Hey guys, i'm gonna start doing something where I predict the box office collections for films that are going to release in the week. Here it is:
This Friday as we all know is the release of BOL BACHCHAN, directed by the super-successful Rohit Shetty (Golmaal Series/Singham) and stars Ajay Devgan, Abhishek Bacchan, Prachi and Asin.
Come to think of it, the expectations are quite high for BOL BACHCHAN, and the main reason for that can be attributed to the fact that it Rohit Shetty/Ajay Devgan's next outing together after GOLMAAL 3 (Blockbuster) and Singham (Super Hit). ALso, these films both made 100 crores at the box office. Let's not forget of course, that the duo also has the GOLMAAL series and ALL THE BEST as a part of their credentials as well box office wise.
Let me state this: THIS FILM WILL BE A TURNING POINT FOR ABHISHEK BACCHAN, BOX OFFICE WISE. We have seen in these last few years that Abhishek's films have been falling like a pack of cards in the past few years. DRONA, RAAVAN, KHELEIN HUM JEE JAAN SEY, GAME, PLAYERS, etc were all box office disasters. However, with the help of Rohit and Ajay, Abhisek will see major success coming his way in terms of BOL BACHCHAN. THIS WILL BE HIS FIRST MAJOR HIT SINCE DHOOM 2.
Even though i don't live in India, I can "feel" that promo/buzz wise, the hype for this film is good, but not extra-ordinary. But, the Indian audience really enjoy Rohit Shetty's brand of cinema, and that is what will help the film (content).
Here's what I predict the collections to be:
First day: 8.50 crore net approx.
Weekend (Fri/Sat/Sun): 31 crore net approx.
Lifetime: 100+ crore net approx.
Box Office Verdict for film: Super Hit/Blockbuster
So, what does that mean for all involved in the film? It means this:
-Ajay Devgan, who has been going through a bad phase post Singham due to box office debacles like Rascals and Tezz, can have a sigh of relief, with this film being his third entrant into the 100 crore club
-Rohit Shetty keeps his success record intact, cementing himself as one of the most successful directors in Bollywood, and making his next film CHENNAI EXPRESS (with SRK) even more keenly anticipated
-Abhishek Bacchan can finally get a huge box office success, and it will be only more smiles from there because next year comes his film Dhoom 3, which will definitely re-write box office history
-Asin continues her winning streak with another film in the 100 crore club, being able to claim the right to call herself the "100 crore Queen" due to GHAJINI, READY, HOUSEFULL 2, and now BOL BACHCHAN
-Prachi Desai, who has had a few successful films so far (ROCK ON, ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAI, etc) can now add a major success to her list.
So basically, it will be all smiles for those involved :)
