Is Rani's career unimpressive?

I'm putting together a movie list for some people and I was thinking that I don't have much Rani films in there so I went to her imdb page. And aside from Black and maybe Saathiya and Yuva, I don't see any noteworthy roles or films.

Most of her films have had a bad story and didn't work, or the film is good but she had little to do in it like in KKHH and K3G. I had hopes for Talaash but her acting was only mediocre there. I suppose she was a little better in NOKJ.

I remember when Bunty aur Babli came out, people watched it but they talked more about Aish's dance than Rani and now Bunty aur Babli in her filmography looks like a joke. She has the same problem as Kareena. Instead of doing a performance oriented role, she did Aiyya as her comeback film which was more about skin show (hers and Prithviraj's).

Is Rani a disappointment? She doesn't have that much to show considering that she has been in the industry for 16 yrs.

She has spark and has a definite better career graph than her contemporaries given that her time did not offer much to actresses. Not her fault though - but she is definitely skilled in her craft.

Bunty aur Babli is definately on the plus side of her filmography. Great role. Fun movie

I so agree with this X1000

It's not Rani's fault!! Name any actress in her time that has impressive work? I think she did great with whatever she was given. She is a tremendous actress and proved that in Black. If she was offered more female oriented roles she would've excel in it

Say what? Actress of her time doing impressive work? You're talking as if today actresses are doing so much better.

She did manage Veer Zaara, Black, Chalte Chalte, Bunty aur Babli, Saathiya, NOKJ in those regressive times and its no mean feat.

she did the best she could with whT she was offered. bollywood really was uninventive back then. how many can you possibky write a love story?

@Jodhabai - Atleast a Kahaani is written now and a Dirty picture has takers. Masala movies are far and few and every top rank actresses now prefer a meaty role except for maybe Sonakshi, Asin and Katrina.

I cannot imagine anyone thinking of a Kahaani in 90s. People will laugh at you and will not finance. Thats not the case now definitely.

Now there are more opportunities. Every movie made in the last couple of years unless its a biopic or a traditional masala fare has a strong female character.

I'm not saying there are better actresses today but you have to admit the roles they are getting are much better. Vidya in dirty picture, Priyanka in fashion, Deep in cocktail!
