Part 4

"Handa, you won't play" Orman said eyeing Geet who shrugged smilingly. "But sir, she was alright yesterday" Maan protested eyeing Geet who looked away. "You know, one night is enough for getting ill" Geet explained to Maan. Maan scowled and jogged to the other girls.

Geet sat silently scoping through a magazine talking about Stephan Hawking and his scientific explanations. Orman told Maan to go and sit, so he jogged back and sat near Geet. For the first time, Geet glanced at Maan closely in his black tank top; he looked like the hero of any film who liked to show his muscles. She gulped down erasing this image from her mind and tried to concentrate on her magazine. She was quite shy when she thought about these things and Geet turned red.

Maan looked at Geet, who was turning like a beetroot. She was playing with her hair, while her eyes were dancing on the magazine.

"She's really ill" Maan thought noticing her red cheeks.

Maan drank iced water and glanced at Geet who was glancing at Maan in the corner of her eyes.

"What's that? My magazine on How To Get Maan Khurana out of my back?" Maan smirked.

Geet rolled her eyes and said "You're not that famous for a reporter to interview you". Maan smiled and sprinkled some water on himself.

Geet put her hands on her lap, caressing her dress. She looked at the girls who were sprinting away.

"Thank god I convinced Aunty to write a sick note" she thought.

She dropped her magazine on the ground. Maan bent down to tie his lace and at the same time Geet bent for her magazine and their heads collided.

"Oww" Geet hissed while Maan grabbed the magazine and smiled looking at Geet who was rubbing her forehead.

"I can't believe you're so weak, my head just touched yours and you're in pain" Maan laughed.

Geet scowled.

Maan glanced at the title and handed the magazine back to Geet. "I remembered reading about the black holes, it's fascinating'" Maan talked without thinking Geet was next to him.

Geet smiled.

Maan realized what he was just saying and kicking his back, he scowled and left walking towards the locker room.

"Maan wait" Geet called and quickly walked behind him. Maan continued to work furiously but seeing Geet walking so fast, he stopped and turned facing her.

"What" he snapped.

Geet stared at him.

"Go and tell Vaishnavi that the Great MSK knows what a black hole is so that she publishes it in the first page of the school newspaper" Maan snapped angrily.

Geet was a little shocked.

"Why are you so agitated?" Geet asked shocked. "I just wanted to know if you have the book 'The Grand Design' that's all" Geet asked a little hurt.

"Yes I have" Maan snapped. "No need to get that hyper, do you know if there's a copy in the school library?" Geet asked.

"I'm not the librarian, damn" Maan cursed. Geet was taken aback and mumbled "sorry" and she turned to go away.

Maan ran his fingers in his hair and said "wait Geet stop".

Geet stopped but did not turn. "No, the library does have, but currently Mr. Moore, the Physics teacher has the book and he's studying it, you can go to the city and check other libraries if you want" Maan answered a little more gently.

Geet nodded.

"It's going to take me much time I thought" Geet said and covered her mouth turning red. Maan hid his smile. "Thank you, I'll ask Jessie to accompany me one day" Geet said smiling.

"I can lend you the book if you want" Maan said and quickly regretted what he said.

"Why I'm becoming the sick puppy which is easily manipulated" he thought.

"Really'" Geet eyes lighten up like a Christmas tree and her earnest look made Maan smile but he managed not to.

"No, that's too much to ask, you already told me enough'" Geet said modestly. Maan rolled his eyes.

"Come, my house is not that far from here" Maan said.

"We are'I'm coming'I'me'" Geet looked dazed.

"Wait for me here" Maan said and Geet nodded.

"I wonder if I'm doing the right thing" Geet thought. "I desperately want to read this book though" Geet pondered. "What shall I do? Shall I call Mom and ask her opinion or'"

Meanwhile Maan returned from the changing room and Geet looked as perplexed as ever.

"Come'" Maan said.

"I'I'" Geet hesitated. Maan waited and saw Geet's cheeks flaming red. "Don't worry I won't kidnap you" Maan said sarcastically. Maan walked and Geet followed quietly.

"You are not that bad" Geet said. Maan turned around and said "I'm rude, very rude, so better not get to friendly with me or you'll regret it".

Geet nodded like an obedient child.

"You really think by not following the class or by being rude you can be strong" Geet thought and immediately regretted it.

"What?" Maan snapped angrily. "Look, this is my life and you've not right to tell me your opinions about that" Maan barked.

"I'm really sorry" Geet said apologized, while biting her lips. "Never mind" Maan snapped walking quicker. He opened the door of his car *driver's seat only* and sat. Geet stood there like a statue.

"Do you want an invitation to sit?" Maan asked. Geet shook her head and sat behind silently.

The journey was so silent. Neither Maan nor Geet talked.

Maan opened the door and slammed. Geet followed more quietly and perplexed. Maan vanished inside leaving Geet at the doorsteps who was checking how huge his house or rather his mansion was.

Geet walked around and came in front of a mirror checking her appearance.

Maan was walking and stopped dead in his tracks. He turned and checked if Geet was following him. He rolled his eyes and went upstairs. Geet looked around and walked shyly inside. She peeped around and walked fascinated.

"Maan?" she called looking around.

"The book" Maan said scaring Geet who was already frightened.

"Whaa" Geet was shocked and bumped into the sofa and fell on it. Maan smirked. Geet quickly got up.

"The book" Maan said handling Geet. Geet turned red.

"Well, now comes to the deal" Maan said.

"We have a deal?" Geet asked confused.

"Well you thought I'm going to give you this just like that" Maan smirked. "No, so I'm waiting'tell me what you want in exchange" Geet asked.

"Nothing much, just helping me with my Maths, Physics" Maan said. Geet smiled and asked innocently "why me? I mean the teachers are better and you can afford private tuitions'"

Maan glared at her and snatched the book back. "Don't ask stupid questions, will you or you won't?" Maan asked angrily. "Sure I will but when?" Geet asked. "School finish at 2, meet at Gemini Coffee Shop at 2.05 and 1 hour later you can go home" Maan said.

"That sounds fine" Geet smiled. "I know how it feels when once you don't follow the class and the teachers ignore you as if you don't exist even when you start following'" Geet said and started marching out.

Maan stared at her as she went. "How does she know?" he thought and followed.

Geet stopped as she did not know where she should head now. "His house is like a labyrinth, I wonder how he does to find his way out" she said. Maan rolled his eyes as he heard Geet talking to herself. "This way BO" Maan said and Geet followed him.

"Maan Bro" a sweet little voice said. Maan stopped so abruptly that Geet bumped into him. Maan glared at Geet who went red again like a tomato. "Can't you watch where you're walking" Maan snapped. "Sorry and can you stop glaring" Geet said turning around to see who it was.

A sweet little girl came and wrapped her arms around Maan's leg. She had two pigtails.

"Bro, you bunked classes again" the girl asked innocently. "No kid, I am not bunking class" Maan smiled taking her into his arms. "What are you doing here then?" the girl asked. "Nothing kid" Maan smiled. The girl looked at Geet suspiciously as Geet smiled at her. "She's your new girlfriend?" she asked Maan. "What?" Maan said shocked. Geet eyes widened and both of them said "no way, we are not together'"

Maan's sister giggled and pretending to whisper but she said loudly. "Thank god, you broke up with Ally, I hate that snob" she said wrapping her arms around his neck and continued "I hope she's nice" her sister said looking at Geet who was opening and shutting her mouth. "Looks like she loves goldfishes" the little girl laughed.

"Anvesha, there's nothing like that, I just lend her my book" Maan said kissing her cheek and put her down.

"Now we better go" Maan said patting his sister's back "or we'll be late". Anvesha looked at Geet and said "what's your name?" Geet looked at Maan who glanced at his sister.

"Her name is Geet, and right now we are getting late, kid" Maan said kissing Anvesha again. "Don't worry, I won't tell Dadimaa that you brought a girl home" she giggled and disappeared inside. Geet was bewildered while Maan said "don't mind Anvesha, she's pampered that's all" Maan laughed.

"I never saw you so nice...it's nice to see you playing with your sister than being rude" Geet giggled and walked to the car. Maan looked at her shocked.

It was already break time when Maan and Geet reached.

"I'll wait for you in front of the gate" Geet said and she saw Jessie who was giving her curious looks.

Just then Ally came, wearing the highest heels ever Geet saw. "She's looking like a giant with that shoes" she thought.

Ally came and kissed Maan and Geet vanished away. Maan looked around to see where Geet was but she was gone.

Jessie looked at Geet. "Where were you, geek?" Jessie said. "What are you doing with Maan? And I know about the fake note'" Jessie said and sighed. "Geet, honestly you can't hide anything from me" she continued shaking her head. Geet had told Jessie about her real goal of coming in that school.

"He lend me that book in exchange of helping him in Mathematics and Physics" Geet whispered "but please keep this a secret please, for me" Geet said giving her best friend a pleading look.

"You know that innocent look of yours has magic" Jessie grinned.

Just then, a guy passing by; came. "Hi Jessie, hi Geet" he said grinning. "These guys of this college; smile a bit too much" Geet thought but smiled back. "Hi Yash'what are you doing here?" Jessie asked suspiciously.

"I'm throwing a party at my home, so I am inviting you guys" Yash grinned. Geet gulped looking at Jessie who was grinning now. "Thanks mate, see you around". "23 Mountain-Hill Street, Round-about" Yash retorted. "But we don't know each other, then why are you inviting me?" Geet asked raising an eyebrow. "You don't miss much, hmm, Silent Girl" Yash grinned. "See, from the day you came, all teachers are happy and you are quite a brain and see, today almost the whole school saw you talking to MSK, you are becoming popular" Yash explained and winked. Then he vanished away seeing his friends.

"So we're going, yeah!" Jessie grinned.

"No way'I won't go there, If my bro comes to know'" Geet said shaking her head. "Come on, it's going to be fun" Jessie protested. "I hate parties" Geet defended.

"Maybe something's going to happen, please Geet" Jessie begged. Geet looked away, Jessie knew she would not come. "If you're not coming'I'm not going'and you know I love cakes and music" Jessie said. Geet stared at her and said slowly "fine, you got me on that'I'm coming just for you'"

"I just hope not to meet Maan there" she said slowly.

"Why'you have a crush on him or vice versa?" Jessie said wearily.

"What? Have you lost it?" Geet shouted and some students looked at them as if they were mad.

"No need to get hyper, Geet" Jessie grinned. "Me and Maan? We are from opposite planets, Jessie, and I have come here to learn not to check dumb guys" Geet said.

Geet looked away and Jessie sighed. "Now what happened, sweetie".

"Aunt and Uncle love me a lot, and they always tell me to enjoy with people of my age, they will let me go'but I don't know what to wear'"

"Let me guess, you never went to a party before'"

"Yup" Geet said glumly.

"I'm here for you'you'll rock"'
