Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan is confident that his attempt at bringing zombie comedy to Bollywood with Go Goa Gone will be appreciated and given a nod of approval.
"India is very schizophrenic when it comes to their choice of movies. They are now open to different genres of films," said Khan at a press conference in Dubai on Wednesday. He was in town along with Kunal Khemu and leading lady Puja Gupta.
"The reason why we haven't made zombie comedies before is because zombie films are a celebration of slackers. While American cinema has celebrated mediocrity, we celebrate heroism and God-like heroes. But in this film, zombies are the ultimate idiots," said Khan. Directed by Raj Nidiomoro and Krishna D K, the film is about two friends Hardik (Khemu) and Luv (Vir Das) who turn into zombies when a rave party in Goa goes berserk. Khan plays a Russian Mafia lord Boris. He's blonde.
"When a director tells you to go blonde, don't do it immediately. I discovered that after they dyed my hair orange and then turned it into the right shade of blonde. The next time around, I'd just wear a wig," said Khan who has produced and acted in hits such as Cocktail and Love Aaj Kal.
Doling out styling tips weren't their only plan on their Dubai press junket agenda. The trio hit Ibn Battuta mall to greet their fans later in the evening. Goa Goa Gone releases in the UAE tomorrow
