He was at his peak once, now he is the butt of everyone's jokes. As far as I'm concerned, all Madhuri did was dance her way around the trees the entire 90s. Other than Mrityudand and Prem granth to an extent, I have never seen her act...unless you count fluttering eyelids and dancing the be all and end all of bollywood acting. Yes, she can dance and yes she can make colorful expressions. Her greatest strength was her screen presence...which even Katrina has. That's why Katrina works for this generation despite zero acting skills. If Madhuri had her Ek do teen and choli ke peeche, Katrina also has her Sheela ki Jawani and Chikni Chameli. They both created the same amount of mass hysteria with these songs. Yes, Madhuri is a much better actress in terms of acting alone...but the comparison to Katrina isn't nearly as far fetched as we'd like to think.

dats the topic about...😆.its called " Can the WOODEN Katrina inherit Madhuri's legacy?" i don't see this as a popularity overall but in popularity in terms of acting...and i would still say that when it comes to acting katrina can't stand madhuri by any chance...but by the popularity of looks and oomph factor that you are referring to...is subjective and has variations...

I feel dis forum is being too harsh on Katrina. Okay I agree she's not a good actor but still she does have a charm & screen presence. She is gorgeous & she has a fit body. Currently he has the highest number of fans. People do like her.

Acting:
Now that Katrina has everything whether its huge fan following or BO success. One thing she needs to do is focus on ACTING. One thing about Katrina is that she is very hardworking. Its not that she got success just like that, she had to work hard for it. She can become a good actor.

Dancing:
When it comes to dance, Katrina has a fit body & she has killer moves, which Madhuri never did. But Katrina needs to develop good expressions. Madhuri had good & natural expressions becoz she is a classically trained dancer. I think Katrina should also start learning classical dance that will help her with expressions too.

^katrina has lack of expressions coz most of the times she herself cant understand the lyrics of the song she is dancing on! i bet apart from the name "chikni chameli" she doesnt know W*F is even being said in the rest of the song thats why it appears slightly mechanical!

I was not the one who started the comparison - you did, i.e. between today's Katrina and Madhuri. You said "And Katrina wouldnt survive if Madhuri was still in the industry" and I elaborated on that stance, showing how flawed it is. When you state "if Madhuri was still in the industry" - you are essentially comparing the present Madhuri with the present Kat.

She can't act? Yes, but that makes zero difference to her star power.
She can't dance? Yes, but that makes zero difference to her star power.
She has zero oomph factor? Really? 😆 Ask the average man from the street, they'd pay their whole annual income to just meet her face to face. She has topped "Who's the sexiest Indian lady" several times, voted by men.
The real question is, is she a star? And the answer is a obviously resounding "YES!".

I am the last person to care for Kat, but let's give the credit where it is due. I don't care about Madhuri either, so you can see I am pretty much neutral about them both. Yes Kat can't come anywhere close to a Madhuri in terms of acting, emoting, dancing et al - but when it comes to star power, she is the only star in the last 15 years who has that crowd-pulling ability in her. That does not mean she can accomplish (going by her previous record) what Madhuri has accomplished. But only in the "crowed pulling" factor, she is the closest to what Madhuri had accomplished in the past.

As for Mr. Chopra, I can't talk about his previous films much, as I haven't seen all, and the ones I did see (Lamhe, Silsila and a few others), I can't remember them much. However, he was a very reputed director, so he must have been good. But there is a universally acknowledged opinion that the quality of his films (and all the ones that YRF churned out) dropped since DTPH. My point was, Yash C. knows people hardly cares for him or his films anymore, critics aren't going to drool over his heart-shaped balloons or Harlequin dialogues either, he is probably skeptical about SRK's crowd-pulling ability too...so what can he do to make sure the film receives a good opening? Right. Cast Kitty Kat into it. He is a business man first and then a director - at least that is what he has become now.

____________
if yash chopra were to make a Dil Toh Paagal Hai, Mohabbatein, Kabhie Kabhie now,
who will go to see it? the young crowd dont connect with those types of movies any more
given the fast pace of life, and internet and all. the older crowd dont make up the masses of
movie going crowd.
so instead of shutting shop, he has adapted his style of working and is producing movies
to the taste of what he thinks sells now; and if that is all these bikini clad ladies gyrating
in the sea, or brazil, or 'cool macho hunks with dyed blond hair and fast beat songs
to which young crowd can dance even if the words have no meaning or are crap.
If Madhuri was madhuri now, even she would have had to adapt her style. from the
saree clad cooing lady to a more brazen kind of image, more of the Que Sera Sera
kind of image to have the kind of popuarity she enjoyed then.
she could have done it. but i dont think she would have enjoyed it.

Were you asleep during Anjaam? Blind during Beta? Left the room during her fantastic comedy in Khalnayak? Even Raja was a steller performance.

Seriously, no credibility in your post 🥱

MADHURIS LEGACY?
all she seems to hav said in her typical laid back way is that she is excited to be wearing
the kind of clothes sri and mads wore when they were starring with srk kinda feminine
indian avatar types; chiffony sarees, elegant pretty salwars, maybe?.
she wouldnt mind having a career graph like madhuri? well madhuri was number one
while all the other heroines were numbers four to five behind her. so which heroine
would nt want that?
seems to me like MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING
katrina has a good head on her shoulders; she didnt grow up here, she had to learn
the language, she doesnt hav filmi parents or sister, and she is not known for her
acting talent. so if she is number one without all that, and her popularity cutting across
all ages and demographics, more power to her.
yeah yeah salman was there is there. but then so was he there for somy ali, asin,
zarine, bhagyashree and heaven knows who else, and itsonly Katrina who is ruling
the roost. something to think about.
if maine pyar kyun kiya, partner had tanked it woud have been bye bye katrina hello
new starlet salman no salman
abhishek bachchan has movies because of who he is but he is no way number one
the way katrina is

You summed it all well...
