I totally agree. I mean, I think it was probably her idea to marry off Alak to save her stupid son's name. Otherwise he would be rotting for his previous mistakes! And yes, after knowing Kumud swallowed alcohol, took beating after beating, and now survived a murder attempt she's shocked that she wants a divorce. š¤£ You know why? Because she is in a supportive marriage herself and can't even conceive of what it's like to share a room with a monster like her son. And because she was able to talk Kumud into doing fasts and covering up for her son's prior misbehavior so she can't see that he's pushed the poor girl to her threshold. I mean seriously, the girl came from a loving family and a strong set of ethics and she underestimated Kumud's character from the beginning. Even if Pramad got drunk in front of Sid, I bet she would still make excuses for him.
What really ticks me off is the way she told off Kumud in front of her friends for not keeping the last fast, as if she was such a great human being. Kumud's not being able to reform him has nothing to do with her, it's the fact that this idiot learned his values in childhood and they weren't remotely good. He abuses alcohol, abuses women, and acts like a spoiled brat. Sid has better manners than him. He's such a complete mama's boy, jokes aside.
They should never have forced him into that marriage and put the burden of reformation on Kumud's shoulders. But then again, this is Indian television and anything goes. š
She is not only blind to her son's faults, she's blind to Kumud's strengths and even to her own daughter's! Honestly, if Heaven forbid Kumud had gotten hurt in that fire or even perished she would have thanked God that her son has survived.
