Well, we have had a very active forum thanks to the slap. Yes, it was wrong and not justified but when is violence or anger justified? It's human nature to react to stress in different ways. Some get angry, some cry, some panic, some internalize it and some hurt others. For others, when pushed to extreme, even a combination of different reactions is possible.
Such is the case with Asad. His first instinct to internalize pain but when pushed to the limits, he lets it out in the most explosive way. Gradually, Asad will realize that these violent outbursts don't always help. Perhaps, acting with patience and calm might be more fruitful in the long run.
We have three big examples of this explosion:
1. Yeh mera bhai hai sequence where he bashed Haseena's brother into a pulp and blurt out the big secret that Haseena needed. Eventually, it came back to haunt him and his family.
2. Mangalpur burial incident. Of course, it was imperative he save Zoya and his explosive emotions actually helped his relationship with Zoya. But after returning back, he shut himself in his self imposed cage. His relationship with Zoya deteriorated once again. He didn't report Dilawal and the sarpanch to the legal system and the whole Mariam fiasco has come to bite his family. Zoya would have confided in him about Mariam if he had not shut himself and turned hostile towards Zoya, warning her of consequences if Mariam was found in the house.
3. His anger at Dilshaad's injury and the slap. The slap is another example of his explosive temperament and of course, is going to create more rift with Zoya. If he had given her a chance to explain or sit down calmly, I am sure things would have been different.
Asad is a flawed character and his biggest issue is his temperament. It all stems from his abandonment by his father in his formative years. He doesn't trust anyone and his first reaction to any disaster is his first defense- HIS ANGER.The PH has laid the foundation for his story very well here. Now, what we hope to see is growth in his character. Gradually, as he realizes the folly of his explosive temper, will he tone down a bit? Will he start listening to others? Will he think more rationally? Will he start trusting others?
Zoya, on the other hand has played her part in escalating his temper and distrust in general. She is supposedly a very brave and stoic girl but by staying silent and doing things behind his back, she just adds fuel to his fiery temperament. Once she becomes more fearless and confides in Asad upfront, I am sure he will learn to trust her and tone down his anger.
Taali dono haathon se baj ti hai
Both Asad and Zoya need each other, they can be the best of friends and each other's 'hamdard' They just need to change a little bit...She needs to speak upfront and communicate directly with him and he needs to learn to tone down his temper.
I am sure that's what the storyline will eventually lead to...then it will be "qubool Hai' to all of us
