🤗 Yes, yes, yes! RICHARD ARMITAGE was the only one who kinda dethroned Colin Firth for me. I can't ever forget North and South. It's like...there...with Sherlock!
My two best shows ever.

I've watched Jane Eyre too. And yes, Fassbender was good...but you know Armitage's eyes. Nothing tops him, IMO. (Except maybe Cumberbatch)

I agree. I love Richard. I was beyond thrilled when they approached him for The Hobbit. He's so under-rated but damn so fine. Richard's eyes are devilish good. 😆 Fassbender is just so refined and humble. Cumberbatch was born to make us melt. I enjoy Sherlock with much too. Are you into The Paradise? It's another BBC periodic series. The main guy in it isn't in the same league as these 3 but the accent and something about the way British actors are trained is just worth the watch. I swear, British theatre and drama actors are serious in a league of their own. I guess any credible HW has for brilliant films should go to the Brits and their acting academies.

ive watch every version there is...every single one made me wanna pull my hair out. i dnt think anyones been able to capture the true essence of the novel. they all seem so rushed. its amazing that Austen was able to invoke so many emotions in such a short book when authors today write twice as much and rarely leave an impact.
In most of the movies, Elizabeth comes across as a snob. And mostly, its Mr Darcys character 😳...no actor can measure up to him EXCEPT Colin Firth!!!!!!! he was delicious in the Pride and Prejudice series.

Agree. Austen Heroines are tricky to play b/c they are flawed, massively. In the books, the character goes through so many personal obstacles and there's a nice development, which films/actresses sometimes fail to capture. I thought Jennifer Ehle was the best Lizzy from all the versions I saw. However, that version is the only one that's let the character play out like the novel does b/c it's such a long series.

Look at Aisha, when played wrong Emma comes off with a lack of audience empathy. However the readers know that she's a product of a hypodronaic father and her limitations on knowledge and experience cause her to act in such a selfish manner, even though her motives to her are selfless. Basically, she is redeemable. Just like Romola Garai in the newest Emma.

I think Aishu did a decent job with what she was given, but it wasn't the best version ever.

Devdas for me. i thought her acting was really good. In HDDCS her acting is cringe worthy. i squirm in my seat whenever i see it. But what makes it work regardless is the script and perhaps my affinity for "broody" looking guys ( even if they come in the form of a devgn 😆)
