He checked that everything was in good state in the living room, and then went to check the kitchen. As if in a trance, he started to remember every moment he passed with Roshni in this kitchen.

For the umpteenth time, he had promised Roshni to take her out, but again due to his job, he had been late, and hence the plan had to be cancelled. When he returned home, Roshni was in the bedroom crying. She wouldn't even talk with him despite all his excuses. And why not, like always he was guilty, not because he had put duty first, but because like always he had forgotten to inform her, and she had been at the cinema hall waiting for more than two hours.
Wherever he started to work on a case, he completely forgot his wife like always. Roshni had always told him that she didn't mind the plans being cancelled, since she understood his duty, but she only wanted him to send her a message to inform her so that she doesn't end up waiting like a fool for hours and hours. And again the same thing had happened today, and she hadn't even prepared diner.
He didn't know how to cook anything except boil noodles, but he hated when his love was crying or angry with him, so today he had decided to cook for diner. He went in the kitchen and tied an apron. Then he looked for all the necessary utensils and ingredients to start cooking. But since he was very rarely in kitchen, he made a lot of noises due to which Roshni had come to spy on him from the kitchen door.
He took out the chopping board and started to cut some carrots, when suddenly he cut his finger.
"Ouch" he said, and looked at the cut.
Suddenly he felt his hand being snatched and Roshni was looking at the cut. She started to cry even more when she saw he was hurt.
He didn't know what to do, tend to his wound or comfort Roshni. Finally he gave up on his wound, and took Roshni in his arms to comfort her. After a few minutes, Roshni realized that Arjun had been hurt, she pushed him and went to bring the first aid box.
She made him sit, and started to clean the cut, and put some bandage on it, all the while she was saying, "Pata nahin yeh kitchen mein kyun aya hein? Jab cooking bhi nahin janta hein, then why try! Ek ACP who can carry guns and fight, cant even cut a carrot!"
Arjun almost laughed at her talks.
After the treatment, she took his face in her hands and said, "Arjun promise me that till I'm here you'll never ever cook! Forget about the cutting part, god even knows whether what you'll cook will be edible or not! And frankly my sweet hubby, I'm too young to die due to food poisoning!" She then gave him a sweet kiss on the bandage and drove him out of the kitchen so that she could cook now without any hindrance.
He smiled while going out, because if he was in the kitchen, he'd always be holding her or touching or talking with her or stealing kisses from her, and then they'd end up with no dinner.

He sat on a kitchen stool and started speaking with a sad smile, "Roshni, you'd be happy to know that now I know cooking! And that I don't cut my fingers anymore! I had to learn cooking, because I had no one to cook for me anymore! Why did you leave me, Roshni?"
He sat there lost in his own thoughts for a very long time. After a very long time, he forced himself to move and check everything in the kitchen. After that he went to check each room, and every room he visited threw lots of memories and pain at his face. By the time he was finished checking everything except one final room, all his wounds had re-opened, and he could feel the pain of losing Roshni to the maximum. He ended up going to his bedroom as the last thing. This room was the toughest for him, he had spent the most wonderful moments of his life with Roshni in this room. He stared at his bed, and couldn't carry himself further in the room. He leant against the wall, and slowly let his body lie down on the floor. He couldn't stop himself anymore now, the tears started streaming down his eyes. He held on his knees and started to sob like a kid.

Final Part
After sobbing for a long time, somehow he dozed off sleeping on the floor.
He was walking with Roshni hand in hand on a beach. They were both admiring the sunset, when suddenly he felt Roshni's hand slipping from his. He tried to hold onto her hand tightly, but she started to go away from him. He ran after her trying to make her stop, but she wasn't even listening to him, and her image started to drift away. But still he ran after her image, till suddenly he entered in a room, where Roshni was tied to a chair. Blood was oozing from her mouth, and her face held marks of fingers, as if someone had slapped her. He tried to rush towards her, but his legs wouldn't move at all. He tried to shout, but no sound came out of his mouth. Suddenly he saw someone taking a knife and approaching Roshni. He still tried to walk and move and somehow help her, but his body had refused to listen to him. In front of his eyes, he saw his wife being stabbed two times, and her life draining from her body. He tried and tried to move but nothing, he was like a statue'
He watched helplessly when she was dying, and finally she uttered her last word, "Arjun" and died.
"Roshni nahin! ROSHNI!" he shouted and kept on shouting.
He suddenly woke up sweating a lot, and found himself shouting for Roshni. Again he had the same dreams every single night. He was almost afraid of sleeping now. He found himself on the floor, he couldn't stay anymore in this house, this house hurt him too much. He got up and ran from the house, locking the door and running to his SUV as if demons were after him. He got into his SUV and drove to his lodge. It was almost night when he reached the lodge. When he entered his room, he eyed the bed, but he didn't want to sleep at all. His dreams always hurt him a lot. He felt helpless that he couldn't save the love of his life.
He went to his favorite place, his chair next to the table. He took a seat on the chair, and his hands moved automatically to the folder on the table. The folder was the case file of Roshni Suryakant Rawte's murder. Each night he would look at the file, and study all details hoping that at least today he would find a hint which would take him closer to Sikander. He desperately searched and studied all details, but like everyday he didn't find anything which will lead him to catch Sikander. All night long, he didn't accept defeat and read, reread and reread the case files again and again hoping to see if he had missed anything.
Finally he dozed off by early morning, when his mobile started to ring.
"hello," he said.
"Arjun, Rathore here! We have a new case! A girl was found slaughtered under a bridge!" Rathore said and gave him the crime scene details.
Like always, Arjun put back the mask of indifference and coldness on his face and went to work. When he reached the crime scene, everyone was already there. He took out his glasses and put them in the inside of his shirts, and started the investigation. No one seeing him would ever think or believe that yesterday he had been a completely broken person. While he was walking to the crime scene he passed near a cute little girl who gave him a smile. He had always loved kids, especially since Roshni came into his life, so he also gave her a gentle smile and continued his way.
Everyone in his team was looking at him when he smiled at the sweet little girl. They were happy that Arjun at least was laughing, but little did they know the hidden turmoil inside him behind that smile.
