~ll Make you feel my love ll~
Right under my feet
There's air
Made of bricks..
Pulls me down
Turns me weak
For you..
I find myself
Repeating like
A broken tune..
And I'm forever
Excusing
Your intentions
And I give in
To my pretendings..
Which forgive you
Each time
Without me knowing..
They melt my heart
To stone
He stood with his back to her. She wanted to reach out and smooth out the tensed muscles beneath his crisp shirt but the resistance emanating from him held her still..
Their slow, evened breaths hung in the air and Sakshi was slowly getting restless. She had never hated the silence so much before. Maybe she had, when everything around her had crumbled into pieces.
Her father's death had left her shattered and incomplete. But, he had always been there. Never once leaving her side and holding her hand through all of it, being her silent pillar of strength. He was always there for her.
And then, one day he too left. Left her, left the ETF and everything that made his life worth living.
"Why are you here, Sakshi?", he whispered not turning to look at her.
The bitterness in his voice made her want to flinch but she stood still, her face masking the turmoil in her heart. Only he could do that.. ACP Arjun Rawte changes for none.
"I don't know." Her heart hitched a beat at her own words.
And I hear your words
That I made up
You say my name
Like there could be an us
I best tidy up my head
I'm the only one in love
I'm the only one in love..
He turned at that. The room was pitching dark except for a few rays of light from the setting sun.
She saw his brooding eyes flicker to find her and sighed.
She had missed him.
His eyes often betrayed him. Cold, one moment and warm the next, this was the man she had lost her heart to.
"I have nothing to say and don't expect me to answer you. Because I cannot.", he said softly and turned his back on her.
She fought the tears spilling out from her eyes and stepped towards him, one step at a time.
She needed to feel him, to know that he was finally here.
Arjun felt her reach out to him and her warm hand clasped around his cold wrist.
"You never had anything to say, Arjun. And you've never answered me before either. I gave up on that, long back.", she hummed against his back.
He closed his eyes for a brief moment. He had failed her. He had failed her faith in him. And he had failed to understand the woman he had come to love.
"I thought that letting you go would give you your fairytale. I thought that loving someone else would hurt you less. I.."
His admission felt like a sharp jab in her stomach.
Her fingers loosened their grip on his wrist and she stumbled backwards. Her whole world was crashing around her once again.
She wanted to punch him, fight with him and scream aloud only to wake up and realise that it was all a nightmare.
"Look me in the eye and say that. Tell me that you thought that was the solution to everything."
He looked at her through the corner of his eye and slowly turned around.
That was it! The way he looked at her, those deep black eyes desperately trying to scream out his longing and craving for her.
Sakshi mustered all strength she had and shoved at his shoulder angrily.
"You're a coward and you don't get to sound all sacrificing. You were always a weak man, Arjun; incapable of making choices."
She screamed, not realising the impact of her sharp words on him. And honestly, she couldn't care less that moment.
She lunged at his throat and hung on to the collars of his faded white shirt,
"You left, without a word.. Why?
So, you could convince yourself that you did not deserve to live? That we weren't meant to be?"
Tears rolled out of her red eyes and her voice slowly trailed away.
She gave him a fierce look.
"Did you even think for a moment, before walking out me? You left me a day before we were to get married. How could you be so heartless?", She cried out.
He lowered his eyes when the guilt began creeping up. But hadn't he prepared himself for all of it already?
She growled angrily when his shoulders slumped in defeat and tugged at his collar,
"I loved you. I trusted you. I thought you would never leave me alone. Lekin tum bhi chale gaye.."
Sakshi pushed him away and stepped backwards, "I hate you, Arjun. I hate you because you made me hate myself.."
She gritted her teeth and ran her fingers through her hair, venting out her frustration and stormed out of his house.
He had done it all over again.. He broke her heart..
Why do you
Steal my hand
Whenever
I'm standing
My own ground
You build me up
Then leave me dead..
