Jim- Piya, you are in no state to go to another bar. You have had enough to drink. I don't want any perv taking advantage of you. You could get into a lot of trouble in this state. I am taking you home, no questions asked.

Piya- WTH! Who put you incharge of me? You cant tell me what to do!

Jim remarked sarcastically- I appreciate your gratitude for everything I have been doing for you the past few days. Could you be any more selfish Piya!

Piya- Neither did I ask for your help nor do I need it. Now let me go! I wanna go to another bar. I heard there is one at the corner of the next alley. Its about time I change my drink station.

Jim- Are you out of your mind Piya! You cant go there. That blasted place is nothing but trouble. The cops raided that place twice this month on suspicion of iilegal drug trade.

Piya's eyes twinkled with satisfaction- Its perfect then!

Jim- Have you lost it? You are actually thinking of going to that God forsaken place! Damnit Piya! Why are you doing this to yourself?

Piya drifted- Because it's the only way..

Jim- You are not making any sense and I am not surprised because you are barely ever sober. Come on, I'll drop you home.

Piya- hmm, looks like I have to do something about you. Sorry but this is going to hurt.

Piya banged Jim's head against the car window. He fell to the ground unconscious. She felt remorse for what she did but her senses were way too blurred to care too much about Jim. She slowly made her way towards the pub around the corner. Somewhere in her heart, she knew this time he would come for her. She would make sure of it.

Back in Chicago, Ayaan was having a troubled dream. His mind had been restless ever since the night he had been healed by his angel and he couldn't understand why. But tonight his dream was shaping itself like a vision. It was so clear that he could feel it happening in reality. He saw Piya and a man with his arm around her. Piya looked very scared. Ayaan tried to reach out to her but he couldn't get to her. The man was holding something in his hand. It was a gun. He was going to hurt Piya. Ayaan screamed loudly waking up from his dream. He was sweating with worry. Did his dream have any meaning? Was Piya is trouble? He couldn't understand what was happening but he knew this much that he needed to talk to Piya and make sure she is okay. The door slammed open and Misha and Kabir came rushing in. Misha sat beside Ayaan and stroked his head.

Misha- Did you have a nightmare? Its okay sweetie. Its not real.

Ayaan caught Misha's hand in a tight grip- Mom, I want to talk to Piya. Please, its important.

Misha was surprised at Ayaan's weird behaviour- Its very late Ayaan. We cant call Piya now. You can talk to her in the morning, okay?

Ayaan screamed- nooo!! I need to talk to her now.

Misha getting angry- Ayaan stop it! What is this? Is this the way to behave? Enough is enough. Go to sleep. I'll call Piya first thing in the morning.

Ayaan- no, it will be too late by then.

Misha sighed. She knew how stubborn her son could get. He wont go to sleep till he talks to Piya. She left Ayaan with Kabir and went to her room to get her phone. She called on the number Piya gave before leaving. The call connected but no one was picking up. Misha tried a few more times but got no answer. She went back to Ayaan's room.

Misha- Ayaan, Piya is probably asleep. She is not picking up. Its 2 in the morning. Do you expect her to be awake anyway?

Ayaan grew more worried. He knew Piya was a light sleeper and she would pick up her phone even if she was asleep. Something was terribly wrong. He could feel it in his bones. His mind flashed to Abhay. The thought of Abhay made him shake with fear. The night when Abhay attacked him was still fresh in his memory but he also knew that Abhay saved his angel that night. He took Piya with him and she came back all well. Maybe Abhay likes his angel. Maybe he could help.

Ayaan turned to Misha- I want to talk to Abhay.

Misha was even more confused now- Who is Abhay now?

Ayaan- He knows Piya. He will help me.

Misha looked helplessly towards Kabir. Kabir was also very confused by Ayaan's behaviour. Why was Ayaan suddenly worried about Piya? But when Kabir heard Ayaan take Abhay's name, he got to thinking. The name Abhay seemed familiar. He thought hard about it and then realized where he had heard the name. Abhay used to be one of the regulars at his bar. He saw Piya and Abhay together a few times in the bar. But he was confused as to how Ayaan knew Abhay.

Kabir- Ayaan, how do you know Abhay?

Ayaan didn't want to tell his father the truth because he knew he wouldn't believe him. He had to lie- Piya told me that Abhay is her friend. He will know where Piya is. I want to talk to Abhay.

Kabir- Ayaan, why are you doing this? Are you hiding something from us? What's wrong?

Ayaan decided to partly reveal the truth- I saw a dream where Piya is in trouble. I just want to make sure she is okay.

Misha laughed at her son's innocence- Ayaan sweetie, its just a dream. I am sure Piya is fine. If she was in trouble, she would have called us for help. So stop worrying okay.

Ayaan- Please mom ! Just call Abhay once. I wont bother you about it again.

Misha gave in- Fine but I don't even know this Abhay. How will I get his number?

Kabir nudged Misha and said to her in hushed tones- I have this guy's number. He is a customer at the bar and he booked the VIP room a couple of times. His number must be there in the registry.

Misha- Do you really want to support this madness? Ayaan is behaving strange. He is just missing Piya, that's all. This is probably just an excuse he is making up to talk to Piya.

Kabir- Maybe, but lets just do what he says and put his mind to rest. I have to admit that even I am a little worried about Piya. She hasn't called once since she moved away. If Ayaan thinks this Abhay can get to Piya then so be it.

Misha- okay, its your call.

Abhay was walking mindlessly through an abandoned street. He had no idea where he was; he just kept walking. His mind was lay ravaged and torn apart. He didn't know what to do anymore. He wanted to punish Piya but he didn't want to see her hurt. He wanted to tear her apart but he also wanted her to be safe. It was as if he had two personalities. One wanted to destroy Piya and tear away every hope of happiness from her and the other wanted to protect her and love her. His hatred for Piya was much stronger but his affections for her were strong enough to sabotage his every attempt at hurting Piya. This stupid pathetic angel was playing with his mind. He couldn't let her overpower him. He was a powerful supernatural being while she was a fallen angel stripped of her powers. He had to break away every emotional tie that bound him to her which is why he had decided to stay away from her till he frees his mind completely from these human ties. And then nothing would stop him from making Piya suffer a nightmare worse than hell. A noise broke him away from his thoughts. It was his phone ringing. He checked the caller ID. He couldn't recognize the number. He picked up the phone and got a good surprise. It was Ayaan, his first pawn in Piya's destruction.

Ayaan's voice was shaking with fear- Hello, is this Abhay?

Abhay- Well arent you a brave one. You picked up the nerve to call me. Did you forget our last meeting boy?

Ayaan tried to sound stern- I remember well and I am not scared of you.

Abhay smirked- Your voice tells me otherwise. I can bet you wet your pants by now. WTH do you want?

Ayaan gulped hard. He was relieved that Abhay was on the phone and not in front of him- I want you to check on Piya.

Abhay was irked now- What did you say to me? What do you think I am- a personal assistant or a babysitter. What made you think I'll help you.. You clearly need another dose of my wrath I think.

Ayaan's knees were shaking with fear. He was on the verge of bursting into tears but he had to stay strong'for Piya. He continued- Piya is in trouble. Please help her. You saved her before so you must like her. Please mister, save her. She needs your help.

Abhay was surprised at Ayaan's words. Why would the boy think Piya is in trouble? She is safe, he saw to that. There must be something wrong or this boy would never have mustered the strength to call him. Abhay could feel the human emotions rise in him. He cant take any chances when it comes to Piya. Abhay cut the call. He went to the only place he knew Piya could be in.

Piya had been sitting around in the pub for hours washing away her senses with more and more booze. The pub seemed just like Jim's bar. There was nothing unusual and no trouble had come her way as such. She started to wonder if Jim was even right about this place when a man in his late 30s wearing a black leather jacket and worn out trousers came her way. His breath was stinking of booze and his eyes looked moony." Hey babe, you new here?".

Piya nodded her head. The man looked her up and down and licked his lips."You look pretty strung out. But what's all this baby stuff you are drinking! A girl like you should know how to have fun right".

He leaned in and whispered in her ear, "I got some stuff that's pretty heavy but it's a hell of a lot more fun than all this". Even with all the booze in her system, she could sense trouble which reeled her in even more. Abhay would have to come for her now. Piya threw her arms around the man." I am all yours".

The man then pulled out a plastic bag from inside his jacket which was filled with a fine white powder. He poured some into his hand and held it up. Piya snorted some of the powder and felt herself go over the moon. The man was right. This stuff was so much better than booze. Piya leaned in for more but he took his hand away. "The first sniff was free, but now you gotta pay for it". Piya titled her head and blinked," Can I afford it?".

The man leaned in and kissed her neck repeatedly. Piya felt disgusted and pushed him away. The man caught hold of her arms tightly and was about to molest her when he got distracted by a huge rucus behind. The cops had raided the place and had found some guys snorting cocaine. They were arresting the owners and employees of the pub. They was a huge commotion. Piya couldnt get a hold on what was happening. The man caught her arm and pushed her out the back door and into the back alley. Some cops were waiting there also. He panicked seeing the cops surrounding him. He held Piya tightly with one arm and with the other he reached into his back pocket and pulled out a gun. The cops immediately pointed their guns at him. Piya was scared now. She yearned for Abhay. All she wanted now was to be safe in his arms.

Abhay went to Jim's bar which was Piya's usual evening haunts. The bar was empty now. Jim had closed the bar for the night. Abhay found Jim cleaning the tables. He was holding an ice pack to his head and moaning in pain. Abhay walked up to him.

Abhay- Where is Piya?

Jim- I am not sure. She wacked me over the head and went off. I tried to stop her. I think she may have gone to that pub around the corner.

Abhay was simmering with anger- You left her alone? I compelled you to look after her you idiot! You were supposed to follow her.

Jim scratched his head in confusion- When I woke up, she was gone. I didn't know where to go. I was confused.

Abhay gritted his teeth- Forget it. I'll go find her myself. Its my fault anyway for trusting a human to do something right for once.

Abhay walked off leaving Jim even more confused than before. As soon as Abhay came out he heard some commotion. It was coming from the place Jim mentioned. He ran as fast as human pace would allow. He didn't want an audience to his supernatural powers tonight. There was a couple of cop cars parked outside. He closed his eyes and concentrated on Piya. She was in the back alley. He rushed out back and the sight before him dug out some of the long repressed human emotions in him. A man was holding Piya hostage with a gun pointed towards her head. He was screaming to the cops to let him go. The cops backed away and lowered their guns. The man loosened his hold on Piya and slowly took his arm away. His car parked in the back alley. He reached out his hand to open the car door. Piya caught sight of Abhay standing near the back door. Relief washed through her seeing his face. She had missed him a lot. Her face broke into a smile. Abhay couldn't help himself but smile back. The man was going to duck into the car seat when one of the cops raised his gun again and fired. The man had already caught sight of the gun before the firing and pushed Piya in front of him. In the length of that second, all the happy moments spent with Piya flashed before Abhay's eyes. All that he truly felt for her, all the love he held for her filled his heart. As the bullet pierced her chest, Abhay could feel his heart being ripped out of him. Her lifeless body fell to the floor, her outstretched arm trying to reach out to him. Abhay slowly made his way to her. He held her unconscious body in his arms. The world disappeared around him as he leaned in and planted her face with kisses. He muttered with all the passion in his heart" don't die on me again".

That was awesome Anji 👏 Loved the way u differentiated between the 2 sides to Abhay, one that wants to destroy Pia n the other that wants to shield her from all trouble 😳 The last part was magnificent, the way u described Pia reaching out to Abhay, the bullet piercing her chest, n then Abhay's dead heart getting ripped to pieces was heartbreaking n it was beautifully written 👏
