Chapter 91:-
The alarm was buzzing and buzzing. She woke up with a start and tried to think straight. Her head ached from lack of sleep and continuous stress that she had endured since her marriage. She did not want to think about anything as of now. She took the maximum dosage of Ibuprofen and got ready for the day. A day that will surely mark her liberty, if not from life, then from the chains of turbulent past. She had a plan in her mind and she knew that she would use this entire game in her favor. She had found a weeklink in the entire trap. She came down to the loby for breakfast. She needed to fill her self up, it was going to be a gruelling day and she needed all the energy that she could, so she was just banking bank up. She did not forget her meds either, she needed and wanted to be through this alive atleast not caving in because of her health. It was a bright, and hot day out side. Just early February and so dry and hot it was. She got a call from Andrew that he was waiting for her at the reception. She said she will join him shortly. She had seen an air of authority in his stance yesterday. Authority she would have taken lying low, but she also saw a remarkable sense of racial supremacy emanating from him and that Madhu would shove it right back in his pocket. She took her own sweet time to finish her breakfast and a cup of extra bitter black coffee. She finally went to the reception to find him sitting in the loby with a pretty strained face. He looked at his wrist watched as in to indicate to her the delay.
"What time is it Andrew?" she asked in a tone that had all the world's indifference in it.
"Nine hours" he said in a slightly lower tone.
"Then we are right on time, 9 hrs was what you said to me yesterday. This place has just about passable breakfast." She said again with an acquired air of haughtiness to irk him. "even I am allowed some fun" she reasoned with herself.
Andrew did not see this coming indeed LA Quinta was just a passable lodging if one was to compare it with luxuries that Vegas had to offer. He had worked with two other Indians before on two different occasions. They had been far more than extremely happy with that shit of a place "extended stay." Since he was given instructions from Indian consulate specifically for better living arrangements so he had opted for this. "What was she expecting a grand reception at "Bellagio" with all there fountains on. HUH" he shook his head and said that word out loud.
"You said something?" she asked this time looking straight into his eyes with as much contempt as she could gather. This kind of an attitude from someone from a third world country was some thing very new to Andrew. Would he be tamed that easily, not even in anyone's wildest dreams.
"I think we should leave for Ceaser's Palace now." He said to her.
"no actually not. I have an emergency meeting with the Counsel General of India, at 11:30."
"This is not a seat of Counsel General of India." He was shocked now.
"He arrived here at 5 hrs in the morning."
"Why I was not informed about this." He asked rather demanded.
"I don't have a responsibility to inform you about anything. You need to confirm it from your own department." Her tone must have given him the icy feel of the Himalayan heights. They were already out in the parking lot. He indicated towards his car.
"I have my own and you are free to join me but not under any compulsion." She said, with a crooked smile.
"You are not supposed to drive here. You don't have a liscence" he said looking clearly cross.
"I don't need to drive. I am always accorded a driver by my government." Her black Mercedes was there in a few seconds, He was now beyond frustrated.
"Are you coming with me?" she asked. "We will be late I have to check in into "The Venetian."
"Are you not staying here." he asked looking stoned out.
"NO,it does not suits my taste." She got into her car when Andrew gestured that he will come in his.
"Abhi to ibtadaye ishq hai rota hai kya, Aage Aage dekhiye hota hai kya." Madhu said to herself, more for herself rather than any one else.
