The Connection Between a Payal and a Kamarbandh

What is it with "Saraswatichandra" and its payalein and kamarbandhs always ending up reoccurring like old characters within this show? 😲

We all know that Saras was attached to Saraswati's payalein--after all, he did carry them all the way back to Ratnanagiri.
And we also know that Kumud's kamarbandh was the first thing that drew him in. But what do they both represent? They both carry the ehsaas of two different women in his life, both of which he holds dear to him. They mean so much more than simply chiming bells and added beauty to the show: they semi-symbolize who Saras is as a character. Ehsaas means so much to him, and the way they symbolize the most important ehsaas-es of his life show just how important they are to the rest of the storyline...

But that payal--which now adorns Kumuds feet, and that kamarbandh--which is in Kusum's possession surely must be playing a key role in the future.

In fact, I'm starting to look at them as game pieces: the way these two chiming possessions ever-change ownership is amusing. Because on one hand, we can take their constant shifting of ownership in a negative light, and assume that the novel's ending will be the show's fate. Or, we can look at them as unpredictable clues to the future... A new light on the inner dimensions of the character of Saras: directly how he feels, and what he thinks.

It'll be interesting to see what else these payalein and this kamarbandh have in store for Saras... ultimately, they are alongside him wherever he goes, and I think they might have a larger meaning to them as the plot progresses (hopefully, it progresses to please more than the average TRP Aunty) 😆

Feel free to add your musings 😳 😃

Great post Veera..its the ehsaas of the two women he loves the most, that he associates with these otherwise mundane piece of ornaments and no matter who adorns/claims them, that ehsaas for him will never change.. Gumaan wore his mother's payal but she could never replace his mother in his life..likewise today Kusum claimed the kamarbandh but she can never take Kumud's place in his life..

It's midway crash and noise coming is a tuneless cacophony. Mindless mix and match. Chucking the bandwagon...there used to be music.

Smrth, this is just a TV show, after all!
They have their off-screen troubles, their on-screen off-days, and then sometimes they show something we can enjoy,... We suffer the bad days in the hope of getting the better ones, because when they are good, they have been quite good...😊

re: payal and kamarbandh I think they are meant to give us weary viewers hope of a Saras-Kumud ending!

The payal because it was the only ornament she was still wearing after the alleged highway-robbery scene, when even her mangalsutra was removed/broken ... (credit-Ivy)

The kamarbandh because it seems to be a marker for the PMS the CV's are not forgetting (credit-Hgg)

It's also significant that Kusum who claimed ownership of the kamarbandh is the one who has tried it on earlier and knows that for Saras, she cannot ever be a substitute Kumud (even if she wants to).

Have to confess its good that Cv's let each of us interpret these "markers" to suit their own hopes/expectations... Quite a long rope they hand us...😉

nice observation veera👍🏼

kamarband with kusum is no big thing ...may be she will give back to kumud and payal too can be exchanged easily if worst has to come

what is more important to me is the significance of colour and white chunni till now which can come in effect after pramad goes to hell ...and how saras colours it for her

rest well ...veera ...i am fed with these cvs...they can use anything anytime without logic...and if they want to feed us soemething we dont like ...they will find way to it as well

my only hope lies on promos they gave regarding completion of the adhoori story ...rest i dont give much heed now

Wow loved ur explanation!😃
U explained Saras ehsaases in a very distinctive yet impactful way!
Yea u r rite that this kamarband n Payal wld play pivotal role in Saras' life.
I think that eventually this kamarband wld go back to kumud n then all his ehsaas wld again be connected to kumud only. Cz kusum herself admitted that this kamarband belongs to kumud.

Thank you, Vaishali 😳

Exactly! 😃 This is why I love this deep association of the payals and the kamarbandh with Saras.. there is SOO much in the show that comes along with it. they're such a broad motif that scatters throughout so many time eras and places in the show, that I really do feel like they're essential to the rest of the plot. Surely, I'm going to keep an eye on where they go next... they might help us out with emotionally preparing for what's to come 😆

Smrth bhai! 😳

Ah, those musical moments... kya yaad dilaadiya aapne. How long ago did we hear this blissful chiming... it feels like eternity.

Certainly the King of Sadism, Mr. SLB has a way of making even the grief magical... Right now, I agree with you, the sadness has been butchered to provide for the much-in-demand TRP Aunty... but I have high hopes they'll still save the show... Because what we really want now is slow magical chiming within these loud thuds of misery.

But if motifs like this and the colour red and the chaand and Radha-Krishna Ji continually occur, I would accept the minimal beauty with grace 😊 (and still pray to the CV Gods for magical moments of course!)

Oh wow! Happychappy ji, I missed out on quite a few valuable musings on CB while I was working on the Gautie Pie birthday thread and procrastinating about "playing catch up with Saraswatichandra" 😳 these are really valid observations, and really do soothe the pining, sick-of-sadism heart 😃

Indeed, I am very glad that Kusum knows her place already. 😊

I know! I am so glad that these two valuable symbols are here for us to interpret. Although the Kamarbandh track of current really ticks me off because it's so poorly written, I have to say, just the fact that it's here as a "marker" like the payalein makes me delighted... More mapping and planning for me 😆
