Meaning: We are neither good, nor are we bad in the long run. We are grey. We are twilight. 👏 And this show brings out that grey shade in the characters!

Ruqqu : First things first. History , no matter how much Ekta dramatizes it or Ashutosh edits it, does not speak of Ruqqaiya as a vamp or a monster. She was simply Jalaal's best friend , his political advisor and his confidante since the age of 8. Yes, this show portrays her as Mallika-E-Idiot who doesn't seem to have any real affection for Jalaal or any understanding of the wisdom that a woman of her stature needs. Today, however, we are reminded that Ruqqaiya is grey. She is calculative, bitchy, political, drunk in power and her control over Jalaal - but as they say it, even satan often dreams of heaven as he sits in the sulphurous flames of hell in the belly of earth. Ruqqu has a soft side too - the unfulfilled maternal side that craves for a child , of giving a baby in Jalaal's arms. Ruqqaiya is many things and not lovable at all - but in her own right, she is vulnerable.

Cant deny that in the last two episodes Ruq has been portrayed brilliantly...Why couldnt the makers show her like this rather than showing her laughing loud and distributing jwellery to the other begums mocking them...the insecurity scene with the sword and then yesterdays emotional scene...how real did Ruq look in these. Wish Ekta maintains this...but i doubt..! Sumwhere she too doesnt LOVE Jalal...Theirs is a marriage cum friendship relation and nothign beyond that...Ruq has been so used to Jalal ...he is more of a habit now and any change in that is gonna upset her bad..!

Jodha : Jodha is pre-conditioned to hate Jalaal. She uses her signature arrogance and blood pride to snub him , to insult him , to do things that keep him at an arm's distance. She makes compartments in this marriage where she stands by Jalaal as his wife , honours his words and her commitments to him, but strictly draws lines that take away Jalaal's right to love her , to touch her, to embrace her. Yes, she is a hypocrite because she honours everything that is ritualistic and cosmetic in this marriage but deep down refuses to embrace Jalaal no matter how much he makes her heart flutter. Today, she tries to hate Jalaal again by flying off the handle at Saleema but has no words when Saleema defends Jalaal and you see a long pensive look on Jodha's face as she hears about Jalaal's wait for a baby, his heir. Jodha is grey because she compartmentalizes her wedding , thoughts and feelings about Jalaal to suit her dignity and pride. Yet, she has no qualms in walking straight into Jalaal's chambers and lecturing him on his duties as a son. Why? Isn't Jalaal supposed to be a Jallaad , Jodha? Or are you kinda confused in your own mathematics on him. What have you been thinking ever since Jalaal's craving and wait for the future Saleem/Jehangir was mentioned? Tell, tell, tell.

LOL...exactly...at one side she is ready to take his hands for support..nd on the other she is frustrated if he holds her dupatta...She hates it when he does anything for her...and is all set to go and lecture him on his mother..Very typical womanish characteristic..But i did crack up when she says..agar aap samjahdaar hai toh baar kyun samjhana padta hai...Well i guess at that time she was more concerned of Hamida and her haterd took a slight back seat...and sumwhere she knows Jalal isnt that attached too his mom..hence may not ponder much on it..So she had to take the lead..Had discussed this a while back ...Hamida and Jalal(coz he will get to know Mahamangas real face later) needs to get closer maybe later and Jodha has to be the link...probably this is just tht minutest step towards that...

Jalaal: Cruel. Manipulative. Sly. Bestowed with dark intelligence. No person in their right mind can love Jalaal except Hameeda and Maaham. Especially, when you look back at the 50 episodes and see how smoothly he got Amer and states under his grasp and Jodha into his Harem as his honourably wedded wife. Why should you even try and see his good side? Why should you even think that someone can love somebody like him minus the crown? Then, you see his tear-filled affection for Raheem - so much so that the Mughal Sultan of Hindustan goes on his knees to become a horse for him. You see Jalaal's undying love and loyalty to Bairam long after he is gone. You see Jalaal declare honestly that he wants to give everything to Raheem that he can. Then, you see Jalaal bow to the Peer with Jodha and look innocently shocked when the Peer says that Jodha-Jalaal will be immortalized in history forever. You see a man of God as he reads his Namaaz with all the honesty and integrity that is left inside him. You see the pull of the umbilical cord when Jalaal is furious at Hameeda for making a commitment to God that could hamper her health ( inspite of never showing love for her the way he does for Maham). Maybe you could fall in love with him? As long as you can gulp down the instant manipulation he does with Jodha by making her swear on his life that she is going to pretend a pregnancy for him. What made Jalaal so confident that Jodha wouldn't back out on his swear? Isn't he supposed to hate Jodha and not know her at all?

you cannot love Jalal...in first sight ...but as u get to know him...he is a great guy...who cares for the people close to him..nd doesnt bother for the rest..he is emotionally attached only to his close ones...and all this is not sumthing anyone will know if they dont get close to him...or try to be with him..!

Regarding why he was confident on Jodha...i dont think he was...thats the reason he asked for the swear which he knows Jodha cant back out...bcoz of the superstitious beliefs..loll..and to add to it..he even said that its kind of payback time..he lied for her parents..she has to for his mom...though both the lies have poles apart depth and where one lie had bought happiness for Jodhas parents..the other definitely wont do the same for Jalals mom...hope sumone points this out!

Saleema: A character I have really come to like. She is Jalaal's wife but she has no love , affection or feelings for Jalaal. If you notice, she mentions Jalaal only as her son Raheem's GUARDIAN. She has married Jalaal because of the norms that were vocal in the 15th century - its a clinical relationship but it has respect. Saleema has loved only one man in her life - Bairam and till date , its only Bairam. She has no emotional loyalty or pull towards her current husband - she gave in to the tradition and norms for Raheem's sake and her own security. She has regard for Jalaal but her heart lies with her Bairam Khan. I think it was a beautiful scene where Jodha witnessed Saleema recalling Bairam so fondly. Re-instating the fact - Insaan ka jism fanaa ho bhi jaaye, jo use chaahte hain, wo apni rooh ka aks unke saath chhod hi jaata hai.

She is another elegant lady...she has her own little world and his content in it...She has her bful set of memories and has connected with a lot who she knows understand her...! Her and Jodhas bonding is lovely...finally there is sumone who can shut all taunts of Jodha with Jalals prasies..loll

Conclusion:

We are 21st century people, and maybe we cannot relate to this labyrinth of complicated relationships of the 15th century - but i like how Ekta is not hoodwinking anything like Ashutosh did - she is trying to be as close to the 15th century as possible. Kings, queen wives , soulmates, best friends, slaves, back stabs, throne hunger , bloodshed, crowns, swords , heirs, heiresses and all that jazz... yes, even with her signature Kekta touch of kitchen politics.

Also, the ones who understand the nuances , definitions and depth of relationships will always know that Jalaal knew in the long run where Jodha and Ruqqu stood. Ruqqu was his best friend and guide while Jodha was his soulmate and his light. Complicated. But not beyond understanding of human realms.

This is so well said yaar...ekta might bring her own funny touches to this...but she is doing a daily show and not a movie...i think its time we stop comparing it to that...I m sure many peopel will be upset if there is no inn lamhon ke daaman type sequence in the show...😆..every character carries a depth in it...and every action of theirs leads to sumwhere...Its definitely sumthing to watch out for!

Precap: Now, you know why its important for two passionate people to keep fighting? Coz it keeps attraction at bay. The moment the swords and shields are dropped, the passion magnet rises like a giant. Jalaal has dropped the sword and the shield , the hate marathon and the war declarations. Jodha , caught in her attraction-repulsion for her husband , now treads a very very dicey path. Very DICEY. 😆
