Would KANK be accepted if released now??

I'm re-watching KANK and I actually like it now after so many years. When it had released back in 2006, it was found to be very mature and way ahead of its time. Is it still ahead of its time in 2012 or are we as an audience ready to accept such stories inspite of the stigma attached to extra-marital affairs? Would it be alright to accept the same cast even today or would we prefer a Katrina to a Rani and an Anushka to a Priety? SRK can still act so I guess he stays the same!😆

But Overall would a movie like KANK be able to hold its own against a JTHJ or a Dabanng or even an SOS. Or it would still be shunned in these times too?

No i wouldn't did not like it then and still don't and reason i started not liking SRK yes this was the reason and the movie that spoilt it. Both him and rani screwed over their spouses due to lust!! kjos vision was messed up

other note loved Veer-Zaara the best SRK-Preity movie😊👏

it would make no difference at all.

and frankly i would much prefer a star cast like rani, preity vs anushka, katrina.

i enjoyed the movie to a certain extent, but i feel like it gave the wrong message and therefore wasn't accepted.

it would have been MUCH WORSE with the current lot star cast.

^^ Yeah but still SRK and Rani's characters were unhappy in their respective marriages. What's wrong with getting happiness elsewhere? They tried really hard with their spouses first.

These days people head for divorce without even trying.

I don't know. I'm just not someone who really believes in getting married to get divorced and go after another guy.

In Maya's (Rani's character) case, she had such a loving and caring husband. How did she not find happiness in him & happiness in another guy?

Nothing made sense to me. It was a bad concept.

I don't agree with the whole cheating factor. Maybe if they had showed a divorce between Abhi & Rani and Shahrukh & Preity and then SRK & Rani get together, then I would have had different thoughts.

I haven't seen the film in years so I have no idea if my perception will change now...but I am not so sure if it would work now either.

The concept of KANK was quite intriguing and could have been great in the hands of another director. The problem was the execution. Karan Johar is too melodramatic a director to be able to explore the subtle nuances of bad relationships and infidelity.

From whatever I remember, my biggest grouse with the film was the character sketches, especially the complete and utter lack of remorse that Dev and Maya felt for cheating on their spouses. I remember not understanding Maya AT ALL. WHY does she not like her husband at all?...the explanation was like...well she just doesn't feel anything for him. Okay. I remember understanding why Dev was so irritated (though he was quite unlikable), but Maya didn't make much sense to me.

The only SRK film that I think would have done much better if released now is Swades...that was really ahead of its time.

i don't think KANK was rejected due to bold them- if it was what double standards man

the same audience who made murder a super hit released 2 years before KANK- found KANK bold enough!

i think the movie tanked because of poor direction- it was slow paced, boring and the performances were repetitive, people were bored of srk-rani, srk-preity, preity looked awful (botoxed face) abhi has no star power- all this didn't work!

yes but he should have thought about his wive and kids.In ranis case she should have never married a guy she did not love to begin with and thought only as a dost and screwed him over!!
