Chapter 48

Four months had gone by for both marriages. While Payal and Akash were normal around one another, talking, smiling and laughing together Arnav never lost an opportunity to flirt with his wife while Khushi couldn't help but blush at the closeness between them sometimes.

Shyam had been trying for days to get a closer look at the file in Arnav's cupboard but he never got the opportunity plus finding out that Arnav kept the key in his wallet. It would be impossible to get it out from there. He was also observing Khushi a lot more than usual but to only find her either talking to someone or another or if she was anywhere near Arnav the look of love she gave him made his blood boil.

It was Anjali's godh bharai. Everyone who was anyone were invited. Even NK had come back.

NK: Hey everyone. Look who's back.

Manorama: NK babua. How are you?

NK: Good masi. How are you?

Manorama: What can I say? All my perfumez have become old and I don'tz have time to buy new ones.

NK: Don't worry masiji I have brought you some perfumes and a brand new make-up kit with me.

Manorama: Oh Babua you are so brilliant and caring alwayz for your masi.

Manorama smiled at NK while he moved his suitcase inside the house with him. He saw the house been decorated with flowers and lights filling up the whole living room.

NK: Masiji what's going on?

Manorama: Oh NK babua it is Anjali bitiya's godh bharai.

NK: Gawk bharai?

Manorama looks at him the laughs waving her hands in the air and nodded a no.

Manorama: No NK babua godh bharai.

NK: Oh sorry sorry masiji. What is that?

Manorama: This is special day in a for both mother and baby when all women come give blessings to both and lots of gifts.

NK: That's good for Di naa. It would great. I can film it.

Manorama: No no NK babua. No men allowed.

NK: Why masiji?

Manorama: Just like mehndi rasam no men allowed in this either. So no wearing sareez again NK babua. Or else.

With that she walked off leaving a slightly embarrassed NK.

Arnav had gone to work that day due to some work so he was out of the way. Akash had specially been told by his mum not to interrupt like the last time round so he had wanted to go to work as well but then who would keep an eye on NK as Shyam had gone out as well. So he stayed at home making sure NK didn't get up to any mischief.

The whole front room was decorated with flowers and lights. Anjali had been brought down from her room dressed as a new bride. She was glowing looking every bit the would be mother at seven months pregnant. Khushi was on one side of Anjali while Payal was on the other bringing Anjali down. They sat her down on some seating (like when the mu dikhiye happened). Anjali couldn't help but blush. She was also very happy.

The elders started doing some pooja first giving her money and their blessings. Then everyone followed giving their blessings and gifts.

Once everyone had given their gifts music was played. Khushi had to drag Payal onto the dance floor as she didn't want to dance. Pretty soon everyone was dancing from nani to mami and a lot of other women enjoying themselves. Khushi all of a sudden had an idea. She went back to her room grabbed a few things and went out. She went downstairs and grabbed her sister. They both went to the downstairs guest room where Khushi told her sister her idea. Payal refused at first but Khushi insisted and also made a pouty face. Once Payal said yes Khushi was elated.

About half an hour later nani and Anjali were wondering where when both Khushi and Payal walked in looking exactly like Anjali. From the way she was dressed to looking like new mums themselves. Everyone looked at them in shock. At first Payal was looking nervous then embarrassed while Khushi's smile started fading away. All of a sudden Anjali stood up looked at both of them and burst out laughing. Seeing her everyone else started laughing making Khushi start acting even more like Anjali but as Payal was too embarrassed she ran back into the guest room to get changed.

While doing her Anjali acting nobody noticed the front door opened and Arnav walked in. He had forgotten the whole godh bharai was going on but as soon as walked in he saw Khushi and he froze. Khushi felt a breeze and she turned around to see Arnav gaping at her. Their eyes met for a second before Arnav looked her up and down. Khushi realised what she was wearing and what it must look like. Anjali and nani looked at Khushi then looked at where she was looking at. Seeing Arnav there the both of them burst out laughing even more. Payal had come back out of the guest room by then to see Arnav and she also couldn't help but laugh.

Khushi looked at Arnav then at nani and Anjali completely embarrassed that she ran into the guest room not being able to face anyone.

Anjali then turned to look at Arnav who was still gaping. She walked over to him but he didn't pay any attention towards her still staring at the place where Khushi had just been standing a little while back. Anjali looked at him, saw he wasn't looking at her so she pinched him.

Arnav: Ow!

Arnav turned and looked at his sister.

Arnav: Di what was that for?

Anjali: Well I was trying to get you out of your trance. So that was a nice scene to walk into wasn't it Chote.

Anjali couldn't help but grin.

Arnav looked at her.

Arnav: Unbelievable.

With that Arnav went back to his room. Anjali couldn't help but look at nani who in turn was trying hard to stop laughing at the scene which was just witnessed by everyone.

After this everyone started heading of home.

Khushi practically ran into the guest room, locked the room and stood with her back against the door. Her breathing becoming heavy, her heart beating fast and the feeling of restlessness taking over. Her eyes were closed while her head was turned towards the ceiling while her head rested against the door. Suddenly her head came down, eyes wide open, her hand going over her mouth as she realised what had just happened. She moved towards the bed, sat down and starting biting her nails wondering what she had done and what everyone was thinking. She started talking to herself.

Khushi: Hai Devi maiyya yeah maine kya kardiya? Hamne to sirf Di ko kush karne ke liye kiya tha aur phir…..

Her mind went onto Arnav and what he saw when he walked in.

Khushi: Ab woh kya sochenge? Hai Devi Maiyya unko abhi aana tha? Kuch der baad nahi aa sakte the kya?

Khushi had a look of utter shock and her hands were gesturing everywhere.

Khushi: ab main unke samne kaise jaoongi? Or Di or Nani who bhi kya sochthe honge? Hai devi maiyya ab main unke samne nahi jaa sakti.

With that she went back to biting her nails.

Arnav meanwhile had gone to his room pondering over the sight he had just seen downstairs. What the….? came to mind first. He started undoing his tie first slowly while images of what had happened downstairs came to mind. He went to the cupboard and put his tie in and then started unbuttoning his shirt. He went and sat on the recliner, his head resting back, his one leg on the recliner and the other still on the floor trying. He was gathering his thoughts. HP interrupted his trail of thinking and told him dinner was served. He came downstairs. He was still thinking when he was being served by Payal. He looked up and saw her and then looked around for Khushi who was nowhere to be found. Anjali saw him looking for Khushi and couldn't help but grin. She gestured over to HP to go get Khushi from the guest room. He came back after a while saying Khushi wasn't hungry. Nani, Anjali and Payal couldn't help but giggle, Mami just huffed while Akash, NK, Shyam and Mama just gave confused looks. Arnav didn't know how to look except bewildered. He suddenly realised that she was afraid to face him and him only which bought a smirk to his face knowing full well why.

Akash: Di, dadi, Payal what's wrong? Why are you all smiling and holding back your laughter?

Nani: Well if you had seen what we had seen maybe you would have shocked. Isn't that right Payal bitiya?

Payal suddenly went crimson. She put down the bowl she was holding and ran towards her room blushing. Nani and Anjali looked at one another and started laughing even louder. Arnav was the only one who got the joke by realising Payal must have looked the way Khushi did and looked at Akash who was still looking very confused.

With both daughter-in-laws locked up in different rooms HP had to serve everyone and the only one annoyed at this was mami.

Mami: See this is what phatti….i mean our daughter-in-laws are like. Leaving their work behind.

Nani: Manorama even you are the daughter-in-law of this house then why don't you take over?

Manorama looked at Nani who was busy glaring at her. Nani turned to look at HP.

Nani: Hari Prakash could you make to separate tray's. One for Khushi bitiya and one for Payal bitiya and take them to the rooms. I don't think they will face anyone of us anymore.

Akash: But dadi what happened?

Nani explained what happened earlier with a smile while Anjali still couldn't stop giggling. Mama couldn't help but laugh while NK who had some food in his hand dropped it on his shirt. He excused himself and went upstairs to get changed. Shyam heard what happened and was the only one trying hard to control his temper. His eyes shot up and looked at Arnav who was busy still smirking at the memory. Shyam excused himself saying he had a phone call to make. He headed upstairs.

He headed straight to his room pacing back and forth but realised that everyone was downstairs and this was a golden opportunity. He went to Arnav's room looked around and fortunately for him he found Arnav's wallet. He looked inside his wallet and found the key to the locker inside the cupboard. He went to the cupboard opened the locker and took the file out. He started reading realising that it was Arnav's will and that Arnav's whole property was in Anjali's name. This made him mad but then he realised this was perfect. A plan started forming in his head but he needed time to execute it. So first thing he did was head to the washroom, grabbed a brand new unopened soap bar, opened it, placed the key on top of it and made a copy. Once back out he quickly put the file back and walked out heading towards his room without realising someone had seen him.
