It was my first day; I did not want to be late. Sasha has given me a tour to the office, she had given me all the instructions as to what my duties were as an assistant architect and as a secretary. She seemed to be a nice lady, in her late 20's. She was through professional and was all praises for the boss, though she said that his temper was very short and he gets annoyed when he was tired.

I checked the list that Sasha has given.

2005-2006

"Sir, do you drink this bitter black coffee even in the morning"

"No, I drink it only when I am tired"

"Then what do you drink in the morning?"

"In the early morning I take a glass of lemon water before I go for my work out"

"And when you go to the office, you take tea"

"No, with my breakfast I prefer orange juice or any other seasonal fruit juice"

"Ok, and from where do you manage to get it"

"I have a small juicer; I make it on my own"

"And in the office"

"I always like full cream coffee, and that too the way my father use to make"

"But he is no more"

"Yes, but I know how to make it, so at the office I make one for myself. You know I always prefer to take a lot of liquid; it keeps you healthy. According to my father we should take something to drink every hour and if we cannot manage we should drink water"

"Will you teach me how to make that coffee?"

"OK, I will"

"How do you like to start your day?"

"Well, when my father was there, he would always write a quote for me and place in my breast pocket, I would read it and feel motivated, but now I start my work without it"

"You miss him a lot"

"Yes. Now come let me teach you how to impress me with a cup of coffee"

"OK now taste it if it is as per your taste"

"Hey, wait I don't drink it this hot, I drink it after letting it stand for 2-3 mins"

"Ok"

"Um, now let me taste it"

"How is it?"

"Well, it is just'"

"I knew it; I won't be able to make a good cup"

"Stupid girl, it's just perfect"

2012-13

Well I organized the cabin as instructed, arranged white and purple orchids in the vases placed at the corners. Then looked at the time, well I still had 30 mins before the boss arrives. I marked the meetings on his planner and wrote a quote "PROBLEM IS A CHANCE FOR YOU TO DO WELL"

Then I went to the pantry and made a cup of coffee and placed it on his table at sharp 9:30 am and went to my desk.

He entered the cabin and looked around, he seemed impressed, and he then twitched his nose, and looked around. He looked at the cup and then looked at Adi. "hey Adi, this seems like coffee, it smells good. I never knew coffee smells so good"

Adi gave him a confused look

Boss lifted the cup and sipped, "It's just perfect and so soothing" he placed the cup on the coaster and sat on his chair, "Adi, I suppose I would prefer coffee over that tea I am usually served"

Adi just nodded still confused

I felt a pang for the boss, and pledged to make him happy. How that simple cup has brought smile to his face.
