ONLY MOVIES THAT MET WITH BOTH CRITICAL ACCLAIM AND BOX OFFICE SUCCESS DESPITE NOT HAVING SUPERSTAR PERSONA IN THE MOVIE OR BEING RATHER UNDERRATED BEFORE RELEASE

NO MAINSTREAM MASALA MOVIES ARE ON HERE COZ WE EXPECTED SUCCESS FROM IT ANYWAY.

But again it falls into typical rom-com category.

I meant movies that totally surprised you.

Well i think SOTY doesn't fall here as it was supposed to do well since like ever! its a KJO movie, typical masala and all so there is nothing path breaking in it imo. Its like rowdy rathore becoming a BB

rest of these listed- no one ever expected them to do so well, so in a way they did break some kind of norm!

The term 'pathbreaking' sounds too heavily laden with sky high expectations. A pathbreaking film would have to be as good as a Brokeback Mountain or an Inception - both changed our perception of romance and sci-fi respectively.

I would say all these films were exceptionally good. In fact I think collectively these films have been pathbreaking for Indian cinema. They have redefined the concept of 'entertainment' in our country. The fact that most of those films have done well commercially as well proves the fact that the audience is now looking for fresher and different films. I'm very happy to see such films being accepted and that too with grandeur.

Perhaps Salman should re-evaluate his decision to make Dabbang 2. Competition bad gaya hai boss 😆

Dabangg 2 don't need to worry. As it's coming with entertainment tag which what majority of indian audiences enjoy. Dabangg 2 will most likely emerge as the highest grosser of 2012. So no need to worry. There are other releases before it, that should worry. And infact try to avoid clashes with other big films
