Ruqaiya the tragic queen

I have been thinking about ruqaiya character. How she as a character is someone they dramatically changed from the start of the serial. I started watching the new ruqaiya only, but recently I caught up with old episodes just to see how the story began.

The actress who played Ruqaiya at the start was definitely weak in her performance, but the character she portrayed was very different. Her character had a regality to her, she was able to command without raising her voice and more distinctly she had a tragic sadness about her. In one scene when Jalal asked the reason they don't have children is because there is no love between them, she turned her face in tears that was so sad, you could tell she loved him but he didn't love her atleast not the way she wanted to and that scene was really sad. That was the last touching scene of ruqaiya.
Then ruqaiya changed and she became cold and calculating. She is shrill when barking orders and didn't have that diginfied composure at excuding her authority. The biggest difference being the writers seem to decide the new ruqaiya doesn't love Jalal as much as the old one did, proof being when he breaks down after Khan baba death she takes off to deal with the Harem. The old ruqaiya would have stood by her man when his heart is breaking.
The change in Ruquaiya seems to be made on purpose to pave way for Jodha. The writers feel the need to justify Jalal loneliness so that he can fall in love with Jodha. Alas why do the writers have to be so simple minded. The old ruqaiya loved her husband and he doted on her, but there was something missing in that relationship for whatever reason it was Jalal who could not reciprocate despite his extreme fondness for her and saying no will take her place. Jalal did give her his zubaabn that she will always be his chief begum, sealed with an affectionate kiss, now for a man who never breaks his word it would have been interesting to see Jalal struggle to keep two woman he loves happy.
The jodha akbar love story would have been so much more interesting and complex if they kept Ruqaiya as tragic queen not a vampish tantrum throwing begum. It was not Ruqaiya did anything wrong that Jalal fell for Jodha, it is just that love cannot be forced.

Not everyone can think like us dear...Not everyone would be able to accept it all..There was such an uproar on this forum when they showed a scene where Jalal was lying on Ruq's bed (the first time- and it was only very decent)...Can you imagine what the rest of the viewers who don't have access to such forums/debates/informations would feel...

I still find this Ruqs a healthy shade of grey...😊

I don't get whey there should be an uproar. On one hand we complain this show is not true to history on the other hand we want to see our own version of the story. We want to cut our cake and eat it two.
The reality of the situation this is not a Ram Sita love story. AKbar's chief begum was Ruqaiya and he went on to marry many women after Jodha. He didn't take any Ram's pratigya after finding out that he loved Jodha. Even if we are to believe there was profound love between them, it doesn't discout his affections for Ruqaiya nor does it devalue his commitments to his empire. He didn't become Akbar the great by placing his wives ahead of his ambitions.
I am not sure how the show will deal with the reality of Akbar's life. Are we going to see Jalal get cold feet before any nuptial so as not to upset his Jodha Begum.

To tell u the truth. I find Ruqqaiya really elegant. I like her. I know many would disagree with me. But still. She is suppose to be like this as she is Jalal's first wife. Jalal have her so much importance that she started feeling herself as the ultimate. But I hate her when she interferes between AkDha.

Now I think she would turn into a Villian. N she will make me hate her

If Balaji was to telecast a healthy balance of what Akbar did and didn't most would tune out...history is quite cruel like that
Whatever Ekta is doing JA serial for or not, she's primarily doing it for money and that only comes with TRPs...With TRP audience there's only so much you can play around with...
Therefore by keeping Ruqs grey enough Ekta's brought about the perfect concoction in the form of drama! I still find her quite likable and except for that walking-away-from-shehenshah scene which was in bad taste, I didn't find anything else from her end really dismal...

When the basis of the entire story itself is fictional, I don't see why they should be even truer than this..I for one, am quite surprised by how true to history they've actually shown it all...look at JA movie for instance...😕 it was like an another king and queen's story altogether!

whatever else she is potrayed as in the show...but when it comes to jalal...the concern and sense of responsibility that she has towards him..👏👏
I greatly admire her for that! I feel she DESERVED the mallika-e-khaas title!
nd I m sure she wasn't soo vampish in real life 😛
