Khushi spent the next morning washing the porch, and when she entered the house, she heard Avni calling her name. She followed her voice and ended up in Arnav's bedroom's doorframe where she abruptly stopped in her tracks when she saw him lying down on his bed with his eyes shut.
"Khushi, come," Avni said while she sat on the floor and went through all the packages in Arnav's suitcase. "It's alright," Khushi said quietly and then heard him speak up without opening his eyes. "I'm awake. You don't need to be so shy."
Well that comment just made her even more uncomfortable. She hesitantly walked a few steps then sat next to Avni who put a clear plastic package on her lap. "This is for you," she said with a smile.
Khushi didn't open it but she did catch the color of the salwar suit. It was dark green - a colour she admired ever since her first day in Amit Sravna.
"Thanks," she said towards him and he nodded his head in response. Khushi took a silent deep breath. She wished she could just leave the room - it was her first time there too.
"I think these are for you," Avni said to Khushi as she was about to pass her a set of green and gold bangles but they didn't notice that Arnav's eyes were open and watching them. "That's not for her," he said and Khushi's cheeks burned with embarrassment. She didn't want anything! She just wanted to leave.
Avni stared silently at Arnav for a moment and waited for him to sit up. "Who are these for then?" She asked.
"The bangles are for Akash's wife," he said and Avni bit on her finger. "Have you no shame? Buying gifts for other people's wives?" She asked and Arnav rolled his eyes as he lurched forward to grab them from her hand. "Akash gave me the money for them! My God, the things you say sometimes."
"But...what else did you get for Khushi?" Avni asked and looked worried - almost sad that he didn't get her anything else. Arnav lowered his eyes before he locked his with Khushi. "I didn't know what to get," he tried to explain himself but he stopped when Khushi shook her head. "This is more than enough. Thank you, really," she added a smile and quickly left the room before she could be the focus of attention.
"What's the matter with you, Arnav? Just one pair of clothes?" Avni chided him and unpacked the rest of the things with furrowed eyebrows. Arnav didn't know if he should be happy that she loved Khushi so much, or offended that she possibly loved her more than him.

Where his return sent everything back to normal for Khushi, all the time she would otherwise spend thinking of him was now spent in how bored she was in general. She wanted to roam the village freely and she knew it would take a lot of begging for Arnav to allow her.
She waited for the moment to catch him alone and the only time was when he was leaving his house. She ran after him before he reached the gate. He automatically looked back when he heard her footsteps behind him. "Yeah?" He asked.
"Can you stay home all day every day?" She asked and he raised his brows at her. "I have duties to fulfill so no, I cannot."
"But you'd get bored, wouldn't you?" She pushed and he kept his gaze steady on her face.
"What do you want?" He asked, not wanting her to play around the bush anymore.
"I want freedom around this village."
He didn't take a moment to reply, "No."
"Please! You don't know what it's like to stay home all day. I'm not asking for much - I just want to be able to walk around, and maybe make some friends," she said with a frown. Why was he being so complicated? Right, he was Arnav Singh Raizada.
He felt bad. She was human after all, so it wasn't like he could keep her away from the public eye forever. He also knew he wouldn't be available to take her every time so he huffed a sigh as he made his decision. "Fine." He saw the excitement shine in her eyes as she grinned widely. She took a couple steps back with the grin still on her face before she turned around and skipped the rest of the way back inside the house.

Khushi felt odd walking the place on her own but she certainly felt good. The people closer to Arnav's house were getting used to her so they wouldn't stare much, but as she got closer to the market all eyes turned to her. But she kept her head down for most of the walk until she reached the first shop of her long shopping expedition. She respected the money Arnav gave her so she didn't want to spend it uselessly. As much as some salwar suits or saris blew her mind away, she wouldn't let her wants take over her needs.
She went into another shop and was looking at the sari options on the large tables when she began to overhear the conversation between the two girls standing at one spot. She kept her eyes down but her ears were intently listening.
"No one in this place even looks him in the eye because they're too scared and you're actually considering marriage? What if he ends up being an abusive husband?" One of them asked.
"Don't be stupid! He's an honourable man," the other defended. Khushi lifted her eyes just once and saw the one who was so defensive was a very pretty girl. She had a sick feeling they were talking about someone she knew all too well but she wasn't sure.
"Your father says that just to lure you in this. Has he ever even spoken to you?"
"No...but he does look at me whenever we're around each other. What if he likes me?" She asked all too excitedly.
"You're so stupid," the friend muttered and Khushi agreed. "The guy might be good looking but you're the first one to claim that Arnav likes them," the friend said in an almost hostile tone and the other girl shushed her. Khushi on the other hand was not taking in this new information well at all. She only knew of one Arnav and the descriptions fit him pretty well too. While she continued to look at saris, her insides were screaming. What was this whole talk about marriage? Was he getting married? Was he planning to do something big again without telling her?
She left the store with a broken heart and went to a gol gappe stand in an attempt to calm her down. She asked for a plate of ten - yes, that's how many she'd need to fix her broken heart. While she waited her eyes fell on two guys who were sitting behind the stand, shamelessly smirking at her. Her stomach lurched.
She wanted the man to hurry with her food but he was taking his sweet time anyway. The guys got up and stood a couple feet away from her. "You're new here aren't you?"
"Yes."
"What's your name?" The other asked and she looked away to show she wasn't going to answer. "Has that bas***d Arnav told you to keep quiet?" He spat and she whipped her head to stare at him incredulously. How dare they disrespect Arnav like that? "I don't speak to perverts like you!" She retorted and they rumbled with laughter.
"Does he use you for his own pleasure? Is that why you're allowed to stay here?" One asked menacingly and she felt so disgusted that tears came to her eyes. She threw some money towards the man who was creating her order and walked away empty handed.
She felt so violated by the men's words and her heart ached for not respecting Arnav's wishes from the beginning. He clearly knew what he was ordering and although she got what she wanted by getting freedom, she regretted it greatly. Because in one single outing, she got double the heartbreaks. And in that moment, she just wanted to look into the eyes of her shield and tell him that he was right. But the words of the girls came to her mind again and made her doubt everything. She suddenly felt like an outsider again.
She got home and spent a couple hours in her room just thinking, so much so that she ended up falling asleep. She felt a hand brushing her hand and she opened her eyes to find Avni. "It's well past lunch time - won't you eat?" The sweet lady asked in a calm voice. Khushi sat up and nodded her head.
"Are you alright?" Avni asked in a concerned tone but Khushi quickly put up her smile to ease her worries. "I was just tired after my trip to the marketplace. I'll come now."
Arnav came home at five in the evening and she gave him a simple hi. She wanted to tell him what the guys said because yes, she wanted a reaction from him. She wanted to know exactly how he'd react if she told him something like that. But at the same time she didn't because this man she was undeniably slowly falling for was supposedly reserved for someone else.
She went to the backyard to take down the now-dry clothes off the line. Arnav quickly showed up next to her and held on to the line just for fun before she swatted his hand away. "Did you have fun at the market?" He asked to get a conversation going. He pulled down a few sheets and passed them to her as she folded them.
"It was alright. Not as exciting as I thought it would be," she said expressionless and tried to ignore his curious gaze on her. "What's the matter?" He asked because he felt something wasn't right.
"I met your future wife in the marketplace," she said through tight lips and he scrunched his eyebrows in extreme confusion. "What are you talking about?"
"Yeah, there were two girls talking about you. One was really excited about your future wedding with her - the one you never bothered to tell me about." He grabbed her wrist to stop her from fuming with the clothes.
"How can I tell you about something that I don't even know about? Who were these girls?" He asked with a hard expression. Khushi shrugged her shoulders because she really didn't know. "Whoever it is, let me see their nerve to say that in my face. I choose who I marry - not who others think I should marry, okay?" He said and she pulled her wrist away, mumbling 'okay.'
He grabbed her wrist again and she scowled at him. "Let go!"
His lips curled in a smirk as one of his hands dug in his jeans pocket and he took it out with a silver thing dangling from the sides. "What's this?" She asked him.
He pulled her wrist forward, motioning her to keep it up. Her eyes widened and her heart went ballistic as he held the two sides of the silver bracelet and wrapped it around her wrist, clasping it together. "Wha..." She said breathlessly as she looked closely at the engraved designs in it.
"Are you giving this to me because you feel bad?" She asked because to think otherwise would send her to her fantasyland. She looked up at him and saw him silently looking down at her. "If I ever feel bad about something, I'm not going to buy someone materialistic things - I use my words. I bought this because I wanted to."
"For me specifically?" She asked because she couldn't believe what he was saying.
"No, for Adi," he said and smiled at her blushing cheeks. She let her arm drop and let out a little chuckle at his answer. "Well, thank you very much."
"You need to stop thanking me," he said in a quiet voice and both drifted into their own bubble of togetherness but it was broken when Adi came from the corner of the house. "Abba," he called and Arnav looked at a tense Adi. "Vijay bhaiyya is calling for you."

Ok peeps. Nothing to say. haha. jk, I just got in a heated argument with my sister so she kinda ruined my train of thought. Hope you guys like this. Arnav is not a romantic boy and neither is he a lovey dovey boy so he's not going to give her the bracelet under the moonlight or anything. lol. He just does it when he thinks is right and he did it when she had doubts about him.
Btw, here's the bracelet! >> Here Totally love it!
Hope you like this part and next part will include an intense moment between Arnav and Vijay. Like..really. haha. Bye everyone!
