Discussion: Favorite Nonfiction?

Most of us read fiction, novels after novels. But do any of you read much of nonfiction? I tend to avoid nonfiction unless it's on a subject I feel strongly about or very well written. I think nonfiction tends to be boring.. for the most part. Of course, it depends tremendously on the author who can certainly make it interesting.

The Psychopath Test by Jon Ronson is certainly one of the intriguing ones. It's a pretty amazing book, very very interesting.

So do you tend to read nonfiction? If so, which books are your favorites?

My most favorite has to be The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch, followed by Night by Elie Wiesel. Both can be heartbreaking at times but well worth the read and re-reads.

it depends .. i loved "i dare" the autobiogaphy of kiran bedi
even for me the books like provoked and god of small things has a part of non-fiction and i loved it but yes its true most of the time i am drming about navy seals and air force officers as well as millionaires so i prefer reading about them :P

Richard Bach's books. I started with the classic Jonathan Livingstone Seagull and read some more like the Bridge across forever, One, A gift of wings

Aishwarya- Hahaha i know what you mean, I tend to mostly read fiction too. I Dare sounds interesting.

themockingjay - I really want to read that one, heard so much about it.

bulls-eye - I haven't read any of those but the titles sound so interesting.

chhilt - I want to read Steve Jobs but even though I love my iPhone I have not interest whatsoever in the details of the softwares/hardwares.. so I wasn't sure how much of the book is about that. Anyway, Tuesdays with Morrie was definitely a great one! A Child Called It was heartbreaking.. I think it's the one book that made me cry uncontrollably several times. Ellen DeGeneres is a fun person, I wanna read that one now. And The Glass Castle is on my wishlist on amazon, will be downloading it soon.

I'd say the Jobs biography is 50-50 about his career and personal life. And of course, the parts of his career would include all sorts of stuff about the technology he's working with :P Try it though, you never know. It's written in a very interesting way.

The Ellen book will definitely not disappoint you. It is hilarious, just like she's sitting there and telling you a story haha.
