Part 117

A pic of Arnav & Khushi's baby, as given by Isha (B.S.I_Love_You). Thank u!

As Arnav watched, his daughter stirred in her sleep, and opened her eyes to see and her mouth to cry.

Arnav Singh Raizada, the successful business tycoon stood helpless in front of a tiny scrap of humanity, who was exhibiting the lung power of many men at that moment in the night. He looked anxiously at Khushi, who opened exhausted eyes at the cacophony.

As he watched, Khushi sat up, and gathered the baby into her arms. Seeing Arnav staring at them, Khushi smiled and said, "She must be hungry."

Arnav nodded slowly, a wary eye on the baby who was silent at that moment but looked ready to burst into tears at the drop of a hat.

Khushi unbuttoned the front of her new maternity nightwear, positioned the baby as shown to her by the doctor and Naniji, and started feeding her daughter, dropping kisses on her head, hands, and face at intervals.

Arnav stared at them, wanting to save that beautiful moment in his memory, the sight of his wife feeding their daughter.

His daughter finished her meal, and dropped off to sleep.

"I'err..I will burp her'", Arnav said, taking the baby from Khushi, holding the tiny figure in his big hands. The doctor had given him specific instructions on how to do so.

Khushi smiled to see Arnavji's attempts to lay his daughter against his chest and to pat her back gently with his large hand.

A loud, rude burp shattered the silence of the room. Both Arnav and Khushi burst out laughing.

"She is so small'", Arnav said. "'but so loud'"

Khushi giggled.

"She is like her father, not wasting any time in making an impact on the world.", Khushi teased him.

Arnav placed his daughter on the bed, close to the wall, and secured her safety with a mountain of pillows.

"Go to sleep, Khushi. You need it. I will watch over our daughter.", Arnav said.

"Arnavji, you should lie down too.", Khushi patted the space beside her on the bed.

Arnav sat down by her. Khushi caught him by his arm and pulled him close. "Please lie down with me, Arnavji."

Arnav could never resist her. He lay down by her, gently placing his arm under her head, lying facing her.

He watched as his wife slept, and softly tucked the silky strands of hair falling against her cheek behind her ear. Khushi smiled in her sleep, feeling his love. Arnav kissed her forehead.

NK and Akash threw open the doors to Arnav & Khushi's bedroom in RM.

Arnav & Khushi stood shocked at the sight waiting for them. The room was unrecognisable. The recliner had been pushed out to join its pair by the pool, and a cradle took its space. The rest of the room was filled with toys of all sizes and types. Huge mountains of gifts stared them in the face.

"What the'.", Arnav was driven to exclaim.

"We bought gifts for the baby.", NK explained as though his Nannav were blind, smiling widely.

"I can see that.", Arnav said wryly. "How many toy stores did you loot?"

"Well, Bhai, we were not sure what she would like. So we bought one of everything.", Akash explained seriously.

Arnav looked at a huge teddy bear leaning drunkenly against his wardrobe. It was about 10 times the size of the baby.

Akash quickly said, "NK Bhai liked it so much that we bought the bear too. The baby can play with it once she is bigger."

Arnav looked around at what had once been his room, and sighed. Khushi bit back a smile.

Arnav looked at the pink cycle with 3 wheels first and then at his tiny daughter.

"She can ride it when she is bigger.", said Payal, looking anxiously at her Jetji's face.

"And give me a liftwaa. Won't you give your father's Mami a lift, my pari, my rani?", Mami asked the baby, cooing at her. She was thankfully asleep, or the colours on Mami's face would have blinded her for life.

"Her toy car is in the storeroom.", said Aarti softly. "There was no space to park it here."

Khushi giggled at Arnav's expression, holding his hand in hers. Arnav too smiled. He had a crazy family, and there was nothing he could do to change that fact.

Anjali carried the baby into the room, and placed her in her new cradle. All sat around the cradle, looking at the beautiful baby.

As if on cue, the infant yawned and opened her eyes.

The room was filled with ooohs and aaawwws.

"What are you going to name our pari, Chotey?", Nani asked Arnav.

But before he could reply, NK said, "I know! I know what Nannav will name her! Aishwarya. Because she is more beautiful than Aiswarya Rai Bachan."

The others shook their heads at NK.

"Madhuri! Call her Madhuri, Arnav Bitwaa, after Madhuri Dixit!", suggested Mami.

"Or Madhubala, Nandkisore!", suggested Buaji.

"Gouri. I want to name her Gouri.", said Arnav, looking at Khushi.

Khushi paled, her mind in the past, hearing her mother cry out her name in the burning car. Arnav led her to the bed, seated her, and sat by her, holding her hand in a warm clasp.

All looked at Arnav.

"Khushi's mother was Gouri Gupta. And Khushi was humming Raag Gouri throughout the day in the labour room.", he said softly, looking at Khushi.

Nani hugged him and then Khushi. "The name is perfect.", she said.

All nodded. One by one, all hugged Khushi, and praised Arnav's choice of name.

"Gouri Arnav Singh Raizada!", Akash tried it for effect.

All smiled.

NK peeked into the cradle.

"Err..Nannav... err... you might want to clean Gouri Arnav Singh Raizada fast. I think she just peed.", NK said.

All laughed.

Smita,😊

Here is my interpretation for Part 117.

A place or state of ideal happiness, blissful state, delightful state, relating to the characteristic of Heaven or Paradise is what is shown in this update... ELYSIAN says it all...

"All I could feel was love leaking in my soul and my heart seeping bits of heaven"

~ Brandi L. Bates, Amid the Cacophony of Cries

"A starving child is a frightful sight" ~ Anne Rice

Khushi unbuttoned the front of her new maternity nightwear, positioned the baby as shown to her by the doctor and Naniji, and started feeding her daughter, dropping kisses on her head, hands, and face at intervals.

"Who fed me from her gentle breast

And hushed me in her arms to rest,

And on my cheek sweet kisses prest?

My Mother"

~ Anne Taylor

Arnav stared at them, wanting to save that beautiful moment in his memory, the sight of his wife feeding their daughter.

"Memory is a way of holding onto the things you love, the things you are, the things you never want to lose" ~ The Wonder Years, A television show

His daughter finished her meal, and dropped off to sleep.

"After a full belly all is poetry" ~ Frank McCourt

"I.. err..I will burp her...", Arnav said, taking the baby from Khushi, holding the tiny figure in his big hands. The doctor had given him specific instructions on how to do so.

Khushi smiled to see Arnavji's attempts to lay his daughter against his chest and to pat her back gently with his large hand.

A loud, rude burp shattered the silence of the room. Both Arnav and Khushi burst out laughing.

"Getting a burp out of your little one is probably the greatest satisfaction I've come across. It's truly one of life's most satisfying moments"~ Brad Pitt

"She is so small...", Arnav said. "... but so loud..."

"Small enough to hold in your arms...

Big enough to fill your life with happiness and love..."

Khushi giggled.

"She is like her father, not wasting any time in making an impact on the world.", Khushi teased him.

"Whether it's the best of times or the worst of times, it's the only time we've got" ~ Art Buchwald

Arnav placed his daughter on the bed, close to the wall, and secured her safety with a mountain of pillows.

"Go to sleep, Khushi. You need it. I will watch over our daughter.", Arnav said.

"Sometimes the most urgent and vital thing you can possibly do is take a complete rest"

~Ashleigh Brilliant

"Arnavji, you should lie down too.", Khushi patted the space beside her on the bed.

Arnav sat down by her. Khushi caught him by his arm and pulled him close. "Please lie down with me, Arnavji."

"Sometimes, the best way to help someone is just to be near them" ~ Veronica Roth, Divergent

"You will find as you look back upon your life that the moments when you have really lived are the moments when you have done things in the spirit of love" ~ Henry Drummond

"Change is inevitable - except from a vending machine" 😉 ~ Robert C. Gallagher

"What the...", Arnav was driven to exclaim.

"We bought gifts for the baby.", NK explained as though his Nannav were blind, smiling widely.

"There are people who are simply gifts to everyone they meet" ~ Clara Kramer, Clara's War

"A Teddy bear is a faithful friend

You can pick him up at either end.

His fur is the color of breakfast toast,

And he's always there when you need him most"

Akash quickly said, "NK Bhai liked it so much that we bought the bear too. The baby can play with it once she is bigger."

Arnav looked around at what had once been his room, and sighed. Khushi bit back a smile.

"A gift consists not in what is done or given, but in the intention of the giver or doer"

~ Lucius Annaeus Seneca

Arnav looked at the pink cycle with 3 wheels first and then at his tiny daughter.

"She can ride it when she is bigger.", said Payal, looking anxiously at her Jetji's face.

"And give me a liftwaa. Won't you give your father's Mami a lift, my pari, my rani?", Mami asked the baby, cooing at her. She was thankfully asleep, or the colours on Mami's face would have blinded her for life.

"The manner of giving is worth more than the gift" ~ Pierre Corneille, Menteur

"Her toy car is in the storeroom.", said Aarti softly. "There was no space to park it here."

"If you don't like something change it; if you can't change it, change the way you think about it"

~ Mary Engelbreit

Khushi giggled at Arnav's expression, holding his hand in hers. Arnav too smiled. He had a crazy family, and there was nothing he could do to change that fact.

"God grant me the serenity to accept the people I cannot change, the courage to change the one I can, and the wisdom to know it's me"

Anjali carried the baby into the room, and placed her in her new cradle. All sat around the cradle, looking at the beautiful baby.

As if on cue, the infant yawned and opened her eyes.

The room was filled with ooohs and aaawwws.

"Loving a baby is a circular business, a kind of feedback loop. The more you give the more you get and the more you get the more you feel like giving" ~ Penelope Leach

"Words have meaning and names have power"

"From our ancestors come our names, but from our virtues our honors"

Nani hugged him and then Khushi. "The name is perfect.", she said.

All nodded. One by one, all hugged Khushi, and praised Arnav's choice of name.

"We all make choices, but in the end our choices make us" ~ Ken Levine

"Gouri Arnav Singh Raizada!", Akash tried it for effect.

All smiled.

"I am Nobody, nobody is perfect, therefore I am perfect" 😆 ~ Dandi Daley Mackall, Love Rules

NK peeked into the cradle.

"Err..Nannav... err... you might want to clean Gouri Arnav Singh Raizada fast. I think she just peed.", NK said.

"No one likes change but babies in diapers"😉

~ Barbara Johnson

All laughed.

Arnav Singh Raizada, a business tycoon, sharp witted and used to taking cutting yet effective decisions was feeling helpless seeing his daughter showing off her lung prowess. He knew his wife Khushi was having her much needed rest after her ordeal of giving birth. But the little missie had her own agenda! Signal of being awake was like a siren that pulled Khushi from the depth of her sleep. She woke up and gathered the little one in her arms and got ready to nurse her.

Seeing her husband watching she told him that their baby must be hungry and that might be the reason for her to cry.

Once she was picked up by her mother she quietened down. Khushi started feeding her, tending to her lovingly, interspersed with kisses to make the child feel warm, safe and loved.

"A newborn baby has only three demands. They are warmth in the arms of its mother, food from her breasts, and security in the knowledge of her presence. Breastfeeding satisfies all three"

~ Grantly Dick-Read

Arnav who was observing all this wanted to save this beautiful sight in his memory and savour it all his life.

"Every man's memory is his private literature"

~ Aldous Huxley

For him it was a pleasure to see his child feeling sated and falling off to sleep in the arms of its mother.

"Pleasure is the flower that passes; remembrance, the lasting perfume" ~ Jean de Boufflers

Arnav remembering the necessity to burp the baby from the instructions given by the doctor, took the baby and started to pat, placing her against his chest. The loud sound that emerged from such a small body slicing the silence had them in laughter.

"O wonderful, wonderful, and most wonderful wonderful! And yet again wonderful, and after that, out of all hooping" ~ William Shakespeare, As You Like It

Her burp made Arnav say, "She is so small..., but so loud..." making Khushi giggle and teasingly say,

"She is like her father, not wasting any time in making an impact on the world."

Arnav being protective, placed her on the bed near the wall ensconsed in a heap of pillows. Knowing Khushi to be tired after her ordeal, he asked her to go back to sleep. Khushi who complied, asked him to rest too beside her, making space for him on the bed. Arnav though a tough businessman to outside world, was a putty in her hands. He complied with her request, giving her the much needed feeling of love, warmth, comfort and safety. Looking at her while lying down he was absorbed in drinking her beauty.

"Because you're beautiful. I enjoy looking at beautiful people, and I decided not to deny myself the simpler pleasures of existence"

~ John Green, The Fault in Our Stars

He knew that she was a beautiful person not just in appearance. She looked beautiful by the inner glow that radiated from within.

"If not for you, I wouldn't know

What true love really meant.

I'd never feel this inner peace;

I couldn't be content.

If not for you, I'd never have

The pleasures of romance.

I'd miss the bliss, the craziness,

Of love's sweet, silly dance.

I have to feel your tender touch;

I have to hear your voice;

No other one could take your place;

You're it; I have no choice.

If not for you, I'd be adrift;

I don't know what I'd do;

I'd be searching for my other half,

Incomplete, if not for you"

~Joanna Fuchs

He, who had never let his emotions overrule his judgement, had been drawn to her the minute he had laid his eyes upon her. It was not just the voice or face it was her quiet strength, confidence and gentleness that had been his undoing.

"Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart" ~ Kahlil Gibran

When Arnav and Khushi came home with their daughter, they were in for a surprise! Their room had been transformed beyond recognition. The recliner had been placed by the poolside along with its pair to make way for the cradle. The rest of the space, was filled with toys of all shapes and sizes that drew out, "What the..." from Arnav.

Seeing the quantity of toys, Arnav asked his brothers as to how many toy stores were swept clean? Akash's answer, "Well, Bhai, we were not sure what she would like. So we bought one of everything" did not help them to get over their amazement. When Arnav spotted a huge teddy bear, nearly life size, Akash quickly explained that seeing the stuffed toy, NK thought, when she is a bit bigger, she could play with it.

"The bamboo that bends is stronger than the oak that resists" ~ Japanese Proverb

Flabbergasted, Arnav looked around and sighed making Khushi smile to herself at his expression. He spotted a pink tricycle, which at once Payal explained, not wanting to displease Arnav, that it could be used when she was bigger. Mami joined in saying,

"And give me a liftwaa. Won't you give your father's Mami a lift, my pari, my rani?"

Aarti informed him that the toy car was in the store due to lack of space! All these items were for a tiny two day old baby who was only capable of crying, feeding and sleeping!

"A question that sometimes drives me hazy: am I or are the others crazy?" ~ Albert Einstein

Khushi was having a gala time watching Arnav's expressions that were flitting across his face!

"When the whole world is crazy, it doesn't pay to be sane" ~ Terry Goodkind, The Pillars of Creation

Arnav smiled looking around.

"There were pecans, there were cashews and then there was just plain nuts"

~ Mary Hughes, Bite My Fire

He thought he had a nutty family and he couldn't do anything about it.

"Have nuts and be nuts" ~ Criss Jami

Since he knew that it was done out of love, he just resigned himself to the fact that he had one nutty family!

"There you have it: our lives in a nutshell. Emphasis on nut" ~ James Patterson, Saving the World and Other Extreme Sports

Anjali who had the baby in her arms, placed it in her cradle. All gathered around to look at the beautiful baby. When she opened her eyes and yawned with her pretty little mouth, the room was filled with people drinking in the pretty picture she made!

Nani's question to Arnav, as to what was she being named as, had others suggesting their favorite ones. NK's Aishwarya after Aiswarya Rai Bachchan, though he found the baby more beautiful than the actress, Mami's Madhuri after Madhuri Dixit and Buaji's Madhubala after the yesteryears actress of great beauty had no takers.

Arnav looking at Khushi, just said,

"Gouri. I want to name her Gouri."

Khushi who had no clue to his selection paled, her mind recalling her past, the time she had last heard her mother's voice calling out to her to run away from the burning car. Sensing her turmoil, of visit to the past, Arnav led her to the bed, made her sit and clasped her hand within his giving her the feeling of warmth, love and security to combat the ghosts.

"Recalling days of sadness, memories haunt me. Recalling days of happiness, I haunt my memories" ~ Robert Brault

All were puzzled by his choice. He explained,

"Khushi's mother was Gouri Gupta. And Khushi was humming Raag Gouri throughout the day in the labour room" looking at Khushi with love filled eyes.

Nani was overwhelmed by his gesture. Hugging him and Khushi she gave him a perfect ten for his choice. All agreed with her.

Akash tried saying,"Gouri Arnav Singh Raizada!", to see how it sounds. It was mouthful but sounded quite majestic and all smiled!

NK peeking into the cradle called out to Arnav,

"Err..Nannav... err... you might want to clean Gouri Arnav Singh Raizada fast. I think she just peed.",

eliciting laughter all around.

"Diaper backward spells repaid. Think about it" 😉

~ Marshall McLuhan

In this update,

We see Arnav is delighted and in a blissful state brimming with happiness with his small family in the hospital. His life, which was lonely a year back, is now filled with all that he ever sought' his wife, his child completing his circle of ring.

We see the happiness they, Kushi and Arnav, experience with even the small tasks connected with the child. A burp from their Princess, delights them.

We see when Khushi requests Arnav to sleep beside her he is transported to his Personal Paradise.

We see when Arnav and Khushi reach their room at RM how they are showered with love!

"Every day is a gift from God; that is why we call today the present"

The entire family had gone overboard and delighted in buying toys and gifts to the new born, some of which could be of use only after a few years! The family unable to decide had bought a piece of each and every item on display at the store! They showed their love by buying for their Princess's happiness, everything that she might want! Though at present, her demand for such things was a zilch!

When the talk turned to naming the baby, Arnav gave his decision to name her Gouri in honour of her maternal grandmother, who was being sought by Khushi all through her confinement. She had resorted to sing compositions of Raag Gouri to seek solace in the place of her late mother, Gouri Gupta. This decision of his filled Khushi with blissful happiness. Nani was also delighted. It made her hug her Chote and Khushi Bitiya and give a Thumbs-up for his perfect choice. The rest too were of the same thought.

Finally Arnav was notified by NK of the urgent task at hand that had to be resolved, of changing the diapers of his infant daughter. The thought of business tycoon who ran a business empire changing the diapers, delighted his family members and had them in stitches! 😆

"By having good memories on every place you just visit, you are building paradise in your own heart and your life" ~ Toba Beta, Master of Stupidity

A truly ELYSIAN update!

That's it from me. Hope you enjoy it!
