Chapter 20
Swayam drove Sharon to the doctor and they went up to his office holding hands. Sharon was getting more nervous by the minute. Swayam kept stealing glances at her. After they got off the elevator, he hugged her from his right hand and kissed her forehead reassuringly.
"Everything is going to be fine, fairy. Our little fairy is going to be fine!"
"I really hope so. I don't know I have been having bad feeling about this."
"There is nothing to worry about, sweetheart. This must be because of your bad experience from the last few months and your miscarriage even, subconsciously it has you on edge. I assure you I am not going to let anything happen to you."
She got as close to him as it was appropriate, considering that they were in a doctor's office. She felt the chillness inside subside a little when she drew from his body heat.
Sharon gave her name to the receptionist. She affirmed their appointment and told them to sit in the waiting room. The doctor would call them in a few minutes. They sat on the sofa close to one another. The doctor came out of his office a few minutes later, saluting his previous patients. As soon as he saw Sharon on the couch he came towards them.
"Sharon, how are you doing, my dear?"
"I was kind of hoping you would tell me, doctor."
"Come to my office."
They went inside and the doctor asked.
"Now tell me what happened."
"These past few days I have been feeling a little sick, my stomach gets queasy. Today at work I felt kind of dizzy and fainted. They took me to the hospital. The doctor, there ran some tests and told me I was pregnant. In the beginning, I thought it was a mistake because I haven't had my monthly cycle yet, but he explained that I probably got inseminated on my first ovulation since the operation." "Yes, if the test showed that you are pregnant that would probably be the case. Is he the father?"
"Yes, doctor. I am Swayam Shikhawat."
"Hello. We hadn't met during her previous pregnancy. It is nice to finally meet you." The doctor said a little bit judgementally. He was present during Sharon's operation, and he had not appreciated that the father of the baby was absent to all of Sharon's appointments and to the post accident operation. Sharon's cheeks got heated from the comment, but before she had time to correct the doctor's wrong assumption, Swayam answered for her.
"I was not the father of Sharon's first baby doctor; she was very unfortunate in her previous relationship. But she is with me now and you can be sure that you will be seeing a lot of me for the next nine months." He said with determination.
"I am glad to hear of it. She deserved better; so about your new baby now. How far long are you? Calculate it as best as you can."
"Three weeks and two days" Swayam answered for her once more.
"Alright. Let's have an ultrasound to see what we can find out."
Then the doctor left so that Sharon could change for the ultrasound, but Swayam stayed with her. It was a ridiculous notion but Sharon kind of felt embarrassed for dropping her pants just like that in front of Swayam in the doctor's office. Swayam was looking at her and when her cheeks turned scarlet he started laughing.
"Come on fairy. I have seen each and every part of you. Hell! I have even tasted each and every part and you are still self conscious next to me?" Sharon blushed even more and Swayam took her in his arms. "You are the most adorable creature in this world you know that? I am going to turn around for you to change because I don't want to stress you or the baby, but when we get home I am going to get thoroughly reacquainted with your whole body so that you can never ever feel self conscious around me."
After he turned around, Sharon undressed quickly and sat on the chair the doctor had appointed for her. The doctor came back a couple minutes later and he started the ultrasound. He did not speak for a minute or two and Sharon's heart was about to burst from the agony.
"OK I can see that the tissue we operated on is fully healed that is good. I cannot see the baby yet." Sharon's stomach dropped. What if the hospital mixed the result or something and she was not pregnant. That would certainly disappoint her and Swayam. Oh God! he was so looking forward to his little fairy, and now she would totally disappoint him. "But, what you see here at the place the arrow is pointing is the little sac that is encompassing your baby. It is still too small and we can't see it. You should come back in a few weeks then we will be able to see it and hear its heartbeat."
Swayam took her hand into his and squeezed it lightly. Sharon had tears in her eyes and when she looked back at him he was looking at the screen of the ultrasound with awe.
"Is everything alright doctor? Do you think that my previous miscarriage could affect this baby's growth inside me?" Sharon asked fully concerned.
"From what I can see we are not going to have any problems. What I want from you is to be calm and not exaggerate in any of your activities. We will often run tests on you to make sure everything is fine, but I am sure I will be delivering a very healthy baby in a few months."
"Should she get back to work doctor? What are the can and can't we should follow?" Swayam asked
"Yes she can go on with her life as usual, but she must stop when she feels tired or weak. She should eat healthy food, drink a lot of milk and eat at least 2 fruits a day."
"Can I have sex, doctor?" Sharon asked because she knew Swayam was not going to ask this time.
"Sure you can. If something might bother you a little just don't do that. You will both find the best way to do it harmlessly. There is not a specific position I can suggest. It is a trial and error thing. You two seem in love I am sure you will have everything figured out by the next time you will come here; which will be in two weeks from now. Sharon! I will also write you a prescription for some prenatal vitamins that I want you to take it daily. I will leave so that you can get dressed. I will see you again in a few weeks; you can make an appointment outside in the reception area."
"Thank you doctor, we really appreciate it." Swayam said.
"I am glad for the both of you. You have my congratulations." The doctor shook Swayam hand and left them alone.
"Come on sweet fairy; let me help you get up. I told you everything was going to be fine didn't I?"
"Yes. You did and I am very happy I was wrong!"
"OK. Let's go home, I am sure Simmi is going to wait for us like a guard dog, and I don't want to agitate her. She seems scary" He pretended to be scared.
"Ha ha admit it! You want to take me home and try all these positions the doctor suggested we try until we find the best for my condition." Sharon accused him smiling.
"Busted! Now hurry up before I begin here my research here."
Sharon quickly got dressed. They booked an appointment and went straight home. Swayam's predictions were true to the point. Simmi was waiting for them on Sharon's sofa. She jumped towards Sharon as soon as they entered the apartment like a lapdog.
"What did the doctor say? Are you OK? Is the baby OK?"
"Everything is fine so far. We are going to go again in a few weeks to hear the baby."
"OK nice. So I ordered pizza and salad. It is going to be here any minute now."
"You ordered salad? You never eat salad." Sharon remarked.
"You are pregnant, now you have to eat vegetables." Simmi said seriously
"I am not cutting off pizza." Sharon warned her.
"OK, for now but you are eating the salad." Simmi said sternly.
"Oh I like you even more!" Swayam said clearly amused.
"Hey don't team up against me." Sharon accused him.
"We are not teaming up against you fairy, we are teaming up for you" he said sweetly and Sharon pouted clearly disapproving of their behaviour. They ate all together and watched a comedy on the TV. After Simmi left Swayam took Sharon to their bedroom, undressed her tentatively and proceeded to make sweet and tender love to her. When they had both come to their breaking point Sharon felt cherished and loved like never before in her life. They slept hugging each other tightly that night expecting like one person for the future before them.
Next morning, Swayam and Sharon went to work together. Swayam had offered her a few days off, but she turned him down on the spot. She told him she was going to go crazy if she stayed home thinking of all the appointments she was cancelling. He had asked her if she wanted to tell people at work that they were together. She asked for some more time before they announced their relationship news, let alone the baby news. She wanted to keep her pregnancy hushed as long as possible. They did agree though to tell Kria about the baby since she knew now, they were together. Plus Sharon would need her to cover for her whenever she had a bad day with her pregnancy and had to make some cancellations.
As soon as Sharon entered her office Kria barged in right behind her.
"What are you doing here?" she closed the office door behind her. "You fainted yesterday, you should be home resting, not here. I thought a bonus of being the boss's girlfriend was to be able to ditch work from time to time. Not work yourself to death."
"HUSH!!! Do you want everyone in this building to hear you?"
"Don't worry the offices are pretty soundproof, you have to yell like the boss was yelling at you that day about the flat tire to be heard outside."
"Still, let's keep it down just to be sure"
"OK, but that doesn't answer my question. What are you doing here?"
"The doctor said I could come if I wanted to, so I came. Nothing to worry about" "Nothing to worry about? Girl you fainted yesterday. Did they find out what happened to you?"
"Yes they did" Sharon said in a low voice, not because she did not want anyone to hear them but because she was embarrassed to admit that she got pregnant while on the influence of alcohol.
"Well? I am not getting any younger here and I have to go and get Swayam some coffee."
"I got a little dizzy because I am pregnant" Sharon whispered.
"You are what?"
"HUSH! I am pregnant and that is why I fainted. I have to take it easy and it won't happen again."
"Then why are you not in bed?"
"I have to take it easy, not stay in bed for the next nine months."
"So how far along are you? I don't mean to pry but is it Swayam's? I mean I thought you two did not know each other before he hired you, and he was in Europe the last couple of months. I hope it is his baby."
"It is his baby Kria. And we did not know each other prior to my hire here. I got accidentally pregnant when he came back from Europe."
"Isn't it a little bit early to have that kind of symptoms? I mean the first week he was back you were in each others' throats. There was no way he got you pregnant then."
"Ya well it was prior to that. I got pregnant the night of your party." Sharon threw her head to her hands.
"I really know how to throw a party. Well that party turned out to be one heck of a matchmaker for both of us." She winked at Sharon
"Oh you mean all that booze in your party made us all not think of the circumstances of our actions.
"Well I think all turned out pretty good. It is good right? You are going to keep it."
"Of course I am going to keep it" she placed a protective hand on her belly.
"All right, all right. Just checking! So how did Swayam take the news?" Sharon smirked at that.
"He is too happy if you ask me. I mean he is acting like a child let loose in a candy store since we heard the news. This baby is going to have one set of crazy parents if you ask me."
Kria giggled and got up from the chair she was sitting.
"Well I am very happy for you sweetheart! I want you to tell me whenever you need something, anything, as long as you don't get tired. If you'll excuse me now, I have to go and get the new daddy some coffee."
"Kria before you leave I have a favour to ask from you. I want you to keep my relationship with Swayam a secret for the time being. I mean we will let people know about us, just not yet."
"OK, but if you ask me there is no reason for you to hide. You are obviously a match made in heaven" Kria winked at her and left her office.
Sharon contemplated Kria's last words. She knew she could not keep her secret for long but she was still too scared. What if they all thought that she got pregnant on purpose to trap Swayam? Later, she would deal with this later.
Kria took a cup of coffee in Swayam's office. She placed the cup on his desk and said.
"A cup of fresh coffee for the new daddy. I hear congratulations are in order boss."
"Thank you! Kria, I don't have any pictures to show you because the baby was too small to be seen in the ultrasound but in a few weeks we will visit again the doctor and hopefully we will have a better view of our little fairy." he said dreamily.
"Shoot boss, you really have it bad don't you?"
"You can't begin to imagine Kria. With both mother and baby. That is why I want you to keep an eye on her. She shouldn't overdo it"
"You did not have to ask. I am on it! I will be like a guard dog around her. You can call me pit bull from now on."
"Thanks, I really appreciate it."
"Don't mention it Swayam. She is a great girl; I would do it even if she was not your girlfriend." She winked at him too and left his office.
Swayam beamed happily. He liked the fact that his fairy was appreciated by the rest of his employees. That would make her transition from assistant to wife easier for her. He wanted to be married to her before the little fairy came to their lives but he did not want to pressure her. He would insist though, for her to wear his engagement ring. He was going to give it to her this evening when they went to his place. He would make her dinner and give it to her during desert. Everything was going to be fine. His life had finally found the little peace it was missing all this time. Love to warm his poor heart. His fairy was worth the wait of all these years when he was searching for the right woman to be his other half.
The day passed without any problem. Sharon had worked without any dizziness. Her only problem was her stomach that was unsettled and, she constantly wanted to vomit. Kria had brought her some herbal tea that made the vomiting impulse less intense. At lunch break, Kria told the rest of the girls that Sharon still was not feeling a hundred percent well and that she was going to eat at her office. So, she ordered food for both Sharon and Swayam and they ate together at Sharon's desk.
"We should have told Kria about our relationship last week. That way she would have made up excuses for both of us and we would have shared all our meals." Swayam said.
"Ha and what makes you think I would want to spend all my lunch breaks with you?" Sharon teased him. Swayam faked being hurt; left his fork down dropped to his knees and placed one hand to his heart and the other to Sharon's hand.
"Oh! Sweet fairy, please promise me that you will grace me with your presence in all my lunch breaks from now on. I will be your faithful knight waiting for one kind word from you." Sharon could not help but laugh at his antics.
"Come on, Swayam. Stand up. You know I like sharing my lunch breaks with you. You don't have to give me oaths of your undying love."
"Oh, but I want too. And you better get used to them!" he stood up and kissed her sweetly to her mouth.
The rest of their day passed with meetings that both of them attended so when the last one ended they gathered their things and left for Swayam's place. He told her he wanted them to go there because he had no more clean clothes at her house and she complied without any further conversation on the subject. When they got there he helped her sit on a chair next to his breakfast counter, and he proceeded to make chicken with rice and boiled vegetables. They ate together the one feeding the other like two lovebirds. It was a unique experience for Sharon who usually was the one to do all the work around the house, no matter if it was her house or her boyfriend's house.
After they finished eating, Swayam took her to his arms and led her to the love seat in the living room.
"I did not get any desert. Will you forgive me?" he asked her sheepishly.
"I don't know. That was a grave mistake." she teased.
"Well, if I give you this, will it make it easier for you to forgive me?" he had the engagement ring on his palm.
"Oh my god, Swayam what did you do again?"
"Hey! I had already told you at the hospital that I have bought you an engagement ring."
"I did not think you were serious about it. Swayam it is too soon"
"It is not too soon. I love you, I want to spend the rest of my life with you, we are having a baby and you love me. At least I hope you do"
"Of course I love you silly, why would you ever doubt that?" She kissed him thoroughly and he found the opportunity to sneak the ring to her finger.
"Do you like it fairy? If you don't I can get you something else."
"Don't. It is perfect and I love it."
"It is suitable for a fairy that is why I bought it for you." He told her before he resumed kissing her. And he did not stop until they were both panting for breath.
"Are you feeling all right, fairy? Do you think we could try another position tonight?" he asked her with passion gleaming in his eyes.
Sharon stood up abruptly from his lap and ran for the bedroom.
"Race you there." she shouted just before she entered the bedroom. "The looser gets less action."
"You cheated" he said seconds later entering the bedroom as well. "And you are going to pay for that!"
She had taken off her dress and was only in her underclothes. She was on the bed in a very compromising position. Swayam stopped dead on his tracks. His heart instantly started beating a lot faster. She would be the death of him for sure. He moved towards her like a predator to his pray. He started kissing and licking her everywhere on her body. Soon she was begging him to enter her.
"I thought you said the winner would have more action" he said innocently.
"You are the devil. Please please I want you."
"You have me fairy"
"Inside me, please!" her plead had him turned on so much that is was painful. He undressed quickly and entered her. The friction between turned him on even more and their coupling was intense and fierce. Soon they were both panting after their combined completion. They slept once again cuddled in each others' arms
