Chapter 13:

It was Valentine's Day! Adi and Pankhu woke up in the morning, all happy and smiling! This was the first V Day that they both had someone they wanted to share the day with.

Knock Knock

Avantika: Pankhu, are you up dear?

Pankhu: Haan Mom. Coming...

Pankhu reaches the breakfast table to see it filled with bouquets and gifts. At the same time, Avantika, Preeti and Sheela reach.

Preeti: Di, look at the bouquets. This one is labeled as yours, that is Bhabhi's and this is mine. What about the last one? Whose one is that?

Pankhu who had not noticed this looks up. Her eyes begin to search the bouquets, hoping they were from Adi for her. Her heart skipped a beat as Avantika replied Preeti.

Avantika: It's labeled as Pankhu. And it's from ...

Pankhu looks at the bouquet with hope.

Avantika: It's from Kullu from the Gupta Family.

Pankhu's smile fades and her eyes lose the magic.

Adi who had just reached the dining table notices the look on Pankhu's face and gains more confidence and hope.

Adi: Good Morning Everyone! Happy Valentine's Day!

He proceeds to give a hug to Avantika, Sheila Mami and Preeti Maasi. He walks towards Pankhu. Pankhu's heartbeat increases and she slowly starts blushing. Just then,

Nanu: Ahem, Good Morning everyone

The two of them turn to look at Nanu and decide to settle down at the table.

Nanu: Anuj, as usual it's half day right?

Anuj: Yes Dad, Arrangements have been made for the Valentine's Day party tonight

Avantika: Haan Dad, we will be back after lunch and we'll need to head for the party at 6pm.

Preeti: Dad, you will be joining us right?

Nanu: Of course Preeti, I can't miss the events of the Deewan Group of Industries can I?

Avantika: Pankhu, you too must join us

Pankhu: No Mom, please go ahead.

Sheila: Oh come on Pankhu, it will be fun. Besides, there will be no one at home.

Pankhu looks at Adi who is seated opposite her.

The three of them head to the store where the Deewans usually purchase their clothings.

Adi: Hello Mr Mehta

Mehta: Hi Mr Aditya Kumar! What a surprise! And Mrs Avantika Kumar... How can I help you today?

Avantika: I'm looking for clothes for a dinner and dance.

Adi leaves the two of them and proceed to buy his things.

As Adi comes back, he notices Pankhu looking uncomfortable.

Adi: Pankhu, are you okay?

Pankhu: Yes, I'm fine

Adi: Really? You look uncomfortable

Pankhu: No, I'm fine

Adi: Where's Mom?

Pankhu: She's trying out her clothes

Adi: Then let's get an ice cream

Pankhu: Are you joking?

Adi: No, I'm serious. Let's go.

Pankhu: What about Mom?

Adi: Don't worry

He turns to Mr Mehta

Adi: Mr Mehta, please let mom know that we have left and as for the bill, please send it to our office.

Mr Mehta: Okay Mr Kumar, have a good day. You too Mam

Pankhu follows Adi to the ice cream parlour.

Adi: Here's your ice cream.

Pankhu: Thanks

Adi: Hey Pankhu, have you gotten everything you need?

Pankhu: Mom was saying we needed to get heels

Adi: I can't wait to see how you'll look

Avantika: Me too

Adi: Mom, are you done?

Avantika: Last one - Shoe Shopping

Adi: Let's go

They reach the shoe shop and Adi waits as the two ladies get their heels. Later, Adi drops Avantika at the office and head home with Pankhu. They decide to have their dance practice since their class for the day got cancelled.

At the dance studio,

The lights go off and Adi informs Pankhu that he will go with the instructor to check the cause of the problem. Pankhu waits alone when she hears a sound and turns. She sees a spotlight on Adi who is standing there all alone. Before she can say a word, music is being played

Adi walks forward and begins singing.

He looks in Pankhu's eyes and holds her hands.

Pankhu has tears in her eyes as she looks back at Adi

Teraa meraa rishtaa hai kaisaa
Ik pal door gawaaraa nahi
Tere liye har roz hain jeete
Tujh ko diyaa meraa waqt sabhi
Koi lamhaa meraa naa ho tere binaa
Har saans pe naam teraa

A drop rolls down her cheeks and Adi wipes it away lovingly.

Tere liye hi jiyaa main
Khud ko jo yoon de diya hai
Teri wafaa ne mujh ko sambhaalaa
Saare ghamon ko dil se nikaala
Tere saath mera hai naseeb judaa
Tujhe paa ke adhoora naa raha

Adi slowly goes on his knees still holding her hands.

Kyonki tum hi ho
Ab tum hi ho
Zindagi, ab tum hi ho
Chain bhi, meraa dard bhi
Meri aashiqui ab tum hi ho X2

Adi: Pankhu, I could never get a better person than you in my life! You've changed me for the better and I know my life would be bare without you. Will you please be with me, not just for today, till death does us apart?

Pankhu kneels down and looks at Adi in his eyes.

Pankhu: What more can I ask for? Yes, I will!

Adi leans over and places a kiss on Pankhu's cheek and immediately she blushes. Just then, they hear claps! Pankhu turns around to see the Deewan and Gupta family there

Pankhu: Dadaji, Maa, Papa...

Dadaji: Pankhuri, you don't have to explain anything. Our blessings are with you both.

Pankhu looks at her parents and notices their joyful expression. Avantika rushes forward and hugs her.

Avantika: Congratulations Adi!

Adi: Thanks Mom!

Pankhu: But Mom...

Avantika explains to Pankhu everything and mentions that she had already informed the Gupta Family and had invited them to be a part of this. Just then, all of them hear a noise. As they turn to the direction of the noise,

Rubel, Kaira, Payal: Surprise!

Pankhu: Rubel, Kaira...

Rubel: Shocked aren't you?

Kaira: Pankhu, how can we be absent from such a beautiful happening! If Adi had told us earlier, we would be there physically. But since we got the news delayed, we pestered him to let us be part of this through Skype.

Rubel: Congratulations Adi and Pankhu! And btw, Pankhu, this is Payal and Payal, this is Pankhuri.

Payal: Congratulations to you both!

Adi and Pankhu: Thank you Payal!

Rubel: Anyway, we'll catch up with you in the evening.

Adi: Okay! Take care!

Nanu: Pankhu, I have something for you

Pankhu: What is it Nanaji?

Nanu: I will tell you in the evening. Now, let's head home and relax.

As the family leave, Adi holds Pankhu's hand.
