i was watching suddh desi romance the other day and i just couldnt get into it...i dunt get wht the big deal abt the film is...its a standard issue romcom thats as standard as it can get...i dunt get the deal abt it reinventing the wheel or anything of that sort...
anywayz...what baffled me further was the amount of praise parineeti got for the role...now she wasnt horrible or anything...but really? some critics claimed it to be path breaking/best performance of the year and i was like WHAAAT?
ive noticed this often happens with parineeti for me...first the trailers seem to look impressive then im all excited, then all the critics put her up on a roof, then i watch the film and im utterly underwhelmed by the performance...all that spontanety looks really contrived and artifical to me with the exact same dialogue delivery in each film...and i think she lacks screen presence and charisma to be honest...
infact, i actually keep liking her co-actors's performances better and it happened with all of her films so far...LVRB (where i actually liked dipanita and aditi sharma better) Ishaqzaade (Where i genuinely liked arjun's performance better than hers) and now SDR (where i felt vaani kapoor was um...fresher and more interesting to watch)...
i cant help but notice how grossly underwhelmed and indifferent i feel abt her with each film of hers and how monotonous shes getting with her roles...anushka keeps getting brickbats for playing the "pathaka" in every film of hers...why dosent the same apply to parineeti?
does anyone else feel shes overrated? share ur thoughts plzz
PS: this aint a bashing thread, i dunt hate parineeti...shes just not "all that" IMO and i feel there are better actors than her in the new gen, contrary to the hype associated with her...
