"Mom, I'm not sure I'll be able to do this", Geet sighed.
"Oh come on, honey, it's one of the best of the whole country! And I think you should give it a try, you're a brilliant student" her mom encouraged.
"If you say so", she grumbled.
"You have been the best student in this school...love, see you'll shine there" her mom continued.
"As if I had any chance", she muttered softly. She closed her suitcase and took a handbag.
"I hate going far from you" she sighed. "I know hon" her mom said while hugging her. "It's going to be okay..."
"Mom, I got a scholarship for basketball...and I don't even know how to kick a ball!" she complained.
"Your teacher said you can be the best among the studious students, I know we can't afford for the fees of the school, but your teacher managed to give you a scholar for signing in it, so enjoy instead of always complaining, love..."
"What if there, the coach tells me to play in a match? I don't even know how to run...for me studying is my goal..."
"Maybe one day your objective will change, love".
"No" Geet sighed. "Not for me, Getting a degree and later a Bsc and other important certificates, that's it..."
"Come on, the flight is in two hours..."
She was living with her aunt for three months till the vacations.
"This school is best for its Science Department, I'm sure my first class is in Physics" she thought dreamily.
She checked her timetable and got the shock of her life. "Oh god!" she gasped. "My first class in my first morning is basketball?! That is the biggest misunderstanding of my whole existence!"
"This isn't possible", she whined. "Oh god" she begged.
"Ms. Handa" someone spoke. "Yes, that's me" Geet replied. It was Coach Orman, her basketball professor. He was huge and muscular.
"So you're the geek that Victoria sent here..." the coach started. Geet felt uncomfortable with his tone. "Uh, yeah" she replied.
"Firstly, let me tell you that, our jocks and students who love doing PE hates geeks!" Orman continued.
"Oh" Geet mumbled. "So, I have to hide the fact I'm good at studies" Geet said modestly.
"Literally, yes! And please try to gather much information about basketball" the coach said and dissappeared.
"Not great, for a greeting and a start" Geet muttered changing in her tracksuits.
"What is this clothes?" she muttered fussing with her pants.
She joined the other girls in the court. She was playing for the girls team as she was earlier informed.
Geet tried to stay calm seeing some of the girls muscular and all.
"Wow.." someone nearby whispered. "He's even hotter than in my dreams" another girl added. Geet looked at them confused but none of them noticed as they were drooling.
"Maan's so hot to handle" another spoke. Some girls were in their dreamland.
Geet finally saw a young student, as muscular as the coach, jogging to catch Orman for a talk.
"Who's he?" Geet asked aloud. She felt shy to run or play in front of men.
"Oh, he's the assistant coach even though he's a student, he's a bright sport nut" someone else retorted eye-closed, inhaling and exhaling.
"Darn" Geet muttered.
"Sir, who's this new girl?" Maan remarked to the coach. Orman laughed. "Seriously Khurana, you never miss a girl, huh" Orman joked. "Duh, Coach, she's not my type" Maan laughed and added "but who is she?"
Orman cleared his throat and said "she's our secret weapon" he lied.
"Why do we need that?" Maan asked checking Geet who was standing like a statue.
"Sshh, and trust me" Orman said slapping Maan on his shoulder lightly. Maan grinned.
The assistant whistle and everyone gathered around him. Geet tagged behind, hiding behind the tallest girls. Maan looked at Geet with disbelieving eyes.
"Everyone10 minutes of jogging and then stretching exercises" Maan ordered.
Everyone started to sprint.
"He said jogging and these lame brains are sprinting, they are dimwits" Geet thought trying to catch and hide between some girls.
Suddenly she tripped and fell on the ground.
"Ouch" she groaned. "Darn again".
"Get up and continue running" Maan exclaimed. "But I'm hurt" Geet reasoned. "That's not an excuse, run..!" he ordered.
"Double darn you" Geet muttered running and hiding behind a tall girl.
"I wonder how Coach thought this girl is a secret weapon.." Maan said. "She doesn't know how to tie her lacewell..." he laughed shaking his head.
"Jessie" the girl introduced.
"Geet", Geet retorted.
"It was a nice day, right" Jessie said opening her locker. "You got to be joking, right, it was the worst in my life!" Geet exclaimed.
"Okay, for a start, it was nice" Jessie grinned.
"Plus the assistant was always on my back, that crap" Geet said sadly.
"Oh Maan, he's a total jock! He is rich, he is a sport freak, the coolest girl in the col is his girlfriend, what more!" Jessie said.
"Hmm, he's arrogant and stone-hearted! He didn't even pity me!" Geet muttered.
"You wanna hit the sauna?" Jessie asked. "Okay" Geet agreed keeping in mind, not to tell her she was a geek, a highly intelligent girl.
"Right" the girl, Ally said applying her gloss well.
"You look sweaty" Ally remarked.
"Oh yeah" Maan smirked. "I had a fun day today..."
