i have a question too.I am not a Muslim either, so am really confused. So whenever I see pics of inside a mosque, It's plain. There are just prayer halls. What I saw here was different. They were candles , and roses in the prayer room, and what looked like a place filled with a lot of flowers.I know I sound like a idiot, but I don't any of these. So,what's the difference between a mosque here, and what they showed today?😕

Wen muslims to go dargaah, or a mizaar, they're not asking' for anythign from the person who's burried there...They're sending peace an blessings on them, and asking Allah to grant their prayers, as He would'v eanswered the religious/pious person lying in that grave...

So by praying there, we're not asking that person to give us anything...which is ofcourse haraam...
i hope that answers ur question.

Aya...The place where the 3 were today was not a mosque..it's called a Mizaar...It's supposed to be the burial site of a very pious person.
People come there to offer their respects...you know like Fateha for the dead person...some go their just for the peace and tranquility that can be found there...but I guess...some also believe that making dua in the saint's presence will make it more weighty and therefore more likely to be accepted by Allah...sort of like a go between.
I've been to a couple of Mizaars on my visit to India...but I just went to pay my respects...I personally don't believe in asking from anyone but Allah...as prescribed by Islam.
But you have to understand...this is a cultural ritual that over time has infiltrated the religious practices of the muslims of that locality. Since this show is based in Bhopal, India...it's only natural for the CVs to show them going to a Mizaar.

I didn't understand the candles & flowers too. Was there even a dead person there ? I don't think so.

A masjid (mosque) is a place where muslims come together for prayers and read namaaz.

What they showed today was a mazar/dargah/wali...Muslims don't pray there as they pray their 5 daily prayers. We pray in a specific way. However in this place shown today, you go to make a prayer and join your hands and pray for the deceased souls who spread the message of Islam.

The proper place to pray for muslims are mosques, but you can go to dargahs to make a wish and or a prayer.

Aww...don't call yourself an idiot...I think it's very smart of you to want to learn about something you don't know...
Anyways...a mosque or masjid is a place of worship...like a temple, or church. Muslims don't worship idols...so their places of worship are very neat, clean, plain...no pictures...no idols...like you've described.
But where the 3 were today is a mizaar...its like the burial site of a very pious saint. People usually just go there to pay there respects or to make duas, or for inner reflection.
Hope that helped.

A mosque is a place where muslims pray to allah but a dargah or what you saw in the episode is a place where you pray for the person buried there.

Hey ! : )

Thanks for commenting.

I'm a Muslim myself, but wanted to know why some Muslims go there, because my family members told me it's wrong, since the people ask the guy instead of asking Allah.
But anyway, thanks for clearing it out for me.

It's not wrong to go there. Some people believe it is, but as long as you still ask and desire what you want directly from Allah, its not a sin to pray for the deceased saint there and make a prayer directly to Allah for the sake of the deceased. And no problem, hope you get it now.
