PART 16

Geet, stop this nonsense. You can hit me as much as you want later, but right now stop thrashing or we both will fall and hurt ourselves. He said walking out of the bushes. Walking towards the car, he finally set her on her feet but didn't loosen his hold on her. Geet puffed her face with anger and tried getting out his hold but it only increased all the while irritating him. Finally he snapped; seized both her hands and pinned them on the car along with pinning her to the car. Unknowingly Geet relaxed under his hold, as his fingers entwined with hers. Both realized the position they were in and neither were bothered by the closeness. They both stared at each other in a trance, totally dazed as their proximity took over their conscious senses, making both aware of the unsaid bond that bound them together. Maan always knew it but now it was Geet who felt it a lot more strongly than how she felt over the week. Today's confrontation undoubtedly changed a lot between them, for good. Feeling her relaxing under his touch, Maan leaned towards her, his lips a few inches from her ears.

Geet, don't tire yourself because you can't beat me. I am stronger than you. So can we save the antics for later and leave now.? It's getting darker and we should go now. He whispered huskily sending a shiver down her spine and snapping her out of her trance. Maan freed her from his grip noticing her flushed expression and opened the car door for her.

I still can't believe that you misunderstood about me and Yash, and went away to London because of us.! Maan.. How could you.? You could have asked once, I would have told you everything..She questioned him with a sad face.

Geet, please lets not talk about this right now. It was entirely my fault and I admit I should have clarified things before going away like that. It was rather stupid of me, I wont give any excuses but you can surely I see I had my own reasons. I am truly sorry for putting you through pain with my behavior. He spoke sincerely taking her hand in his and giving it a slight squeeze, apologizing for his behaviour. With a smile he gestured her to take a seat in the car to which she quietly obliged. Maan sighed in relief and took the drivers seat with a loving glance at her. Within minutes they were speeding through the dark surroundings of the jungle. The car reeked of an awkward silence as neither of them knew how to break through it. Maan on one hand wanted to share everything with her but was skeptical about her silence while on the other hand Geet wanted him to confide the truth in her though she had no intention to probe it out of him. After a few more moments, the silence was unbearable for either of them and had to be broken.

Maan...

Geet... Both called out in unison seeking each other's attention.

You go ahead first. Maan said looking straight ahead on the road avoiding meeting her gaze as he knew deep down what she might be willing to ask. Geet looked down at her hands fidgeting with her fingers unable to gather words to ask him. Maan sensed her uneasiness and decided to make it easier for her.

You want to know about what happened over the past week, right.? He said looking amusingly at her. Her head snapped up hearing his words and feeling relieved knowing he understood her confusion. Seeing him waiting for an answer, she meekly nodded positively.

You don't need to feel so embarrassed Geet, you can always ask me anything you want to.! Understand.? He said looking at her and taking her hand in his. His action set her heart racing, why would his touch always manage to bring out the different side of her. Although troubled by her heart, yet his touch would do the magic and she would feel complete. Without hesitation, she let him hold her hand in one of his while his other hand was intact on the wheel. He looked at her with a pleasant smile on his face, a smile which she saw after a long time.

So, what happened.? Why were you... She asked him stopping abruptly and looking at him with a confused look. Maan understood her dilemma and nodded looking back to the road.

Geet, last week when I was about to leave for KC in the morning I got a call from London informing me about the illegal transfer of money in KC in the London branch. I was shocked hearing the news. Since KC is an Indian based company and I happen to be working from here as the head, the IT department had to be involved. I was given immediate orders to report to them or else KC would be sealed in London. I was shocked beyond anything to learn about the activities behind my back. Without wasting more time I immediately went and reported to their officer. Since the issue was in London, they couldn't do much but to first approach me and interrogate me. A team was sent to London to investigate about the same while I was interrogated. They needed proof of all the records of KC, so I called Adi and asked him to arrange everything by the time I reach KC with the officer. He was confused but I promised to tell him afterwards. The media didn't have a clue about this again because of the branch being in London, and the news wasn't leaked out yet. The girl who I came to the office with was Diana, she was an IT officer. We settled in the cabin and she checked every detail of KC , while her team joined in a few hours later from London. They are tough nuts to crack but I somehow requested them to keep it a secret from the staff and after repeated efforts she finally accepted my request and they started matching the records while I was interrogated. She wasn't satisfied and wanted further investigation so I was asked to report to their office. They searched a lot but couldn't trace out any illegal activity in KC except for that one unknown transaction. I was exhausted from the mental stress but finally I was asked to go home but my phone was seized and I was asked not to step into KC while they were investigating. The problem was they didn't have any proof against me or they would have sealed KC that day itself. I somehow came home distraught from the days events when it struck me how I behaved with you and it might have hurt you. I was restless to meet you but I was given strict instructions of not revealing this to anyone, not even you because you were an employee of KC too. I was into all of it alone. I could see the questions in your eyes, but I wasn't allowed to answer them Geet. He spoke without a break and finally looked at her to find her staring at him with tears clouding her eyes. The next second the car screeched to a halt as Maan stomped on the brakes.

Geet.? What happened.? Why are you crying.? He said panicking, and raising his hands to wipe away her tears which were already cascading down her cheeks. He wiped her tears away with his thumb while she just kept staring at him blankly.

You were.. Going through so much of it alone and you never let us know anything. Why.? I blamed you so much without knowing anything.! How could I.? She spoke with a broken voice, regretting for not being able to read the pain in his eyes. Somehow she felt guilty for not being able to read his pain while enduring her pain. Before she could say any further, his palm sealed her words inside her lips.

Please Geet, don't blame yourself . I know how much I was hurting you but it was my only option. You were right in your place to demand an explanation from me because you deserve one. So don't blame yourself , okay.? He asked her to which she nodded but wasn't convinced with herself. The car was back to it's speed when Maan spoke again.

The investigation went on for the rest 3 days while the London employes were interrogated in my presence for the communication gap issues. I kept reporting to them for interrogation everyday for hours, as it just kept getting messier. They doubted employes here too but the records here were very clean for them to take any action. After repeated searches and going through every detail of KC, they finally managed to get a hang of the culprits.. It was never KC's fault, it was all a fraud of a London based rivals who framed us all in it and it got exposed in front of them. They alerted the London officials for the same issue today morning and KC was declared clean. I left the place and hurried towards KM to see if I can still find you but you were gone. Freshening up, I reached KC but learnt that your were away from KC for site visit. I explained everything to Adi, but your absence was making me restless. I kept trying your number but it was out of reach and asked Adi to trace you as it was nearing evening. When we called the site, they informed that you left long back which worried me. I immediately left KC in search of you asking Adi to keep me informed. After calling you and not getting through he informed me after which I called you. I heard you but before I could speak the call went dead. Finally I spotted you car and was relived to see you were safe. He finished mumbling the end bit to himself. When he turned to look at Geet, he saw her staring at him with a serene smile.

Maan, are you okay.?? Were they harsh on you.? I have always hear them to be the worst, when it comes to interrogations. She asked with deep concern in her voice which made Maan's heart melt. She cared for him and it was the most he needed to be happy, yet he knew she harbored something beyond care for him and it was time he makes her admit it.

Believe me Geet, I am fine. They were harsh with words, but they couldn't touch me physically as they had no proofs against me in particular and were still investigating. Trust me, I am fine . Are you okay.? He eyed her questionably but she was too lost in him to realize anything.

I am okay...now.! She blurted out in trance to which Maan's smile widened with happiness. He could see the unsaid feelings in her eyes and her actions, yet he wanted her to admit them. Seizing his chance, he decided to tease her for a change in atmosphere.

Now.? So you are okay now, since I am there other wise how were you.? Why do I matter so much to you that my ignorance and absence makes you restless.? He asked her with a serious face. As his question struck her she realized what she had blurted out, and bit her tongue looking down in embarrassment. Maan chuckled seeing her looking down with a flushed face. The little blush on her face stirred his controlled emotions and all he wanted to do was to kiss her senseless.

Bolo na Geet, I am waiting. I want to know why I matter to you so much.? What does my presence or absence do to you. I want to know what's in your heart. He asked sincerely this time with the love oozing out in his voice, the love which he possessed for her. Though he was dying to hear her admit her true emotions, yet he didn't want them to be forced. Geet's eyes shot up hearing his questions with the change in his tone. She was sure of her changed emotions and Maan effected her in every way possible, be it his absence or his presence. Geet averted her gaze making an effort to hide her nervousness. His silence confirmed he was waiting for an answer.

Maan, I need sometime. She said looking out the window. She regretted saying those words but it was out of nervousness she blurted it out. Though her words were simple, yet they stung him in a different way. He wasn't prepared for such a reaction but he respected her. If time is what she needed, he would give her that. Before she could take them back, it was too late.

Take as much as time as you need Geet. He said smiling at her, with a tinge of pain in his eyes, but he was sure of what he saw in her eyes was as passionate as what he possessed for her; immense love. The ride to KM was in silence as neither of them talked. As Maan pulled into the premises, he glanced at her to find her sleeping with a smile on her face as a response to which a smile stretched across his lips seeing her sleeping contently with the smile on her heavenly face. Careful not to wake her up, he picked her petite form in his arms with the most lightest touch ever and carried her through the mansion. Geet who felt his touch even in her sleep, wrapped her arms around his neck snuggling into him as he carried her up the stairs. Reaching her room, he gently laid her on the bed and pried her tight hold off his neck with a small chuckle, laughing at her hold on him which gives away much of her emotions. Settling her in her bed, he quietly moved out of the room with a hope of her realizing her feelings soon enough , which were mostly evident to him. Tired from the exhaustive week, Maan lay on his bed and quickly slipped into unconsciousness with their close moments colouring his dreams.

It was around early morning Geet woke up with her heart thudding with restlessness. As she woke up, her moments with Maan in the jungle flashed infront of her eyes. His words echoed in her her ears, as she tried to control her erratic heart. As she sat there remembering each and every moment she spent with him, her own words rang in her mind making her restless. She knew the extent of the effect Maan has on her, she was aware of the pain she feels seeing his ignorance. As she remembered her words, the slight tinge of pain in his voice when he accepted her request hit her hard. The thought of hurting him with her words were enough to bring out the hidden emotion in her heart, she could never hurt him, she was never able to bear the cold look on his face, she could never tolerate the pain evident on his face and all of it had only one name; Love.! A smile broke across her face as the realization dawned upon her, she was in madly and deeply in love with Maan; her Dusht Danav. His questions seeped back into her memory, her restless heart wanted to answer him, but she was too shy to confront him yet. Finding no other option, she yanked out a paper from her table and poured out her emotions onto it, remembering each moment spent with him, her happiness, her craziness, her passion and her pain.

Kyo?? Kyo chodha mujhe...

Tanha.. Akele...

Kyo?? Kyo gae tm...

As she wrote out her heart on the paper, she failed to realize the drop of tear that fell out while writing as her heart cried with happiness of finally being able to pour out the hidden emotions. While she stared at it, she realized how madly she was in love with him, she knew it all along but it finally sunk in today. Without wasting even another second, she sneaked out of her room towards Maan's room. Finding his door unlocked, she walked into the room slowly and approached the bed where he peacefully slept with a new kind of happiness on his face . Admiring his peaceful form, she placed the letter on his table and walked out of the room after taking one last glance at him. She was confident about his feelings too, given that they were too evident to her after realizing her own feelings for him. With a beautiful hope flourishing her mind, she closed her eyes and slipped into a peaceful and happy sleep after what felt like an eternity.
