Mrunal Thakur calls February 14 wedding rumours with Dhanush ‘scary’

Actor Mrunal Thakur has firmly dismissed rumours linking her romantically to Dhanush, including speculation that the two were set to marry on February 14. The claims, which began circulating on social media late last year, gathered pace after unverified details about a supposed wedding surfaced online.

Addressing the chatter, Mrunal described the speculation as baseless and said she had been falsely quoted. In a conversation with Galatta Plus, when asked about her marriage plans, she responded directly to the ongoing rumours. “Me? No. I think 14th February is going to be like 1st April, April Fools' Day. Because I don’t know who started this… First of all, I’ve been quoted, but I never said anything. And they just said, ‘Mrunal said so.’ I was like, wow, how beautiful. It’s scary,” she said.

Her remarks come amid months of online discussion about her alleged closeness with the Tamil actor. Earlier, she had also reportedly referred to Dhanush as a brother, shutting down speculation about a romantic link.

The rumours initially picked up after the two were seen at a Mumbai party, where a video showed them holding hands. In the same clip, Mrunal appeared to whisper something to the Raanjhanaa actor, prompting smiles and further conjecture. Reports also suggested that Dhanush had travelled from Chennai to Mumbai to attend a screening of Mrunal’s Son of Sardaar 2, an appearance that drew attention as he rarely attends public events.

The speculation even followed Mrunal during promotions for her upcoming film Do Deewane Seher Main. At one event, a reporter asked, “Voh Chennai waale kuch sawaal pooch rahe the aapse.” Siddhant Chaturvedi, her co star, joked, “Inse tha voh Chennai waala yaa mujhse tha?” Mrunal clarified the question was meant for him, as Siddhant laughed and continued teasing her until another reporter remarked, “Hum samajh rahe hain.”

Despite the ongoing buzz, Mrunal has maintained that the wedding talk is unfounded. Professionally, she is preparing for the February 20 release of Do Deewane Seher Main and also has Dacoit with Adivi Sesh in the pipeline.
