side is more conservative and their girls in India don't wear jeans, but my mom's family there does.

Asad is just conservative in his beliefs, which, like I said, every religion has a conservative side - which in almost all cases looks at women to be clothed in cultural/non "western" clothing etc.

The pants thing you mentioned, about it being rolled above the ankles - this is something I see alot of Indo/Pak/Bengali muslims do. There's a saying of the prophet to not let your robe hang down so that it drags on the floor - you know, like kings do with their capes and whatnot - because kings and lords did it from arrogance, to show off their wealth and how much cloth they could buy with the embroidery and gold stitching they could afford. Therefore, the prophets companions used to be careful by keeping their robes ankle length or a bit higher, so as to avoid that. I guess my desi brothers do that too, taking it to a slight extreme some times. My dad and uncles who live in India roll their pants up like that too.

Nice explanation. Thanx.

🤗...Missed you.

Hypocritical for sure. Controversial well not in a patriarchal society because that is the norm there. Certainly controversial among feminists however.

Nisha🤗

Yes it is me! Are we about to commit another 4Lions mistake!

Yes, I know what you mean, "controversial" would be subjective but I meant from my perspective as in his views for me personally are "controversial" - "tehzeeb" is not lost by wearing denim.

Yeah me too. I didn't see any movie in theater since 2009 and this year I have already seen 3 movies. Kahaani, Vicky Donor and Barfi. Loved all 3.

Wearing ankle high pants do have religious significance. I don't know what though.

I have seen guys inmy family wearing regular length but would fold pants when praying.

Yeah its ouma 😃 😛
Yes certainly cotroversial for you (if I know you at all 😛) and definitely for me. And if your tehzeeb is lost by wearing denim then boy you have some superficial tehzeeb. Thats like saying by wearing short clothes I lose my manners. The absurdity of it... 😆
As to committing to another 4Lions show. I didnt know this was a 4Lions show. They recently ruined my other fav show called Arjun (they killed the main girl off). In my opinion we are committing a big blunder by committing to yet another 4Lions show. Better get out before it gets too late.

Also, I have one observation. I don't know much about the religion but I had few Muslim colleagues(Guys) who used to wear Pant to work with the seam not touching their shoes. As in they would fold the pant couple of inch above the ankle. Does this have some religious explanation?

Because when a man prays his ankles should not be covered... 😆

This show any good ?

Very patriarchal...

Aisha 😃 🤗
So are we all gathering here. 😛

The guy is quite patriarchal...shockingly so. But the girl is modern. So its another case of opposite meets opposite. This must be a 4Lions trend. I wouldnt really recommend it since 4Lions has a way of ruining all things good. I dont know how they do it...they must have a talent for it because it takes quite a bit effort to take something everyone loves and just smash it.
