I think he is in love.

But he is too scared to label his feelings/emotions as " love". He may use other words to describe what he is feeling: "attraction/pull", etc.

At the airport he had to act with his heart not brain- it was an impulsive expression of his love. If he had time to analyze, think, and re-analyze, he may not have put the ring in her finger.

I think Zoya is still farther behind in understanding her feelings compared to Asad.

yes, asad's head has to catch up with his heart... he has to have some introspection, that ishq pe zor nahi, and that zoya is exactly the partner for him, THE one, just that she does not look like one... I think he has to analyze and realize how she has been there for her, always... and the depth of his own feelings for her.
