Hi Folks,

The idea behind this thread is to expose non dancing junta to some amazing dance forms..

Whatever new forms are tried on JDJ, we would try to upload videos here at the same time along with some of the most amazing dance videos from somewhere in the world of the same form ..

The rationale is to present the audience here to nitty gritty of those forms..

JUST ENJOY THE DANCE...

This thread ain't about the stars or the fan groups.. but a choootu sa step towards making people more aware of dance and hopefully control biases.. 😆

DANCEFORM

Origin: Dominican Republic in the Caribbean islands
Music and beats: Four beats per measure. Dancer takes 3 steps to 4 beats of music. Knees are flexed on the steps. Steps are flat footed.
Influences: Cuban Bolero, the Merengue (also of Dominican Republic origin), Salsa and Cumbia
Music and beats: Four beats per measure. Dancer takes 3 steps to 4 beats of music. Knees are flexed on the steps. Steps are flat footed. Instrument is guitar primarily.
Moves and Steps: Basic: 3 steps in one direction and repeat in another. Identified with strong hip movements. Blank beats may be filled with a tap. Most of the dance is from bottom half of the body. May be a closed ( partners face each other in embrace - salsa/mambo) or open dance. Slow-Medium dance going 120 beats/minute
Types: Embrace: danced solo, in two-hand hold, open embrace and close embrace and Embellishment: free foot on the fourth beat
