Emotions are strange indeed. Even if you hate someone, will you let 'em die in front of your eyes? You're forgetting the main thing here. Even if he hates the family, he loves his siblings. How can he let his sister die especially when he knows all this mess is created by themselves (Ayaan and Zoya)? This might not be the best solution, but given the circumstances it's understandable.
