3D has untapped potential: Irrfan

Acclaimed actor Irrfan Khan says filmmakers are yet to realise the full potential in 3D as a format, and believes Ang Lee has used it well in "Life of Pi".

Acclaimed actor Irrfan Khan says filmmakers are yet to realise the full potential in 3D as a format, and believes Ang Lee has used it well in "Life of Pi".

"'Life of Pi' is a very difficult film. It is based on a very complicated, interesting and intelligent book (of the same name). Ang Lee has done 3D for the first time and 3D is a new baby, who is still growing up," Irrfan said here.

"We (Indian filmmakers) don't know the potential of 3D yet. It is untapped," he added.

Irrfan, whose work in "Paan Singh Tomar" was widely appreciated, plays grown up Pi, the lead character, who gets stuck on a boat with a Bengal tiger in Lee's movie.

The younger Pi is essayed by Indian child actor Suraj Sharma, who has no previous acting experience.

it is because our expectations are too high, i read the reviews where every reviewer behaved like a pussy...its only becoz they were expecting too high...why was that for...when he was never given the signifcance of a great role then why to expect...and yeah his role was important as becoz of him dr conners became the lizard...i don't know abt others but i felt it was fine..

Of course expectation was high from him because he is a brilliant actor and his role in Spiderman could have been done by anyone and I am sure even though the film would have been with the same impact and BO. We can expect best from him not from thushar kapoor or uday chopra.

Irrfan has a lot of respect in Hollywood. its his simplicity that has kept him grounded otherwise he can easily go for a star ride...he currently has 4 hollywood films
