Well regarding the entire story I am thinking it is what you call a 'phase'.
For a couple to feel so much frustration and pain they have to be in deep all pervading love.
A love so deep that it is unable to voice or express itself.

Sometimes couples try and go back to honeymoon phase which according to me is not possible.
Not when they have been together 5 yrs. Of course there is no spark. Only there is more understanding. Or misunderstanding whatever one might like to call it.

But it is these misunderstandings that lead to something deeper. An echo of each other that is far deeper than any emotion any person can feel.

Why is Maan having those dreams? It is the fear of losing her out to something. And that something is not a person. It is the brick wall they have hit. It is that wall he fears. Not Geet. Or her so called limitations.

He says "It was not love after all..." And that according to me is not a wrong statement to make. Although it sounds all wrong.

Because there are things in this world that a simple word or emotion like love cannot handle.
Things like ego, passion for work, drive to further own career. It sometimes makes the opposite person unbearable.

What this couple needs is I believe 'empathy and understanding' rather than love. That should be their pursuit...

You've hit the nail on the head, Sheesh, and don't you know it. I wouldn't have allowed Maan to say that "It was not love after all..." if I didn't think that his saying so was not understandable or justified. He would of course say that but...I don't think even he believes it deep down. He didn't say it rashly; it was deliberate.

@bolded: I could not have said it better myself. Especially what you've said about the spark. I've thought it, seen it and now am writing about it but you've said it all in those two lines.

The ruffling of the crunched leaves under the foot of the beast bought a repulsive sensation in her stomach and she let her instinct lead her senses as she ran, away from the sounds, that throbbed her head, making her sick..
She heard a voice call over her name from above, making her close her ears with her palms.
She had whipped around to see the beast standing eye to eye and she whispered "Shika! Is that you? I thought it was a beast"
