Open your eyes and read.
He was worried about ZOYA getting killed because of Mariam.
He called up to check that Mariam had left- why?
Because he FEARED FOR ZOYA'S SAFETY.
How did she repay him for saving her life and dying almost every second fearing for her safety?
By making Mariam stay back- getting Ammi's permission, against HIS WISHES.
And in the excitement to prove herself right, getting his AMMI killed (well, almost)
