That's why Katrina works for this generation despite zero acting skills. If Madhuri had her Ek do teen and choli ke peeche, Katrina also has her Sheela ki Jawani and Chikni Chameli. They both created the same amount of mass hysteria with these songs. Yes, Madhuri is a much better actress in terms of acting alone...but the comparison to Katrina isn't nearly as far fetched as we'd like to think.

I was not the one who started the comparison - you did, i.e. between today's Katrina and Madhuri. She can't act? Yes, but that makes zero difference to her star power.
She can't dance? Yes, but that makes zero difference to her star power.
She has zero oomph factor? Really? 😆 Ask the average man from the street, they'd pay their whole annual income to just meet her face to face. She has topped "Who's the sexiest Indian lady" several times, voted by men.
The real question is, is she a star? And the answer is a obviously resounding "YES!".

I am the last person to care for Kat, but let's give the credit where it is due. I don't care about Madhuri either, so you can see I am pretty much neutral about them both. Yes Kat can't come anywhere close to a Madhuri in terms of acting, emoting, dancing et al - but when it comes to star power, she is the only star in the last 15 years who has that crowd-pulling ability in her. That does not mean she can accomplish (going by her previous record) what Madhuri has accomplished. But only in the "crowed pulling" factor, she is the closest to what Madhuri had accomplished in the past.

As for Mr. Chopra, I can't talk about his previous films much, as I haven't seen all, and the ones I did see (Lamhe, Silsila and a few others), I can't remember them much. However, he was a very reputed director, so he must have been good. But there is a universally acknowledged opinion that the quality of his films (and all the ones that YRF churned out) dropped since DTPH. My point was, Yash C. knows people hardly cares for him or his films anymore, critics aren't going to drool over his heart-shaped balloons or Harlequin dialogues either, he is probably skeptical about SRK's crowd-pulling ability too...so what can he do to make sure the film receives a good opening? Right. Cast Kitty Kat into it. He is a business man first and then a director - at least that is what he has become now.

katrina has a good head on her shoulders; she didnt grow up here, she had to learn

the language, she doesnt hav filmi parents or sister, and she is not known for her

acting talent. so if she is number one without all that, and her popularity cutting across

all ages and demographics, more power to her.

zarine, bhagyashree and heaven knows who else, and itsonly Katrina who is ruling
