Shantanu has settled down in the house and everybody is happy. Alaka keeps on stealing glances at her and Shnatanu also uses all opportunities to catch a glimpse of her. Everybody is siting down to have Lunch. Ira notices with pleasure that today food has been prepared kept in mind everybody's favourites. She points out her favesa s well as of those of the others. Shantanu remarks that however 'baigaan ka bharta' has not been prepared. Ammaji mentions that she didn't know that it was Shan's fave, otherwise that would have been prepared too. Alaka who was serving food glances up at Shan, who also looks up at her. He states in his mind that everybody's fave food has been prepared but not Alaka's since 'baigaan ka bharta' is her favourite. Everybody finishes eating, then Alaka eats her food confined in her own room and she remembers Shantanu's remarks and breaks down crying.
Shantanu silently proceeds towards Alaka's room thinking as to how time has changed everything between them. He is just about to knock on her door when Meera comes and places a hand on his shoulder. Shantanu is shocked but Meera tells him that he must have been looking for her. She then takes Shantanu downstairs. Alaka observes everything from behind a pillar and thinks that its better that they do not meet. In the hall Shantanu and Meera play chess and everybody is having a good time. Shantanu notices that Alaka is only attached with ding Pujas and stuff and is completely alienated.
At night when Shantanu reaches his room, he finds Alaka inside, he is very surprised to find her there. Alaka returns his diary to him and asks him to destroy it, since those pages contain such information from their past that it will blow away their present and future together. She also warns Shan that that diary should not fall in Meera's hands and that the distance that the present has created between them should be maintained. At that moment, Ammaji and Meera comes and knocks at Shantanu's door. Both Shantanu and Alaka are terrified. Actually Ammaji had come to tell Shantanu that the next day he should also go and get his clothes made for the wedding. Sensing that there was no sound from inside the room, Ammaji and Meera retunrs guessing that the effect of drugs must have made Shantanu go to sleep early.
Coming down the stairs, Meera notices Alaka hurrying through the hall towards her own room. She is surprised as to why Alaka had gone to Shantanu's room when she had refused to meet him in the morning.
Next morning, Shantanu, Meera and several others go, along with Yash, to welcome their Kuldevi into their home. Meera is walking with Shantanu at the very back when she remarked that Alaka had awoke her earlier in the morning so that she could come with them. In fact, Alaka might have visited Shantanu at night to remind him about going to bring the Kuldevi, Shantanu is shocked once again. Meera then tells her Alaka had requested her to get the red-coloured chunari from the Mandir so that they could tie it with Sonu's wedding veil and that it was a practice of the Bharadwaj family to do so. Shantanu remembers of another occasion when he was bringing the Kuldevi to the house and Alaka was with him. That day when Alaka had asked him about the significance of the red veil, he had answered that it was a practice of their family and that one day they would tie it with their daughter's wedding veil.
Alaka is preparing for her daily Puja schedule when Ammaji comes to her with a packet in her hand. On opening it, Alaka finds a red coloured saree. Ammaji tells her that some time back Ammaji had promised Alaka that during any joyous occasion in the house, she woul always gift Alaka a red coloured saree since the red colour suits her best. Ammaji has not failed to fulfil her promise but Fate has stolen away the colours from her. She then tells Alaka that both of them will search for their happiness by dressing up Meera in that red-coloured saree.
At that moment, a guy on a motorbike is shown driving at a neckbreak speed in competition with a red-coloured swanky car. While passing the party, he snatches the veil away from Meera's hand and drives away. Meera is very angry and she takes a short cut to the road on which the bike and car are traveling and on reaching a spot, she swerves the branch of a tree so that the branch hits the rider of the bike and he falls on the ground. Meera snatches away the veil from the guy's hands who stands up with an amused expression. The car also comes back and a snooty girl alights from the car. She tells a number of things about India and its culture to Meera who answers her back. Meera tells her that she doesn't know anything about culture and behaviour so that if she wishes then she should come to the Bharadwaj House where she would be taught about India's culture. The guy looks impressed.
