Life wasn't that bad sometimes
Khushi held her throbbing head in her hands and winced as the pain sliced through her temples. God, why hadn't she taken her medicine?
This chronic sinusitis was such a pain in the ass! And it hurt so much!
She groaned as another wave of pain hit her with immense force, blinding her for a few moments. Unwillingly, her mind wandered to the scene in his office and she groaned again. Here she had been, contemplating that he wasn't that bad, when he'd gone ahead and broken all assumptions.
Mr. Arnav Singh Raizada was as clichd as the term would allow. He was tall dark and handsome, definitely. But he possessed too much of a temper and had a thing for women whose legs opened as much as their mouth.
Khushi's eyes snapped open at her last thought, disbelief heightening her agitation. Since when had she been so venomous? And why the hell did the scene in his office matter to her?
She massaged her temples and frowned, remembering the rage she had felt seeing Ms. Kashyap on top of him like that. They've quite obviously done a lot more Khushi; she thought with a wave of nausea as an image warped inside her head. Taking a deep breath to quell the ache that was rapidly progressing to the back of her head, she dialed Shai's number.
"Thank you for finally calling me up!" screamed the voice on the other end of the phone. Grimacing once more, Khushi physically held the phone away from her ear. Jesus, why was Shaina screeching so much?
"Shai, what's with the shouting?" she groaned once again, pressing her aching head. Almost immediately, her friend's voice changed. "Did you take the medicines Khush?"
"No, I forgot." Khushi whimpered into the phone, clutching the device tighter. "Di, you call me back later, there's some Cetirizine in your bag. Take it and then we'll talk"
She nodded at what Shai said, then realized the she couldn't see. "Sure" she whimpered once again and ended the call.
Drunkenly reaching for her shoulder bag with one hand, she held the bridge of her nose with the other. She groped around blindly, feeling for the blister pack of the medicine.
Pulling it out, she uncapped the water bottle kept on her desk by some blessed soul earlier in the day and drank. Khushi grimaced slightly as the bitter taste of tablet hit he tongue. She pulled another two draughts so as to dispel the nasty taste.
Keeping the bottle away, she put her head over her hands and closed her eyes for two minutes.
Arnav sighed and leaned his head back. His back and shoulders ached like crap, but the good thing was that his work was done. Well, for today anyway.
He pushed himself out of the leather chair, grabbed his keys and exited his cabin.
It was pretty late, he realized as he checked the Rolex on his tanned wrist. He hadn't even noticed how the time had passed. Work, he thought, shaking his head.
Arnav had assumed that he was the only one in office this later, apparently he was wrong.
Ms. Gupta's glossy head was held in her hands as she got up and fumbled around for something. He saw her tilt her head back and breathe in deeply, the motion tightening the material across her breasts.
f**k it! He cursed and made his way to his secretary, who by the looks of it needed some help.
"Ms. Gupta?" he enquired softly, silently padding his way to her desk.
"Holy f**k!" she jumped back, eyes widening behind the lenses almost comically as she clutched her thundering heart.
Arnav's eyebrows rose at her choice of words. Not always Ms. Goody Two Shoes are well then Ms. Gupta? His thoughts took a drastic turn as he wondered whether she would use that language when he would thrust inside-
"What's wrong Ms. Gupta?" he asked her in a hoarse voice, thanking the darkness that surrounded him. It was the only thing that kept his arousal hidden.
"Nothing" she panted, once again clutching the bridge of her nose. Turning around, she grabbed her bag and made no move to address him any further.
Oh boy, and did that make him angry.
Arnav grabbed her wrist as she brushed against him and pulled her back. "When I talk Ms. Gupta, you do not interrupt nor do you leave. And you've done both in just two days"
He saw two emotions flit through her eyes-fear and awareness. Surprisingly, the awareness overtook the fear. She wasn't unaffected by this burn, contrary to what she thought.
Cursing in his mind, he pushed her slightly away from him. What the hell had he just done? He'd never let his anger get physical with an employee!
"I'm sorry sir" she replied in brusque manner, making no move to look at him. Curbing another of his upcoming anger bouts, he exhaled. "What are you doing here Ms. Gupta?"
Khushi controlled the urge to roll her eyes at her charming boss. "I'm working Mr. Raizada; I had some work to do."
Apparently, he caught the sarcasm in her tone as his mouth drew into a thin line. "I figured that part out Ms. Gupta."
She nodded so as to affirm his statement and winced as another shard pain speared through her temples. Unknowingly, she grasped his shoulders to keep herself steady.
"Are you okay Khushi?"
She looked up; her eyes wide open despite the splitting pain. He'd said her name for the first time and it sounded so'erotic. No one had ever said her name like that. It was like he was making love to her name by the mere sound of his voice.
Khushi whimpered and fisted her fingers into his jacket, her knuckles turning white with the force she was applying. She sagged against him as everything turned black for a moment.
"What the f**k!? Khushi!" was the last thing she heard as her lashes drooped.
With one hand under her knee and other resting under her breasts, he carried her to the designing room; a secluded area two doors away from his cabin.
He set her down for a moment, still supporting her against his frame. Arnav punched in the security code and pushed open the sleek ivory door. Lifting her once again, he strode inside the room.
Only the top most employees at AR knew this apartment even existed. And even fewer knew that he'd designed it himself.
It comprised only of two quarters; a kitchen and a bedroom, attached with an en suite bathroom. The kitchen was a simple affair with extremely high tech devices. The bedroom in its color palette was akin to the eating area; it was painted in monochrome.
Black adorned the walls in a mournful manner, while each piece of the furniture was burnished in a stark ivory color. Candid monochromatic photographs were decked against the north wall.
The white bed dominated the room, the bed sheets once again a crisp black.
Arnav laid an unconscious Khushi lightly on the mattress, withdrawing to pull the dark duvet over her. But as he tried to pull away, he noticed that her fingers lay fisted into his collar.
Hot protectiveness rolled off him in waves as he gazed at her angelic face. He swallowed tightly as his hot stare roamed lower towards her bosom. Her position had pushed up her breasts and he could decipher the upper swells under the diaphanous top.
The skirt hugged her curves amply, hiking an inch to showcase the shapeliest calves he had ever seen.
Clenching his jaw, he took off her glasses and kept them on the night table. Next, he removed her pumps and put them at the foot of the bed. His groin tightened as he came in contact with her silky skin and he physically took a few steps back, needing to put some distance between them.
He looked at Ms. Gupta for a second more and turned around; hopelessly in need of a long cold shower.
