You're right but people have their own way of dressing up. She's from a small village and I don't think that to adjust there she should change her clothing... Everyone has their own style. For me it's not following someone else's but creating your own.

May be it's just me but I am of the belief that people should dress keeping the place and time in mind. One would look out of place in the swimming pool wearing an Indian attire and same way DN looks out of place wearing same kind of dress everywhere. Kshitij can have someone to help her with her work attire. Changing her style of clothing won't change her strong values and opinion.
For me, it's not about what others wear or what's the fashion, it's all about what I feel more comfortable in. Remember, this has been her attire for more than a couple decades. She can't change it like that.
Also, I am sure she'll feel awkward wearing all that she has never worn before. She has to be confident and what she wears. It'll really look bad if she wears anything following the fashion and be apprehensive and lose her confidence.
You're right, it'll look strange to go in a swimming pool wearing Indian clothes but you don't have to go there if you can't wear western clothes, right? But here she has to take on this responsibility. She has no choice but she has choice of clinging to her habits and style.
