😉😆 So, when I look back at Aish's career, she had some milestones. Everyone knows her for Devdas, HDDCS, Taal, Jodhaa Akbar, Raincoat, Chokher Bali, and her sexy role in Dhoom 2. But, noone talks about Bride and Prejudice that much. In the interview I just posted, she says it was a milestone in cinema. But, when I watched the movie, it was strictly okay. I am glad it was a success internationally. But, Gurinder Chadha never had a hit film after that. Why is that? 😲 I remember the film was panned in India because critics were hard on Aish for doing an English film. Aish is the only actress that has had a hit film in English. So, I will always hold that film special for this very reason. What was so SPECIAL about BRIDE and PREJUDICE?! Please share your thoughts.

Nothing really special.

Just that whole big talk about Bollywood entering Hollywood. The lead actor wasn't even known in Hollywood then. He was some actor from NZ programme called Shorthand Street

Yes, but Aish participated and benefitted from it a little bit. I am glad she did something different whereas we see other actresses do the same rhona/dhona for most of their career. 😛

Nothing at all.

Martin Henderson as Darcy was a total misfit.

Bring on as many versions as you can, Colin Firth will always remain Darcy!

Coming to the movie, it was silly. Really. You read the book and try watching the movie, you'll wanna throw something at them. It's plain bad.

There were parts of that movie that I found funny. But overall, I didn't enjoy it as much. Aishwarya always brings in that weird accent. Even if it's not fake, there's something weird about it. But she's so gorgeous that it doesn't even matter. They could have casted some better known opposite her and that could have helped.

Anupam Kher is always the best in these Indian-American/British movies. Bend it Like Beckham was so much better.

I agree. The 1995 version is the best in my opinion. I remember watching the confession scene in the KK version, where both of them are in the rain and I felt like she lacked the real angry that Jennifer Elhe had in her eyes and Matthew wasn't as amazing as Colin. There's something about Colin that's just so perfect and smooth (weird adjective, I know, but he's so sauve).

I feel like Richard Armitage needs to play Darcy or Michael Fassbender if they do another version (not like we need anymore), but these 2 men are so under-rated in their periodic pieces. Armitaged in North and South and Fassbender in Jane Erye were excellent.

As for MH and ARB, they both look good but they didn't have the soul to play the real Austean characters. However, I do find BP a better Austen adaptation than Aisha will ever be. Sonam played Emma compltely and utterly wrong, but Aishu still made me feel empathy for the character and her situations.

I thought Aishu played a better Austean heroine in the Tamil version of Sense and Sensibility. I think she would be perfect for Anne Elliot too, if anyone were ever to do a desi verson of Persuasion.

🤗 Yes, yes, yes! RICHARD ARMITAGE was the only one who kinda dethroned Colin Firth for me. I can't ever forget North and South. It's like...there...with Sherlock!
My two best shows ever.

I've watched Jane Eyre too. And yes, Fassbender was good...but you know Armitage's eyes. Nothing tops him, IMO. (Except maybe Cumberbatch)

wait...r u telling me Bride and Prejudice (the name alone is laugh worthy) wasnt the same rona dhona?

the only thing different abt B&P was that it was in english with a lead actor struggling to figure out which accent to adapt
