Rumours around Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana gathered pace over the weekend after reports claimed that Vikrant Massey had been replaced by Raghav Juyal. The buzz spread quickly across social media, prompting questions about casting changes in the ambitious mythological project, even as no official confirmation was issued by the makers.
On Sunday, Vikrant addressed the speculation directly on Instagram. Reposting a report on his Stories, the actor dismissed the claims and described the coverage as irresponsible. The clarification, however, remained visible only briefly, as the post was deleted within minutes, adding another layer to the confusion.
In the now deleted post, Vikrant was categorical that he was never associated with the film. Quoting his note, he wrote, “OK. To put things to rest, I was never a part of this movie. Am not, never was.” He further criticised what he called irresponsible media coverage from respectable media houses.
He also added, “Nonetheless, wishing everyone on Ramayana all the very best. Will surely buy a ticket and watch it in cinemas.” Despite the clear message, the actor deleted the clarification shortly after posting it. The reason behind the deletion remains unclear and has not been addressed publicly.

A subsequent report by Variety India stated that Raghav Juyal has now joined the cast and will portray the character in Ramayana Part 2.
The Variety India report further claimed, “The role was initially supposed to be played by Vikrant Massey, but things apparently did not work out.” It added that Raghav was approached later and agreed immediately. He is expected to begin filming after recovering from an injury, according to the report.
Ramayana is a two part live action project directed by Nitesh Tiwari and backed by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios and DNEG, along with Yash’s Monster Mind Creations. Starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Yash, Sunny Deol and Ravie Dubey, the film will release in Diwali 2026 and 2027. It is positioned as a scale retelling of the epic.
